2021 Volkswagen Tiguan Review: The Best Affordable SUV

  • This week I spent some time with the 2021 VW Tiguan S... this particular car was a base trim FWD car, but boy was it the definition of 'bang for buck'. In spite of its low $20k price tag, this thing oozes quality and refinement, and while I'm young enough to admit that I still hold performance/sportiness in the highest regard, I can't disqualify the value proposition that the Tiguan offers.
    The 2022 model year brings a facelift, because of this, prospective buyers can look towards a full year of hefty discounts ahead! The VW Tiguan, particularly when under $30k, offers an unrivaled overall package, and for this fact it is my favorite AFFORDABLE compact SUV on the market !!

    The review I was looking for 🤟🏼. I have a Jetta but need a bigger vehicle for moving. I’m debating between getting a new Tiguan S or lightly used Q3.

    • @Reoniz
      @Reoniz  Před 3 lety +2

      Appreciate it!! I haven’t done a video either the Q3 yet, but I have spent some time driving one and I can’t lie, I wasn’t that impressed. Of course the car has quite a bit more ‘pizzazz’ but the overall experience wasn’t superb. It does feel like a Golf on stilts which may a plus for you haha. Both solid cars though, good luck!

    Good job on the review. I think you hit the main point : you can get a Tiguan SE with sunroof for about $27k + TTL. It's a very roomy, comfortable, and well equiped SUV and it's quite elegant looking and stylish. Compare that to a Forrestor Limited which is more practical but not great looking at a price tage of aroudn $31k . You should also look at the CX-5. You can get a great well equipped, stylish and fun to drive Touring or GT for #28-$30k. Another great deal.

    • @Reoniz
      @Reoniz  Před 3 lety +1

      I'm not certain, and Consumer Reports would better answer than specific question... what I will say is if you're buying new you'll have plenty of warranty, so not too much to worry about for a while

    You try sliding the second row seat forward a bit (since they have so much space in 2nd row anyway) and sitting in the 3rd row? There is a hump in the 3rd row that gives more headroom.

    Don't confuse the car as a whole with the trim. Its the trim that makes it a distinctive and specialized vehicle. The base car is utilitarian, while the SEL premium makes it more luxurious, and more sporty.

    • @Reoniz
      @Reoniz  Před 3 lety +2

      Of course, I’ve actually sat in an SEL Premium R Line, and while it is indeed quite a bit nicer than a base S, there are a lot of cars for around that money that offer more “standard luxury” ... essentially what I’m trying to say is that to me the S and the SE are at price points where the whole Tiguan package makes sense... IMO

    Just bought the wife the 2021 SE with the panoramic sunroof, side steps, upgraded 18” rims, navigation, leatherette heated seats, etc(fully loaded) and she loves it! She gets about 28 mpg, and the ACC is amazing!! You never have to break or gas unless it comes to a complete stop at a red light! But get it to about 2mph and it takes over again!! I just love VW’s!! Traded my 2010 jetta tdi for it and do not regret it! But our’s was a bit more expensive (36k)
