Mini DOQ | 556 Honey Badger | Function Testing

- Over the course of a year, the engineers at Q developed the 5.56 honey badger, overhauling the original 300 BLK design with a new recoil system, muzzle device and select materials. All while maintaining its iconic lightweight, compact design. The team tested the new system over the course of 5 months shooting over 40,000 rounds… with the common goal of breaking the gun…
They couldn’t.
i like the optic bouncing around on the rail, really shows the competence of the company 😂
Don’t see how the optic has anything to do w these tests?
I want you to articulate in very specific detail how the optic affects a function test.
Love the behind the scenes stuff, keep it coming
Eotechs work even when loose and flopping around. Awesome!
Lol true xD
Transparency is a critical component to bringing something “new” like this to the market. Thank you for posting this!
The pursuit of perfection. Thank you for sharing a part of the journey
So this is basically just another ar15 that does the same thing as any other ar-15 but for 5x the price?
I miss sitting and talking to Ethan and Nick about anything and everything. Two of the smartest dudes I have met.
Did they happen to mention anything about how to properly mount an optic?
@@jb76489 we talked optic mount and stuff.
I want this job! Lol did civil engineering in college but would go back and get my mechanical if I could do this!
Excellent to see the team working together. The extreme attention to detail. In every functioning part of the Q HB 556/223. A true pleasure to watch. We love this stuff. Incredible, powerful, compact, and reliable machines. A piece of Art. Peace
now this is like the perfect amount of content in one vid
Good shit. But please stagger that tuning fork you're putting on the muzzle. Holy jeebus! 🤣
I noticed that too😂
Everyone complaining about barrel length must not have a MCX rattler with 5.5” barrel. Every gun has a purpose, the honey badger has always been to be light weight and short. I have the 300 version and now I might get the 5.56 pistol.
“Magic ain’t cheap” -KB.
Neither are torque wrenches apparently lmao
I want to see a gel test of the performance of 556 with a 1/5 twist
Lmfao “We HaVe ReAl EnGiNeErS!¡” well evidently they can’t torque an eotech to a rail properly. Which, as someone who works with engineers on a daily basis, doesn’t surprise me. Like a very wise man once told me “Engineers? Yeah engineers should have stayed on the fuggin train” 😂
unpossible!!!!!🤯
Genuinely curious to know at how many rounds their stainless steel barrel shot out?
Technology has evolved tremendously. My Heckler & Koch 91 was rated to 90K rounds. Probably 30K to 40K on the SS barrel. And not using reloads.
@6:15 to see the optic dance around because there is no Q in QC… well at least for Q
What’s the torque spec for mounting an eotech? Pretty sure it’s not 0 foot pounds
This would be sick in 6.5 Grendel. I built my own with the SBT HBPDW furniture and an ADM lower. All FDE. Grendel reaches out and retains energy better than most might think.
“Yeeeeees! Science!”
That’s what we like to see 🤘🏼
Question: the upper says 300BLK, is it the same upper with different bbl, gb, gas system, and maybe a different bcg?
It’s in the video
When will new muzzle device be available?
Listening to that flash hider is rough on the ears. Same frequency as my tinnitus.
Curious as to why a 9.6” barrel was picked?
Can you give us a list of the ammo shot suppressed and unsuppressed?
This thing is loud! Where’s the 556 can???
soon
Any update on the 556 can?
Q, LLC, can't wait for the live drawing for the giveaway! 🙏🤞🖖
neither can we
I’m sold Lol
do you do a similar test with different attachments and site systems?
we absolutely have
I would get one if they made in all Black!! Not a fan of the mixed color tans.
Spray paint is pretty cheap!
Ha !!! I’m spray painting a 1,600.00 Ar that just me. Merry Christmas 🎄
so just an ar15 as well?
I’m confident in my ability to break this gun.
what makes you so sure?
@@qllc8143 I work for the government. I can break anything.
Shooting the wrong caliber doesn’t count!
@@Monkeybasher97 lol. Hey whatever you can make fit, counts.
Can this accept a 60 round mag ?
It will take any standard 5.56 magazine
Dust covers be damned!
you don't need one
Single handedly savaging the 556 round from boredom
What’s the purpose of a 556 this short?
Shooting things
@@contractor556 bro I’ll catch these with my hands
Dang that's loud!!!
So a ar15?
sure... but like way better
@@qllc8143 doubtful
@@qllc8143how so?
Toiling away... Another tough day “at the office", eh, fellas? 😢 #PaidToShoot #DreamJob
Out of curiosity, why go shorter than 10.3 with a barrel for .223 or 5.56?
Compactness
And fast twist. Lighter weight too.
Watch Clear & Present Danger some time when Willem Dafoe has the OA-93.

@@kevinbrittingham6774 I get the compact and lightweight, that’s obvious.
I own a honey badger. It’s my favorite gun, I own q triggers, I own q suppressors, in case anyone thinks I’m hating.
I think you guys know what I’m referring to with what was previously known about barrel lengths. Was this all bro science? I’ve seen tons and tons of testing done with damn near every length barrel. Does the 1:5 twist change things?
HoNeY bAdGeR iS bEtTeReR.
it is
Buttt wait shirt barreled 5.56 are useless and not accurate. How are they hitting the target so consistently.
Fast twist 🤷🏽♀️
@@kevinbrittingham6774 lol I was quoting the haters!
If your engineers think that optic is good to go... I can only imagine how fucked your future products are going to be
It's function testing not accuracy testing.
@@qllc8143 And that matters how? It shows the absolute lack of attention to detail your shit ass company is known for.
Need to make a shorter length of pull. Thing is like A2 length for a compact cqb system. Whoever’s testing ergonomics must be like 6’5”
6'9" actually
@@qllc8143 makes sense. I’m 6’3” 210 and the length of pull felt weird. Do you guys ever cut another slot an inch or two in for a shorter pull on that extending arm of the stock?
A $3K gun surviving 40K rounds without breaking isn’t impressive, it should be expected at that price point.
😂 yeah, sure. I’m sure all of the other gun companies do the same thing
Everything breaks, no matter the cost. 40,000 rounds through an ar without exchanging components is impressive, whether you want to admit it or not.
@@kevinbrittingham6774you do got me there.
Are these "$3K" thanks hope this helps have a Great weekend 👌
This is a joke gun. Anything below 10.5 is useless
maybe watch one of their videos on this gun so you can figure out why the short barrel doesn't matter 🙂
this is a joke comment
