EXO-L's have been load since the beginning. I was at Music Core for EXO-K when they promoted MAMA. Was standing very much towards the middle of the fans in the standing area, for the pre-recording. Could not hear the singing, barely the music, just the mix of fan chants and general screaming. Was not a fan at that point. Just wanted to try attending a music show. Really had no idea what I had in store, but it was absolutely an experience. ㅋㅋ.
Still not a fan, but do love listening to their music. And think they are AMAZING live. Seeing them perform Drop that at the last SM Town concert i attended was one of the most memorable concert experience I've had ❤️

True, riff and runs are so much difficult in practice. Only professional singer can pull that off. It requires so much control, technique, and agility to do. And D.O doing it with advance skill. Perfect and precise. So, not a suprise if many singer or vocal coach/teacher will amuse by D.O
Stan For Talent I can do these runs but I’m not a professional singer however things like mixed voice to belt like Chen is a fucking masterpiece.
Yeah tbh I had such a different expectation for EXO coming in. I’m pleasantly surprised and are seeing why they’ve been so popular!
Jeff Avenue I just love them so much! EXO has everything from vocals to visuals to dancing skills to rap... they are talented, charismatic, and hot af so yeah as a fan you get the whole package. I'm multi fandom but EXO is my fav so far.
@@w2174 Chen's is the best in range of coure he's number 1 amongs them. When i mean runs, try to do what D.O does. Go watch mama mv, in the first begining line when D.O slide from A4 to C5 . If you can do that as perfect as he is. You can call yourself as a professional singer
with EXO, breaking down the harmony is difficult. I watched interviews from like Shim Jaewon, Marz Music, and LDN Noise who composed for them, and EXO is used to filling the harmony part themselves as opposed from having a background singer. From what I've picked up as a fan for years, it could be just one member doing like 6 different layers or multiple members doing one thing each. With Tempo, I think they utilize most of the members because the sounds are quite distinct. Aside from the holy trinity Baekhyun, Chen, and D.O, Chanyeol often filled the bass part which was quite prominent here, and Suho also did some parts, and also Xiumin doing the falsetto parts! A fan on Weibo stripped down the layers of the song and it was actually a mind blowing piece of video to watch lol

Not as detailed as you'd like it to be, I guess, but you can still get the general idea of the layers underneath D.O, Chen, and Baekhyuns power vocals. I forgot where I watched the full breakdown, it was a random weibo link I found on twitter back when the song was just released🤣

Amazing! I AM SO HAPPY that they utilize themselves to do the harmonization cause I know some groups (not particularly kpop), get bg singers to do the back up vocals. It’s such a shame when people do that. I know EXO has some acapella vocals available, is this song in one of their repertoire for that?

Yeah Chen is doing the overlay when Sehun does rap part in the beginning. The funny thing about him asking is that he just watch the live performance of them singing/rapping together.
They opened their last tour concerts with this, that "I can't believe!!!" Breaking the silence marking the beginning gave me chills, and Baekhyun's voice on his solo part.... Omg... I wish I could comeback to that moment

The weird voice there is part of the concept. I think you know that all exo's mv has a story line but in not particular order, fan's theories that in this mv, they are glitching because they are not really the exo, and that weird voice is a 'glitch'.

the songwriter mentioned in an interview that he intended for this song to be thr kpop Bohemian rhapsody... and he had a hard time with the distribution of the lines..... my favorite part of the song is Suho's adlib in the second verse after Chanyeol's rap.. i think its underrated.. but it was sooo good! a little background
- after monster, EXO continued to promote as an 8 member group due to political conflicts between S.K. and China (Lay is Chinese and is an ambassador of an organization which is why it is difficult for him to promote in SK)
- he participated in the Chinese version of the song, he's in the mv and album too (even though he's literally seconds long)
- in the meantime, lay is promoting his solo career in China and has released a lot of songs and even collaborated with steve aoki and alan walker.

It fits the concept (connect to exo's storyline). They are the clones of normal exo here, and if you pay attention, they are all kinda glitching especially baekhyun before singing that part, so that's why they were using that voice effect.

Living for all the reactions 💓 I've notice ur list doesn't have exo(debut song) 'Mama' it's really vocal heavy you'll be shocked and it's still upbeat. Same with the iconic 'call me baby' has similar vocal rifs and dance heavy. And than 'growl' , 'overdose' are other dance heavy songs it really put them on the map. These are all iconic songs that blew them up. I'm surprised it's not on the list or no one has recommended.
