In this video, we give you a tour of our newly converted off grid Ford Transit van. We bought this van in Scotland and after making a few changes, we are finally ready to give you a tour of our BIG RED.

Beautiful home, I loved everything about it. I wish a way could have been made for the toilet to have a slide out from the shower as opposed to lifting it in and out.

I haven't seen your entire series, but if you haven't, you should get a hole made from your gas cupboard and out into nature if a leaky seal were to occur. 👍

I don’t think there’s ever the perfect conversion, there’s always going to be compromises but I think Big Red is close to perfect and you’ve done a fantastic job. I love the ceiling!
Good choice with the fabric bulkhead curtain to block out the cabin.

Not picking....but just a little observation, what will happens to those small containers ( or even some others as well) near Tea nook, when you have to suddenly apply the breaks or when you are driving uphill or downhill with some angle ? Won't they move and spill the things inside ??😊

Carbon monoxide is a heavy gas, heavier then air so you might want to keep the detector at a lower height so you won’t suffocate in your sleep. And I love your van! Have a great time van-liveing!

Mate in the same battery space you can add 3-7 KW LFP battery. Which can give you 3 days of off grid capability

I noticed that the US and the UK do vans differently. The UK always blocks off the connection between van and drivers area. So they put the kitchen in front. The US has it open so they put the kitchen on the side. Not sure which is better.

for your safety please check out the proper location for your detector, i believe the carbon monoxide is heavier than air therefore it should be near the floor.
What’s next upgrades? AC for summer? Rooftop deck? All terrain wheels and a 5 inch lift for off-road?

Fire extinguisher near the gas cylinder is not advisable. If there is fire due to gas you can not reach to the extinguisher.
You could get a waterproof cover for the toilet then you could sit and shave and wash your feet easier, beautiful van!

We plan on travelling the UK and Europe at the moment but you never know. We might just decide to take the van back to South Africa. But we will have to see😊

Looks like a very dodgy gas installation. That gas bottle should be in a gas tight locker , can't see in the video if you have drop out vent or not. For long term van living you should also consider a refillable LPG tank, much cheaper than exchanging bottles. You are also going to have a problem if you don't have a spare bottle as you will run out and not have a spare or end up replacing while it still has gas in it. an underslung tank would free up more cupboard space and be a lot safer. Have a look at Gasit underslung tanks.
You will also have a problem for with exchange gas bottles if you go outside the UK. Refillable tank with European fill adapters is the way to go.
