KD is the definition of a player having the power to say I have the right to go anywhere. The owners don't want that kind of player freedom. They want the players to be treated like they are in the zoo or circus where they just stay put benefiting one city for years. While the player understands there are other owners too who can benefit their city or states where they can go to.
Certain owners don't take advantage to build around that star to keep him around for years. And a player like Durant who is lost into the art of the game is more interested in finding the best quality of the game that brings out his best form.
Then the owners will send out the old heads like Shaq or Chuck or Stephen A Smith who will say back in the days it was against a code for star players to team up. Those in the media regardless of what they accomplished in the past don't represent the current generation but work for the owners. Where the owners use the media networks to send out messages to keep players in check and send out messages, they want the fans to hear from their perspectives.
Honestly it has long been confirmed from where these old heads stand, they are always going after current players to keep them in check. They use all type of forms to go after them to diminish their career once the players don't follow in line and this is the power play of ownership vs star players knowing their own value.
It used to be only certain media passes anything related to player from their own perspective. Now with the number of media and social networks players have their own outlets to control their own stories. The fact KD uses the social networks to air out his points of view and chooses to go where we wants is the biggest threat to the old ways of doing things.
So that's why you see the old heads every week on TNT or ESPN go after Durant to try to paint the picture he is not leader, a follower, bus rider in order to have his views diminished. They don't want other stars doing what he does so they are setting an example that if you go against the original ways and ignore our media we will come after you are speaking anything about that has nothing to do with your game. There is no better example of it than TNT and ESPN zooming on KD and his hair just to leave that image in the eyes of the fans when they hear about him after calling him a follow in same sentence.
Most viewers have already figured out the plants and who they represent and not the players but the league and the owners and sponsors. So, when those who used to play with this player speak up and represent it is more enjoyable to consume. Their viewers are diminishing, and they are turning into alternatives but when you see or hear same plants its ignored quickly.
Keep it up JJ you are the one who will be remembered, and we stand along eventually while this old-world monkey disappears from repeating same words every week.

But Curry is a far better leader and managing to keep a team together, engaged and happy for years is at least in part due to him being the person he is. Durant is not that guy. So no, KD could not have done what Curry has done with the Warriors, and that includes recruiting KD to become a part of something greater.

The media seemed to have forgotten JJ how they were pointing their fingers at KD saying he was faking his injury. For the value of entertainment, the league, media and doctors approved him saying he was good to play risking his career.
They have not once spoken about him coming back from injury and where really quiet when he came back stronger being a toe line away from beating the eventually champs putting up the greatest game in elimination history. That same summer he carried his country on his back against all odds bring home a gold medal.
Remember this is just a year after learning to walk away. They were really quiet like mice nowhere to be seen or heard but next year when he has one bad series against the Celtics that held, grabbed and fouled him throughout the series. They came out right after the series ended firing shots from left and right. They were really quiet when he was shining the brightest but were really loud once he became anything less.
They don't want to mention how he has been consistently injured after they almost ruined his career. Now he is playing his best finally looking more healed up guarding the best player every night while putting up career highs. The biggest tragic in history of sports media and we will look back and dismiss why we even watch certain networks and analyst soon because of how they disrespected the purest hooper to ever touch the floor.

Let's not forget kd has made his own narratives. No one can just diminish someone's greatness. He's great when not much is on the line but he's a toothpick in the playoffs and flimsy. I'm a basketball player through and through. Kd can make tough shots that look tough but when things get tough no one considers having kd in top 5. If you say when he was on the warriors? Yeah he got mvp of the finals his goal he set out for. I mean watch the games every fast break kd through the middle for easy dunks because klay and steph were on the wings setting up for three and just gave kd the 2s and he took advantage of being on one of the greatest teams ever. Idk he's good he's a bit of a freak of height and talent. It's the fact that his teams he's been on cant win in the playoffs. A good basketball player isn't just pure stature and making difficult shots against buddy buddy regular season basketball. If you make easy shots for your teammates take easy shots for yourself play basketball unselfishly to win. That's the only stat that matters up on the score board but if you want a player checking the box score how many points they had in a loss and is happy with what they did kd is your boy. Then act angry at everyone else, look at my greatness best to ever do it. Okay no one agrees that's why this is the conversation

    no he isnt.
Whatever you say about it, you can say it about anyone else in recent memory. The reason we dont talk more about it is because everyone in media wants to count rings and compare players instead of enjoying and apreciating them for who they are. KD is a walking chance for a shot at the championship, just walking into the building, and the best part is he proves it and as a fan that's all I want from him. It was such a joy to watch the Nets vs Bucks series, and a reminder of who he has been.
People will look back and say "omg, we got complacent with someone so great for so long as Lebron. We wanted to talk so much about who he isnt, his rings and how he compares to MJ, and didnt get to enjoy enough what he was doing in the moment", and will have one of those for KD, Curry, Dame, Russ, Harden... everyone.
At some point this players wont be there anymore, Kobe, Duncan, Dirk, Garnett, Wade... And if you feel like you didnt watch those guys enough, and you didnt enjoy their moments, it's your fault. I dont care who they are playing, but if KD put up 50 points im celebrating it, if Lebron gives us another playoff miracle run im enmarking it next to the other dozen, as long as Curry is shooting I'll be watching, if Harden moves to his 5th team in a month I'll be disapointed while watching him be the best passer or scorer in the league at will... Picking against this guys is dumb and you will miss them, so dont.

As always, when we have to rank a player, someone in the top 10 to 20 must be moved out. That means we have to scrutinise every single detail of their career. The problem with the fans of these guys is that they get emotional when they are losing the debate and just say, "let's just appreciate greatness".

I've had season tickets to the clippers 10 rows back facing the clippers bench for a long time. I've seen Kevin Durant play when he was with the thunder, A LOT.
Anyway, I saw him do this twice...
Standing above the top of the key at the three-point line caught a high pass one-handed and in the air and basically volleyballed the ball in for three points without touching the ground. Basically a 3 point alley oop.
I've seen all the greats, and I've never seen anything like that. Twice.
I saw him do this twice. And I knew we were done.
    A very goaty player

KD is not underappreciated.. i agree with everyone that he is an all time great but the hate comes from that GSW switch.. the switch was too ugly and after that how he followed with the nets and now the suns just put things into perspective. What I feel he should’ve done is he should have stayed in OKC for a year more or something. Or maybe not leave the nets like how he did. He is a assassin when it comes to pure basketball but what we are watching isn’t just basketball right.. its much more!

No, everyone knows Durant is a great basketball player. Of the Top-15 players of all-time, KD effectiveness as a leader is questionable, as a culture setter for championship basketball -- He hasn't displayed that ability. It's not "bullshit discourse. We know KD is a bucket, we know he can fit into an already established championship team (Golden State) -- as one of the best 15 players of all-time, you're going to be held to a higher standard. Stats isn't as important, it's a team game -- winning comes before everything.

The criticism KD got in Brooklyn was what? not taking control of the situation with Kyrie, instead of being team first -- he was Kyrie first. All of this is leadership or lack thereof.
