    When commentators and journalists say the West is 'fatigued' by Ukraine my blood boils! Do they think the war is entertaining reality TV that we soon become bored with? Ask Ukrainians, especially those fighting for their country (and democracy) what 'fatigue' means!

    • @dannylad1600
      @dannylad1600 Před 14 dny +4

      They're right though. Support for Ukraine requires political drive which only comes if people are paying attention to it. Look at how support started to dwindle when certain other conflicts took over the headlines.

    • @vampyrewithasuntan
      @vampyrewithasuntan Před 14 dny

      It's because the media frames the whole "fatigue" discussion wrongly.. and they do it knowingly.
      It's not a discussion about whether the West is tired of supporting Ukraine - it's about whether it makes sense to back a losing horse all the way to the finish line.. the "fatigue" is not down to lack of will, its about what is actually possible in the real world - and maximalist goals are out the window.. for both Russia and Ukraine, neither will get what they want - because they are unable to achieve those goals, now and later.
      So, in short.. "fatigue" is simply a buzzword used to mask a larger discussion - primarily in regards to whether or not its time to climb down from the tree, force the Ukrainians to iron out some sort of deal, and so forth.

    James an interesting debate but it doesn’t address the realistic concerns of the Russian Federation that NATO is annexing and setting up military bases on the borders of what was the former Soviet union,remember what America did when the then Soviet Union sought to put misses within Cuba, further whilst we may say it is repugnant that force of arms is used to invade the Ukraine must be considered but there should be diplomatic solutions , as under no circumstances should anyone nation do this, we only have to hold up Israel and the England’s ( Iraq, Afghanistan etc )... occupation of Northern Ireland are to further evidence recent examples it cannot be right that we in the UK are paying for a war in Europe via the provision of weapons resources intelligence(we are equally fed a one sided position on the issues via the mainstream media) , and who knows what else we don’t know, it will never end well with the ultimate capitulation of a foe by force, be that World War II, where yes Germany was defeated but ultimately the political establishment had to find a way of working together again, in the 21st-century it is unlikely that such an outcome will prevail as it’s about global politics not what the majority of people desire...as the use of force of arms never ends well for anyone, especially the civilian populations of Israel Belfast or Northern Ireland as examples....the same applies in Europe today...

    On the point of classism into performing arts - the answer is simple and not just constitutional and societal bias. The real answer is that middle and upper class kids can afford to go into it, try out and for it to fail. Working class kids can’t afford that risk so many don’t try. That’s the privilege of coming from money. You can afford for it to fail, others can’t. It’s the same with starting businesses. When mummy and daddy can cover you if it goes wrong, there’s little risk.
