- I'm a sucker for trying interesting diets! With that said, I decided to try the carnivore diet for an entire week. The diet has made some big headlines lately. Even talked about in great detail on Joe Rogan's podcast with Shawn Baker and Jordan Peterson.
For those of you who don't know what the diet is, it's an extremely restrictive diet that focuses on ONLY eating animal products mainly coming from red meat.
The diet supposedly has many health benefits such as weight loss, reduce inflammation, fewer digestive problems, increased mental clarity and more.
Out of all diets I've tried, this one was definitely the hardest!
Hope you enjoy the video :)

With a zero carb diet like this you're gonna be excreting a ton of sodium. Might have been why you felt awful around 9:30 - you gotta add a surprising amount of salt to get your sodium levels back up.
Carnivore adaptation period is definitely rough though - you'll want to get a 32 inch monitor as well as a wall mount and hook that up to a PS4 in your bathroom right in front of your toilet

I did carnivore for a month and transitioned into zero carb then keto, then finally a moderate carb diet. I did it all for my ibs and it helped immensely. Carnivore was a great elimination diet for me but I couldn't stand smelling like meat all the time and my neighbors hated me for making the hall smell like meat everyday lol ironically even though I have ibs I never got diarrhea on carnivore, my bathroom habits were actually great, though I did poop less.
I did something similar. I think one reason Will felt bad was because he didn’t listen to his body saying it wasn’t hungry to try to get his calories in. I’ve been in a deficit since May and didn’t start lifting til July and my muscle and strength has grown significantly because I hit my protein and use my fat as fuel. If I’m not hungry I don’t eat.

Yes, a lot of people do carnivore to reverse autoimmune conditions. I did it for a few years and reversed a few autoimmune conditions and literally got my life back because I was very very sick and overweight a few years ago. Eventually lost almost 70 pounds, went down 4 sizes, lost about 10% body fat (possibly more) and now I eat a much wider variety of food. I am still working on my health and have bigger fitness goals. Became a trainer/health coach in the process of it all because of the dramatic change in my health and fitness. It was all so worth it but I wouldn't want to do it for the rest of my life. I went back to keto and now I'm starting to add back in more food slowly, but will probably stay fairly low carb most days with carbs centered around my workouts and higher carb days here and there. I am not into being dogmatic or make any WOE a religion. Thank God I love meat!!

I went straight from a trash diet to carnivore and my biggest issue was the carb flu I got from being use to all the complex carbs I was eating. After about 3 days I started feeling amazing.
dude, this is super interesting... i've basically been living like this my whole life due to growing up circumstances (different country and culture)... every time I start trying to change out from a quasi carnivore diet i start getting headaches, i get moody and nauseous, the same symptoms you mentioned when you got into the carnivore diet, so it makes me wonder if it's a thing your body have to get used to.
Cutting carbs from your diet is pretty tough the first 5 days to a week but then you should feel ok if not better, i dont know if its the other way around like in your position.
He had to quit coffee for a week
In short, yes, causing your body to completely change its fuel source is going to be rough, I've been in and out of a keto/carnivore lifestyle since 2018 quite a few times and even though I've done it a few times I still have issues if I try to change it too fast, or if I don't get enough salt in when transitioning off of carbs.

This was the only diet video I've seen Will do where I was actually hungry watching. I can understand going full carnivore may be difficult, but I can certainly get on board with having more carnivore and fewer carbs. What I definitely could not do is cut out coffee. All the symptoms of headache and lethargy are what I experience if I go without coffee for a day. I recently cut down on carbs and substituted more protein from meat and eggs, and I have noticed a huge reduction in gas and bathroom issues. But I am not 100% carnivore though, which I imagine would be a huge shock to the system.

@@mintbaby4749it is mainly because you’ve got to balance the fat to protein ratio so that most of your calories come from fat rather than protein, eating lots of chicken, turkey etc means you’ll end up eating more protein than fat which will lead to protein poisoning which is deadly, red meats have the higher fat percentages.

Probably a mix of many things. It's not even close to a well balanced diet. He's missing his caffine, the fiber, many vitamins and minerals, only fat is from animal sources.
I am doing good on 95%carnivore. I allow cocoa powder and mct oil in my decaf coffee, eat 95% dark chocolate after dinner. keep my electrolytes up pink salt, potassium, magnesium, calcium. mostly eating beef, ground and ribeye's and eggs with butter added =) I use apple cider vinegar twice a day with meal and drink bone broth. I use freeze dried beef liver, heart, kidney caps for the extra nutrition. I make my own lemon water with salt potassium and a little bit of monk fruit powder about three quarts a day. Only cook with butter, lard, or coconut oil. High fat moderate protein very low sugar does work for me. Gone from 393lbs to 300lbs so far lol now I just need to get more active at least for what my back will allow. My weight and work kicked my back's ass. 8:50 it's interesting to see how Will's mood and energy changes with these diet challenges, but I feel like the 4+ cups of coffee per day --> 0 cups per day will almost always guarantee some headaches, fatigue, maybe irritability.
Not necessarily. It's well established that there are different "caffeine metabolizers," which just means caffeine sensitivity, tolerance, withdrawal symptoms, etc. is dependent on the individual. I consume 600mg caffeine per day but have gone cold turkey for a month with no symptoms.
uhh it seems like people forget that if you go on a carnivore diet, you're going to enter into ketosis.... which means that you will get the symptoms of keto flu - which he is not doing anything to ease symptoms. Otherwise, an exclusive meat diet is very easy past htat.

THIS! The guy eats doughnuts like a fiend so yeah all of that sugar, garbage and carb withdrawal is going to make him feel like hell.
I felt like I was literally gonna die. I went on 16:8 intermittent fasting with no carb control and then maybe 5 or 6 weeks later a 21 day fast for religious reasons. I lasted 20 days and when I say I felt like I was literally gonna die, I mean it. I ended up with palpitations and irregular heartbeat. I googled it and it said that there was a real chance my heart could stop so I broke the fast. Kind of reminded me of alcohol withdrawal. I've never been through that but people die from alcohol withdrawal if it's bad enough. I got through it but now I'm traumatized. I want nothing to do with "yummy" things...
@@franny5295 What religion is there where you don't eat for 21 days? Sounds like you're trying to kill yourself.
@@franny5295even if you ate correctly (good balanced diet) you might still be experiencing problems when fasting for so long. Our bodies deal with it how they fan but it doesn't mean it's easy on them.
Any radical change of diet will make you feel bad.
Traditional diets tend to boil their meats instead of frying or grilling... I'm curious if that might help with the stomach issues. I knew a Lakota elder and she told me that growing up they boiled everything. She told me that once her kids started taking care of her and cooking all her food they were frying and grilling and that it didn't feel good in her stomach. I imagine that when changing a diet so drastically it may take time to adjust the stomach flora to handle the dense food. Our stomachs aren't just blenders that grind up the food. It's a chemical process between the food and our stomach enzymes and bacteria. This takes time.
The main lesson I’ve learned from doing this diet myself is that it’s never just a fart...
any old man will tell you "never trust a fart"
Eating decent quality food and balance your omega 6 to 3 ratios and it's not a problem, sadly most people listen to Peterson and Baker spouting about how quality of food doesn't matter, and to just consume "beef, salt, and water".
Makis Equinox Wait I’ve never heard Jordan Peterson recommend people to the carnivore diet. I heard him say he found it helpful for his autoimmune disorder, but nothing past that.

Today I passed the 7 day mark on the Carnivore diet. What drove me to it was I had reached a resting blood pressure of 191/110. Early this morning - right when I actually passed the seven day mark, my blood pressure came in at 122/80. The bulk of the excess blood pressure came off in the first 3 days. In fact in the very first day, my blood pressure dropped from 191/110 to 160/100. The very first day.
But if you look up blood pressure and the carnivore diet, all the medical professionals are saying “If you have high blood pressure, do not do the carnivore diet.” Modern medicine has life threateningly (to patient lives) bad biases.

You got to get through the first week or two at least to get yourself completely adjusted. I have been on carnivore for the most part for a little less than 5 months. I have lost around 77lbs. Just recently started going to the gym. Lost most of that weight just with the diet. It is like keto but hard core. I love the results I am getting. You don’t need to eat if you’re not hungry in carnivore. You only eat when you are hungry and eat until you are comfortably stuffed. Pork rinds are a good snack to chill with.
It helps you lose fat and gain muscle so if you are already jacked you don’t necessarily have to change what you are doing- it has helped me to get down from 311 lbs to 234lbs in less than 5 months. You can transform your health and revolutionize your way of living with this diet. It is worth pushing through the keto flu and the carnivore poops to have the overwhelmingly better results later. I challenge someone reading this to try it for 30-90 days. You will more than likely drop 30 lbs in 30 days easily if you do exactly what Dr. Berry says on his channel.
Sounds about like what I did, I've never been dogmatic about it, it was just a means to an end. It got me from a 6.7 A1C to 4.3 so I'm not worrying about diabetes medication anymore, I lost 70lbs as well, but put most of it back on when I went off of carnivore. I'm getting it back off by switching to keto, but the bulk of my calories are still carnivore. It's not reasonable to ask Will to give it the required amount of time to adjust to carnivore, but if he'd done it immediately after his week of keto he'd probably have had a better time with it.

I found myself to be constantly hungry when I did carnivore for 2 weeks, after doing keto for 6 months solidly strict. Lost an additional 7 lbs while no longer tracking macros. Was still making sure to get proper electrolytes.
Edit: if you are dealing with diabetes issues, strict keto will be amazing for you for 3 mm months. Going carnivore after that, and you'll find your a1c back to normal levels by the time your next blood work is done.

You should try the alternate day fasting routine! It looks like fun, you can eat whatever you want for 12 hours, then fast for 36!!
There's no need for that to be healthy as some think
@@saltycashew9807 of course there isn't, but same applies to this madness!
@@a_fuckin_spacemarine7514 I think it is not the same..
@@diegonehorta you're right, carnivore is much much worse!
@@a_fuckin_spacemarine7514 Those are both really bad diets.
will: let me just wait for the vegans to leave the room
me, a vegan: thinking about what am i doing in here
I'm also vegan for health reasons, but I am interested to learn how different diets affect people's focus, digestion, and overall state of well-being.
@Sequoiah Dreams Yep, I did the same. His girlfriend is vegan, and he has done vegan challenges.
same
@unkown man so what? As long as that person isn't , I don't see why they should care or what they can do about it even if they did.
Accepting other people's choices, even if that choice is eating enough meat that even people who eat meat finds it excessive to the point that its grotesque. I eat meat but this is... this is painful to watch.
Can we just appreciate Ollie’s acting skills in that opening skit, he is definitely going places
Will has serious willpower. The carnivore diet looks absolutely depressing to me lol the fact you did it without coffee ontop of it is rough af. Respect
I actually don't see why you can't add coffee or some types of vegetables and herbs into your carnivore diet though. Adding some pepper and zucchini would make a huge difference taste wise and is still considered keto. Even carnivores do not exclusively eat meat in nature. Will should also add some innards to his diet and not exclusively eat the muscle fibre meat, the innards have higher micro nutritional value and are essential to this type of diet.
@@bodycounter9386it's a bit misleading of you to say carnivores don't exclusively eat meat.. they only eat plants when they're predigested in the stomach of an animal they've killed. Carnivore is meat only and also, eating steak is delicious. Every time. Fat is satiating and extremely good for you.
@@bodycounter9386This is wrong. You don't need any organs on the carnivore diet, just muscle meat and its associated fats is enough. That's it.
2:30 was really hoping you'd say "it wasn't a racoon. It was just a kid"
Finally another intellectual!
Tim Steinhauser We’re just all glad that you’re ‘intellectual’ enough in your infinite wisdom not to reproduce then.
" I significantly under cooked that steak, like it was still mooing as it was going down my throat which was pretty unsettling" LOL I laughed so quick at that statement. I've never heard that before, one of a kind right there haha.
Steak on the plate was so raw it started to eat the salad - Gordon Ramsey
same lol
Steak was so raw a well trained vet could have revived it.
If you add some fruit, honey, raw milk and raw cheese it really is a delicious diet. I follow more of an animal based diet so it’s not necessarily carnivore. I’ve been doing it for awhile and I feel great on it.
I've wanted to try this diet and have heard the first few weeks you feel absolutely horrible, but after that passes you feel better than before
Did this diet for 5 months strict and went from 250 to around 170 pounds, the first 2 weeks will be your break in period your body with get used to the little to no carbs but once you get into the third or fourth week you should begin to feel better. Big problem when first starting is obviously the bathroom troubles and the extreme headaches, a good way to counteract the headaches from my experience is to get some pink Himalayan salt from the store and put about a pinch or two into your water and let it dissolve and drink it, I noticed that that helped a lot with the initial headaches the bathroom troubles will get better over time I was actually to point of only using the bathroom(not including peeing) 2-3 times a week maximum
this guy is single handedly changing the fitness youtuber landscape with the creativity and the amount of thought that not only goes into every video but every scene, its awsome to see, keep up the great work
The hardest choices require the strongest of will.

Fabricio Larios doesn’t mean it’s the right choice
Thanos was right.
Strongest of Will*
Ah, motivation at its fullest.
i did this for about a month and it was fine. But I really dont like cooking every meal so I knew it wouldnt stick. But one thing I do credit it for is getting me in the habit of ghosting past 99% of the grocery store. So when I expanded my diet to something more sustainable it was still super easy to just go past all the crap food without even thinking about buying it.
You can eat it raw :)
@@Tqrikka I'm not liver king. I'm not primal enough for that.
I agree with the cooking part sometimes I’m in rush or out of town . But I am ketovore . So cooking eggs quickly helps and some cheese and I eat a lot of fruit . NO veggies No grains etc . I thrive better this way fruit is good for me
brother your script is real bomb

Could you do the Victoria secret diet/workout for a week? I know it’s a “women’s” diet but I think it would be interesting to see your opinion on it
Graci Parker he would legit pass out after 2 days. Those diets aren’t even enough for the average woman lol
@@lindam156 ikr makes me wonder how the hell could they stay active, having abs and even getting pregnant! I know ppl who under-eat and lost the agility to be pregnated during that period.
Linda M They do eat enough, Victoria secret models have like 1500 cals a day.
The models are healthy, and they’re not too skinny at all.
The high fashion models who work for the big name brands have extremely skinny models.
VS models are more muscular and healthy..
Cookie K
Some eat under that: 1,300 calories
@@cookiek3350 1500 is a 400-500 deficit tho and they're still working out each day, probably burning up to 400 calories. 1,100 isn't sustainable...
Idea: Put Ollie in as Tom Cruise for the scene in A Few Good Men
AND...
Look at that transition starting at 4:15
that transition was sweet
Do we all just expect these amazing intros everytime? You spoil us bro
I remember watching this in 2020 and it made my year
Next challenge: Eating Ollie's diet for a day
I'm gonna go out on a limb and accredit your headaches/mood swings/etc. to the lack of coffee. I'm guessing those symptoms would be much less severe if you weren't addicted to coffee prior to going into this diet.
Grunik thats what i was thinking too! 🧐 or perhaps sugar withdrawls
Keto flu probably. Almost no carbs so he went into ketosis.
He loves food he's not a guy who likes efficiency of a diet etc he actually has a love for food etc so it'd be hard for him
Your headaches are due to sugar withdrawal......
I think he should do 2 (or even 3) week challenges. One week is so short, he can't know what affected what
I did carnivore for a month. I had no issues with energy or hunger. But oh man, the bathroom situation was brutal and the biggest reason I'd never do it again. Had to be within close range of one 24/7 because at any time it could go from nothing to emergency extremely quickly.
I kind of accidentally fell into this diet. I do drink black coffee still and o take my vitamins everyday.
I got sick so i guess you could say i went on a fast. When i felt better all i wanted was meat. So ive basically existed off of deer roast so far. I do season it with salt,.pepper and sometimes garlic.
So far what ive noticed is mostly good. I no longer have to take stomach meds, bathroom issues are better, no bloating. The only downside was being extremely tired. That is starting to get better now though.
I dont plan on keeping this diet. O need to gain, not lose weight. I love how this seems to have helped reset my gut though. Im going to start adding some veggies in and then go from there. Figure out what my stomach likes and what it doesnt.
I did a similar diet and can understand the low energy and feeling of lethargy, and found that I could prevent it by adding a little more salt. Sounds like you're going through withdrawal, it does pass eventually.
Part of what you were feeling with the headaches and no energy was an imbalance of electrolytes. I would suggest to be adding extra sodium throughout the day and 500mg of magnesium before bed.
Honestly, it just sounded like caffeine withdrawal to me. He drinks a ton of coffee.
Your intros are top tier bro
Bravo. Very entertaining. Love it. Thanks .
Dude the acting, the editing , the nutritional advice! Will Keep up the great work guy!
You are the most funniest, educational fitness dude I ever watched,i am on this channel since December and its really good seeing u progress so fast, editing,ur contact with camera, humor,ur the best srsly
I love the idea that in the will Tennyson video storyline, he doesn’t actually care about fitness, but is forced to continually do fitness challenges and unintentionally stays in shape.
I quit caffeine cold turkey before too, whilst being an insane addict, and can confirm that you are feelin the way you are due to that not the all meat diet.
Caffeine AND sugar withdrawals at the same time sounds awful
