This is the definition of buried treasure, anywhere you drop the needle on this album is pure gold!
I concur
Kids today with music on-demand as individual songs will never get that thrill it was to drop the needle onto a new LP and hear it for the first time, as a complete work.
This album needs to be listened to non stop from side to side. Each song compliments the next.A very good album by Robin Trower.
@jet, 👍👍TOTALLY agree. The next track, About To Begin, lifts this track to a higher level imho, a fan from his Procol Harum days
Trower has a huge book of business ... one of the truly great guitarists
This is a power trio. Robin Trower plays guitar. James Dewar sings and plays bass while Reg Isidore is on drums.
Day of the Eagle, Bridge of Sighs, The Fool and Me, and Little Bit of Sympathy are some more great trax from this album.
There's not a bad song on the whole album. Bought the album in 1975 still listen to it time and time again.
AMEN!!!
Don't forget *Gonna Be More Suspicious!* (Not this album, but one of his all-time best!)
Total vibe ! sooo good
Was only 14 yrs old, when this masterpiece came out, underrated, sad, great killer tune.
Robin Trower is one the greatest electric guitarists ever, his tone and tasteful playing is in class by itself. He’s still doing it, brand new album out now with Livingstone Brown and Maxi Priest is killer. His earliest work with Procol Harum from the 60’s/early 70’s is how I got hooked.
just checked out his new album. Coupla outstanding cuts. Thanks for the heads up. BTW you might like my music channel Slice AH Life...
This album is fantastic every track “bridge of sighs” I wore it out in high school
Wore mine too my friend high school grad in 1975 saw concert never forget those timed ,relive wiyh some of my buddies from back then we all still live within 10 miles fron each other here in San Antonio,Texas🤘🏼✌🏽😎
VICTIMS OF THE FURY
same thing here and I've seen him 3 times
Listen to Eric Johnson "Cliffs of Dover". Also check out Rory Gallagher.
Check out Paul Rogers he was in the groups "Free" and "Bad Company"
It is a delight to see how much you enjoyed Robin Trower. When this album dropped in '74, it blasted from every dorm room. Great times. 70 yo here. Peace.
The Bridge of Sighs album came out in 1974. Give the track Daydream a try. Trower has numerous great songs to experience.
Daydream was on the first album, Twice Removed from Yesterday, and the title track ain't bad either. Though Hannah on that album is a space jam deluxe.
There are a few albums I would classify as masterpieces. Robin Trower’s Bridge of Sighs, Fleetwood Mac’s Rumors, and Pink Floyd’s Darkside of the Moon. I can listen to those albums from start to finish easily.
@@denystull355 "Hannah" is one of my all-time Trower faves. Awesome! Good call.
Robin Trower and Frank Marino Picked up where Jimi dropped out.... Jimi , Robin Trower , Frank Marino all beautiful flavors of acid rock Blues . . . Improved my life !!
Definitely 👈🍻
Robin Trower and James Dewar were magic together, sadly James is no longer with us. But Robin is still touring and recording.
I had that on a 8 track in the late 70s great guitarist
Excellent choice Lance. Love Trower. Great reaction too. "Day of the Eagle" is another great song.
Man how I love this track, heard it in my late teens & freaked. Trower just rips this & its got everything.. blues, rock, funk, fusion, you name it & Dewar’s voice is like some amazing hard black soul dude. It’s truly a remarkable piece that’ll stand the test of time eons after we’re all gone. Trower your awesome man, thank you 🙏👏
Trower!! One of my favorite guitarists...it's a shame so few of today's listeners have heard of him. He's still playing and recording too. Thanks for exposing him to a new generation. 👏
The best track on the album imho is “a little bit of sympathy “ followed closely by “its about to begin” but you can play any track off that particular album it’s all good!
Yea what you said !!
Could not agree more.
Why always these ratings? This album is full of great songs. Depending on a daily mood, the one or the other are closer to what I need right now. Music should be free of competition and all about cooperation.
I love their sheer joy in their reactions!
As it should be....
🎶💙🎶
Robin Trower is great. Been around forever. Lots of good songs from him.
I was heavily into this in the late 70s, and I think this was my favorite song of his. In his latter years, around the late 90s, I got to see him live, and he opened with this song, and he was all old man and lips and teeth, and he was nuts. Great choice.
So glad you two playing my guy. I seen him live in 1978 they are spectacular after seeing him I started incorporating his style in my guitar work. That whole album was excellent. They the Bridge of Sighs another great. If listen to his solo you will hear people clapping in the background it sounds live but it is just the hangers of groupies getting Into the great guitar work
He hits all the right notes that I wanted to hear even before I heard them, that’s what a heavy rock blues player can do to you.
Outstanding. Haven’t heard that in years. Thanks. It was introduced in 1974.
I have seen Trower in the last 5 years at the bluesfest in Windsor and way back in 1980 for the Victim of the Fury tour at Masonic Temple in Detroit....what a show....this guy came from a group called Procol Harum , and went solo since I would say 1972....recommended albums would be this album (Bridge of Sighs) and Twice Removed From Yesterday....some great songs would be Daydream, Day of the Eagle, Bridge of Sighs, Hannah, Jack and Jill, Victim of the Fury, Lady Love, I can't wait much longer etc.
It’s Trower, sounds like shower. Check out Bridge of Sighs
Hey guys, finally someone is realizing how great robin trower was..i saw him in 77..man could he and his band jam..ty guys.
Haven't heard that song since college early 70's. Thanks for the reaction, thank you Lance and thank you Mr. Trower. Loved it!
Trower is a British player who still tours. I graduated in 74. Had this tape as soon as it came out. Never gets old!
Thank you I've never heard this before and it was great music. I will be looking up more music from him.
Listen to the whole album “Bridge of Sighs” and The album “Long Misty Days “
More please! :P Anything by Trower!
This guy is old school songs like Jimmy and others well this is where they learn it from this guy is 80 from the UK. I think his still alive.
Not only alive but still doing dates the last I heard
@@randys55 hahaha you might be right.
He’s still playing. Saw him in the summer of 2019 and the 2020 tour was canceled. We all know why.
He still can lay it out there.
This one album should be in everybody's collection. I was lucky enough to be around when it came out. Just one of those cases where everything came together: songs, playing, recording. Robin Trower, James Dewar and Reg Isidore recorded other good material, but this album is the one. Nice to see it appreciated.
Had this on a cassette tape in 1974 and smoked good weed and played it in my car. I thought of Robin as a white Jimi Hendrix.
Robin Trower was originally the lead guitarist with Procal Harum.
What's ironic is you barely heard him in Procol Harum, he was just in the back practically silent! Definitely destined for greater things!
Yes he was, but after they recorded “A Whiter Shade of Pale”.
Procol harum are my favourite band of all time.
My first concert back in 1976 in Minnesota! Great concert...Bridge of Sighs!
This is one of the few bands in the 70s that had a Baritone lead singer...most went with the high Led Zepplin-type tenor...
The entire Bridge of Sighs album is a classic. It's one of my favorite albums of all time. From this same album you should check out the opening two tracks which are Day of the Eagle and it goes right into the title track of Bridge of Sighs. Too Rolling Stoned opens side two. The rest of the album is also great with a couple of slower tempo tracks and three more rockers.
One of the best rock albums ever recorded.
Damn Skippy!!👍
Spot On!
This came out the year I got out of the service, almost 50 years ago! Just as cassette tapes were taking off, by the time I had to buy another the old one sounded like they were playing underwater.
Great album. Victims of the Fury is a great album too. I also loved the record he did with Jack Bruce of Cream fame, BLT (Bruce, Lordan, Trower)
Hey John, if you loved BLT (I did too) then don’t miss Seven Moons album. Also with Jack Bruce.
This was my favorite album when I was 20 in 1974. Robin Trower is an awesome guitarist.
Love that you gave trower a listen.
My fav is Rock me Baby from the Live album. My favorite guitarist ever and a very nice and humble man. I took both of my sons to see him and they will never forget. A 70s something ole man that can still plug in and melt your face off. AWESOME.
I still got the original album. I used to listen to this everyday when I first bought it.
Love Robin Trower and guys hit it dead on.......Funk, rock and blues all in one song.
I love the music of Robin Trower and I love y'all's reaction to your first exposure to it.
I make it a point to always introduce younger rock fans to Trower especially Bridge of sighs.
@@timhuggins7069 I have children aged from mid-twenties to early teens. I've done my best to introduce them to the classics of rock and roll. This album is one of them.
Thank you, you two! You nailed the reaction. This was 1974. And to those that mentioned first having this on 8 track tape, damn rights! And again, thanks to T and T
I disagree on them nailing the reaction. I don't think they listened to the lyrics close enough. It's a Blues song and definitely Social Commentary at the time. In the same vein that CSNY's OHIO was social commentary of the massacre at OU.
I’m 66, a Trower fan, seen him many times, glad people are getting in touch with great older music 🎶. Day of eagle, Bridge of Sighs, Daydream, tons of great tracks by Trower, very much overlooked guitarist!!!
I don't care what color you are, what religion you follow, what you identify as or what your plumbing is, if you can't feel the groove in this song within 5 seconds then you must be dead! It took Tosha all of about 1.5 seconds to start moving her body to the beat...about the same amount of time it took for her brain to acknowledge "this is awesome". Not that it matters but 3 of the whitest dudes on the planet wrote this song nealry 50 years ago and brilliantly combined blues, funk & rock. Enjoy. Your (both) reactions just made my day. BTW song is from 1974.
What i admire about robin trowyer is he is 20 years older than me but I seen live a few years ago and robin is still just as good as he was in the day. Most guitar players that play professionally for 30 or 40 years has severe nerve damage and arthritis like myself .I have carpal tunnel.severe arthritis. I had two surgeries this was my last year to play the guitar if want to know how the pain fills. Go find a electric wall socket and grab it. been a rough year also lost my wife to cancer. My wife and my guitar only two things that I loved in my life. I lost both of them this year playing guitar professionally for a living is not what it cracked up to be
Sorry for your loss
@@lancecornell9978 thank you lance
Trower was my first concert. Played every song on the album. 1975 ~ I was 15.
It's pronounced like tower with an "R". Thanks for the share. Have always loved this guy. Very encouraging to see fresher generations discovering these musical nuggets of gold.
I'm 70 years old now. The first concert I went to , I was in 8th grade, and it was Jimi Hendrix, Vanilla Fudge, Aire Apparenr, and Soft Machine, in Seattle in 1968. Jimi Hendrix as been my #1 ever since. His music changed my life. I have been able to see Robin Tower twice over the years. Trower is easily in my top 3 bands. I saw the Allman Brothers Band during the same tour as their double live album, Live at the Philmore East. These three bands, also including Hendrix's Band of Gypsies, are my picks. I have seen lots if other great concerts over the years, including Mountain, Black Sabath, Billy Cobham and Spectrum, Savoy Brown, Wishbone Ash, Canned Eat, etc, etc. I enjoyed seeing you two youngsters hearing Trower for the first time! That album has to go down as one of the all time best heavy rock album. Mt. Trower's wife passed away a few years back. He took some time off, but then came back with a vengence, and is still touring and cuting new records. May he rock on forever
Absolutely love him, love this album!! Seen him several times and he is definitely my favorite guitarist!!
A few decades ago my dad was telling me about all of his favorite albums growing up in the 70s that he hadn't head in ages (all of his cassettes were stolen from his car in the 80s 😡) so whenever he'd remember an artist/album I did my best to find it again for him.
This was one of the albums, such great music!
Thank you for recognizing a truly great album.! Robins use of reverb is masterful. And by the way the whole album is awesome.
One of the best bands ever and I am an old black guy, great stuff!
You are right on. Robin Trower goes from funky to blues seamlessly. James Dewar's base line holds the line between both and his voice is haunting. The title track of this album is another great song to listen to. If you want to hear some rocking blues plug into Stevie Ray Vaughan"s (pronounced Vonn), Texas Flood; Live at the El Mocambo. It'll leave you stunned.
Check out Caledonia from the Long Misty Days album - you'll love it.
Great song !
It's incredible some of the music that used to come out of the 60s and 70s. It's got to be the greatest music ever and will be. That's why I relive it every day on classic rock stations on my way to work and back.
OMG! Back in the day! This still tears my heart from my body!
This is from the 70's. 1974 to be exact. This was progressive rock. Blues.... Most all progressive rock from the 70's sounds way new all the time. I mean. You guys nailed it
Got to see his show in '75 when he was promoting this album. Wish I could remember it, cuz I wuz 2 rolling stoooooooned.
"Old school feel to it but it has a newness to it". Nailed it! Hallmark of a timeless classic.
All of this album is great. There is a song by Trower, "Long Misty Days" that I haven't seen anyone react to yet.
this was the # 7 ALBUM from 1974 his best selling work. the first real power trio, ( rush was just beginning at this time) My best friend came over my house and said I MUST listen to this, I didnt have a stereo, but Tim did and went to his house, he had all Pioneer equipment except the tower speakers which were technics, both Tim and I were 14, he placed the album on the turntable and this was the first song on side 2, the bass blew me away and I turned up the volume, Tim and I were headbangin to this jam and when it finished both his parents were staring at us in the doorway, they didnt say anything since they were hippies anyway. Good memories
No album collection was complete without this one
Yall really jammin, love your reaction, ya gotta check the rest of this album it just kicks ass!!!!!
Check out Day of the Eagle by Robin Trower as well.
Robin Trower a bluesy rock guitarist, seen them do this in 78, great sound, great concert.
I was 13/14 years old when I got this album in the mail from Columbia House Records in the late 70s and had no idea what it was; just got it because I thought the cover looked cool. I put it on and hot damn !!! It has been one of my all time favorites and I still listen to it a good bit. An absolute classic.
Loved your youtube guys, and I love this album. Not only do I have the original vinyl from 1975, I just played it yesterday!!! Glad you enjoyed Trower. This album is timeless. Thanks again.
I've been a Trower fan since this album, and I enjoyed watching your reactions to this as much as the track. Glad I found your channel!
Love this guys and the respect you show, by not stopping this brilliant tracks, total respect to you both.
Just thought I’d mention, Robin Trower is in his late 70’s, and still tours with his music! Watch him in a live video. He TOTALLY gets in to what he’s playing. Squeezing every nuance out of that guitar. 😎 🎸
Check out “In This Place”. It’s my favorite Trower track.
I discovered him very recently when I found the ‘Bridge of Sighs’ vinyl for $4! As soon as I heard it, I ordered everything he made in the 70s. I’ve listened to that record every night for a month.
Saw Robin Trower at the academy of music nyc for this albums tour. Loved Trower from his days in Procol Harum
Your reaction says it all, you are into the vibe and loving it. Niiice! I have seen him live many times, he is the archetypal guitar player for me, so mellow, and so expressive, and yet fast but accurate, with feeling. He is my go to guitar player, since i was a callow young man in the 70's, I can play this album through again and again. It should be in every rock/blues colllection.
Anything from the "Bridge of Sighs" album/cd is worth listening to. All the tracks are good. That was one cool thing about the 70s. Artists made albums that you could listen to all the way through.
Robin Trower is an electric guitarist who usually performs as a power trio (James Dewar, bass and vocals) and Reg Isidore (drums). The album, "Bridge of Sighs," was his 2nd release in 1974. The entire album is worth a listen. It opens with the heavy "Day of the Eagle." Other great songs here are the title cut, "A Little Bit of Sympathy" and "The Fool and Me." Lots and lots of excellent songs from this artist. In the early 80s he teamed up with the legendary bassist (and vocalist), Jack Bruce, and drummer Bill Lord and and released the album, BLT, with an outstanding single, "Into Money." 💚💚💚
You can't go wrong with Trower. I've been a big fan since the 70's. Had the honor to see him live.
The next time Robin Trower plays a bad note will be the first time he plays a bad note. Flawless.
Just an epic artist this music will live on bringing smiles
Thanks Lance & TNT. Great song from a superb album. Still one of my favs.
I ve been loving Robin Trower' s music since his first album, and before with Procol Harum.
And I loved the way you have, both, discovered and enjoyed this song.. incredible sound
Thank you for this moment...
I love you guys! I like the way you get into the music and how you discuss the tunes.
I saw them when I was a teenager back in the 70s at the Colosseum in LA, that's how old they are🤟😉
This is how you enjoy Robin Trower's music. Well done! Exactly: This band was a unique mix of hard rock, R&B, soul, and blues.
Still touring this year aged 76 . Late James Dewar on vocals a fellow Scotsman and Robin being Robin , loud as hell with complete control. Classic album!
Saw him in the "70"s , another UNDERRATED guitar player from that time!! 😁😍🤯🔥🎸😁😍🤯🔥🎸
74' Trower is mind blowing.. set the stage for so many guitarists.. check out "Daydream" from his previous album released in 73' also stunning🤘
The smiles and the air guitar-that about sums it up!
Thank you so much for getting this group. I was blessed to see them twice live during this era of 70's progressive rock. The bass player and vocalist, James Dewar, was so important to the sound of this 3 man power trio. He had as much influence on the band as Robert Plant did to the Who, plus he was an awesome 3-man power-trio bass player. He is often overshadowed by Robin Trower. I got to see Robin Trower in 1976 when Sammy Hagar, recently departing from Montrose (omg "Montrose") was the opening act.
Released in '74.
I remember rushing up to virgin in oxford st to buy it.
The whole album is a muddy blues masterpiece.
Check out the title track, makes you feel like you're in a basement somewhere jamming to the blues.
I salute you for letting this play uninterrupted. I enjoyed watching you guys dig on this. Cheers
Loved Robin Trower when I was in high school in the early 70s . People compared him to Hendrix. Before he went solo he was the guitarist for Procol Harum. Check out the song Bridge of Sighs.
I remember a Trower show in a small Club in Tampa back in the early 80's it was his birthday that night and me and my friends dropped some Purple Micro Dot. To Rolling Stone gets going and I went out of control doing a James Brown dance!! I couldn't stop, people were like freaked!!
Trower has been my main influence since the Bridge of Sighs tour when I first was turned on to him.
Dewar and Trower was the best Trower band.
Oh, so much fun to watch you guys groove on Robin Trower! You won my heart months ago with your reaction to AC/DC's Thunderstruck. So nice to see two people trying new things & being successful at them.
My favorite allbum of all time- 4 worn out copies. Classic 70's British Blues. I was in H.S.
I had this album... yep, way back in the 70s😊
3 piece band robin trower guitar James dewar bass and vocals reg Isidore drums
TNT, just gave you the 1,000th like for this video, great job! You have to check out some live Trower videos. He's still playing at the tender age of 77! Unfortunately, James Dewar (vocals/bass) died 20 years ago. He sang with such soul he could make you cry.
BTW, Trower was also in Procol Harum with Gary Brooker (ala Whiter Shade of Pale, among other 1960s hits).
So my very first concert was Robin Trower at the Masonic Temple in Detroit in 1974 when I was a teen. Trower had Marshall stacks lined up behind him. One of them caught fire but Robin kept playing while roadies tried to put out the fire.
The other thing that I remember is that our seats were up in the rafters and my ears were ringing for days afterward. But I loved it and have been a fan since.
Fast forward 34 years and I took my young son (who had just started playing guitar at age ten) to see Trower at the Meridian in Houston in 2008. Trower opened with "Twice Removed from Yesterday" and I thought I had gone back into a time warp. No seats, so we all pushed to get as close to the stage as possible...my son was just a few feet away from Robin.
And the opening act was the Mighty Orq, a Texas blues musician. He saw my son at the front of the crowd and after his set he came down and gave one of his guitar picks to my son. Quite the experience!
Thank you TNT for taking me down memory lane. And enjoy some more Trower Power!
Hey guys, I've seen Robin about 10 times in Houston and Dallas and that album is from the mid 70s. I used to blow my friends heads off with Trower. I met him once also. Robin is from the U.K., he's about 80 now and probably still touring, he lives on the road.
