Thank you Joe for another great painting, I have a huge watercolor canvas I got from hobby lobby, and I still don't know which landscape to put on it, but I'm super scared and excited to start it 😳
Did anyone pickup on the paint Joe is using. Just goes to show you that getting your chops down and technique is more important than using expensive paint!
You are right Bob and I purposely use cheaper paints because I feel that most folks will pick up from Wal mart or similar places to try it out. But you really don’t need expensive paint especially as a hobby. Thanks for the comment.
In my opinion; I find there is no watercolor effect that can't be achieved with brushes OTHER than hake brushes......and without the utter and total frustration.....(I have a full set of RR Hakes for sale cheap....LMAO)
Hello and thank you for your comment. Ron Ranson himself did say that some students did get frustrated but the reason I think is the size of the brush. One benefit is that it is meant to help stop fiddling because it’s not a detail brush. It’s meant for washes, shapes, and things like that it’s supposed to help students paint in a loose manner. One could say the same about say the Bob Ross technique. He uses large brushes and you could use other brushes and get similar results. All brushes are tools and as artists not all tools are going to be the choice of every artist just as every technique is not for everyone. Thanks again for the comment.
So very well put Joe I have and use an embarrassing amount and variety of brushes I find "watercolour effect" is obtained through use of water as you have demonstrated with acrylic ink
Thank you. What I find most important is the tools and techniques that inspire people to get started. I was drawn to the big brush method having tried several other mediums and techniques and I found this way to be the most fun.
Back to Basics! Hey everyone hope this video helps you to get started. Remember to subscribe, like, comment. 🎉
You never fail to show the fun!!
This is great! I've wanted someone to show the basics with a hake brush. I love this style. Thank you so very much. More, please!!!
Love the format of this video! So inviting and encouraging. I really want to try and go back to the basics
So beautiful! I’m definitely gonna try this !
Absolutely stunning ❤
Thank you I actually tried to keep this one very basic.
