It is amazing how far you have come since painting furniture in your parents garage! Your talent and work ethic is so admirable and something that others can take from your channel. Beautiful work as always!
I agree with EVERYTHING Rebecca said.💥💥💥💥❤
Hey! Thank you for the thorough step by step process, especially with the detailed information on the sprayer! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Your video is the best I’ve come across. You even let us watch you actually paint from the start of the furniture painting and included cleanup of the sprayer. Bravo!!! Everyone could learn from you (myself included) on how to put together a pro tutorial. Thank you for your efforts!
Thank you for doing this. I actually had an outdoor furniture making business and was always baffled with my sprayer. The paint was not waterbased though and getting it to have the right consistency was a coin toss. You had to time the drops coming through the strainer to see if the thickness was right or too dense. it was a pain in the A. Kudos to Neiman. he is not in front of the camera so much but without him helping to haul the pieces I dont know what you would do. At 64 I have extensive furniture building and restoring experience but have no helper and that is stopping me from getting back into doing it. God bless your efforts, enthusiasm and love for each other.
Thanks for this tutorial! I’ve had a paint sprayer and tent for a year now and haven’t used them yet! Now is the time!
Go for it!
To make life so much easier buy a plastic bin from Dollar General(2 large ones with lids) to clean your sprayer. I do Fluid Pours and I have to clean my brushes, bottles and jars to clean. I don’t do them in my sinks.(not good for the plumbing). I dump it down the the toilet and not outside because it is not good for the soil even though I only use water base paint. The plastic bins come in handy to wash in one then rinse in the other dump the wash water dry it out line with towels to drain. It also contains everything and it keeps it organized.
Thank you for being so detailed when explaining everything. The dresser is beautiful!
Great instruction Lauren! You really are a good teacher!
The dresser turned out GORGEOUS!! I will definitely be watching this video again when I purchase a sprayer.
For those on a budget may we offer some tips. There are literally dozens of paints that are suitable for repainting or painting furniture pieces. Many are waterbourne and come in many finish levels. Some need a topcoating especially on surfaces that will support objects. As examples flat wall paint or "Chalk Paint", a registered trademark. Coverage depends on many factors; many of the chemical and natural tints are by nature transparent. Red is a great example. Many paintmakers even have specific recommendations for painting and repainting and decoration for furniture so long as proper prep is accomplished.
For home style spraying, even using aerosols, a tent is not perfect but adequate. an older tent in can be sourced from a thrift store or from even a retailer at end of summer prices. A helpful step before doing any painting of any kind is to make certain the fractions of the material are well mixed. Unlike James Bond stirred or shaken is fine. On steel cans with lids, to reduce the bits that accumulate in the female part of the seal, punch 2-3-4 holes in the seal with a nail or an awl. The paper and cheesecloth cone type strainers are many times not made for waterbourne paints. the adhesive attaching the cheesecloth to the paper is water soluble. Test one to see. Straining 99% of paints to be sprayed is mandatory and great insurance. A source for strainers for the budget mindered is panty hose again from thift stores or those with holes.. Toss em on the wash and cut to length, Tie a simple knot and secure with a heavy rubber band..
Spray techniques vary with the type spray paints and equipment. For instance a rattle can V. an airless are really different. Some general tips are to try for a 50% overlap when spraying horizontally. Vertical spraying is best saved for when horizontal is not possible. And example of this is in the video. The furniture shown has an overlapped top leaving the underside of the top a collection point for too much paint to accumulate.. In that some paints and coatings are thixotropic and some are not. The build up in the right angle could run or sag. The solution might be to apply what in the trade is called a pisscoat to the entire area of the leading edge and the right angle of the piece. Just a dusting will suffice
We wonder if the adhesive residue from the removal of the drawer liners accumulated any of the "dust" from sanding. We submit that the residue was likely soluble in paint thinner. Masking the drawers could be less a chore with an "apron taper" that dispenses both masking tape and roll paper. We use one of the standard brown masking tapes and the roll papers in several widths that are compatible with the type paint or coating for the job of work. A handy-dandy tip when doing any type spraywork is to to have at least a small brush at hand for those 'ooops" moments. Sorry about the typos Brain working faster than me fingers sometimes.
Interesting - in different lights it looks different colors: black, then gray, then navy blue! Looks like you need to put a utility sink into your new place! Thanks for the video and instructions:) That look like it even would have been a nice piece in your new home:)
I'm sure I'm not the first to say it but you're clearly a teacher at heart - wonderfully detailed explanation!
You must have been a great teacher. You’re incredibly good at explaining things!
This is an excellent teaching video! First time using a spray gun is a bit intimidating. This is a great help!
Thank you! You explained it so well that I don’t feel so intimidated to try spraying. Love your videos!
This video is great for me. Got my first sprayer and going to give it a try shortly. Tips were awesome Lauren. Thanks😉

It's amazing how much a paint colour changes a piece of furniture 👍🏼
What amazing instructions. You are wonderful.
Your knowledge really comes through the way you explained everything. I love the end result.
Great video! I learned a couple things! I sprayed my first furniture piece a couple weeks ago. I also used GF Milk Paint in Lamp Black. It was so great to work with. I finally got a smooth finish I'm happy with. Glad you're back! I've missed your videos.
Thank you for this amazing video. I will be trying my wagner sprayer for the first time and you've made it so easy. Your furniture piece came out beautiful!
From one educator to another, great teaching video!!! I love the way you explained the nozzle tip and which direction you spray. I may just try a sprayer!
Rocking the demo! All that hard work is going to pay off. Those wood floors are amazing.
You did a great job in explaining how to use a sprayer and clean it. The dresser is gorgeous!
Looking good!
Loved this video. So much information explained so easily. Thank you Lauren😊❤️

This was a great video for explaining the pros and cons of a paint sprayer. This cleared things up for me.
Love it!!!
Thanks for the spraying tips! I was very hesitant to try spraying and put it off for quite awhile. I wanted to refinish my spare bedroom furniture and now will try it.
Thumbs up Always 💕The person who is reading this comment, I wish you great success, health , love and happiness🌸
Awesome job, Lauren! Black is such a rich color. Love it on furniture.
This is very helpful! Looking forward to spraying furniture for the first time next week!
Oh wow! I love it. Good job ❤️
Thank you sooooo very much for this tutorial. You have no idea how timely, nor how badly I needed this!!! You’re right that one of my biggest fears is cleaning a paint sprayer out. It seems so overwhelming to think of it, but honestly, the way you explained everything made it more understandable and less scarey. I’ve been following you for some time now, and truly appreciate your informative videos. I even decided to purchase this sprayer!!! You definitely chose the right name for yourself, because you are a great teacher!!!
Yay! First piece painted and its a beauty. It looks high end. I'm sure your client will be thrilled.🌷🌷

So many helpful instructions and tips. Thanks so much!👍🇨🇦🤠
Once again, great job on your tutorial as well as the finished dresser! Thank you, I really needed this to get my courage up to use my Wagner sprayer and tent as I’m a newbie and a visual learner. Looking forward to your reno journey!
When you have a piece to work on how do you determine if spray or brush will be the best technique for it? With all the plusses you pointed out in this video, I'd be inclined to spray everything.
I am not her, but for me, I prefer to spray everything. It's so much faster and is such a great finish. ;)
I love your videos so much!!!! 😍 Also, the music is always catchy 👌
What a great video !! I appreciate you taking time to explain step by step with details... looks awesome! Really enjoy the format of all your videos!
There's the pink chair!!! Good video, being a teacher really helps!! Note about overspray......even if you are outside, if it's windy especially, that spray will really travel. Like onto your vehicle or your siding.
The monochromatic is beautiful. My first time watching your channel, great job. Also had not seen a furniture spray paint before you made it look like a possible for a beginner.
I hope u do the pour over that I cannot wait to do
THANK YOU! I have tried three different Wagner sprayers. I wanted to throw them into them trash (I actually did). I never heard about using a filter. I still have one, I'll try it again. Thank you so much😊
Jan love it
🤟🏼great tutorial 🤟🏼
Do you have a video on how to fill in hardware holes or a large scratch on top of a wood buffet?
I love the intro!
Some people spray with the drawers shut. Do you? Why don’t the drawers stick shut if you do it? LOVE your videos!
New Subbie here! 👋🏽 I could listen to you all day, love the details, explanation, transparency everything.
Bought a house and have been furnishing it free with Fb marketplace and freebie alerts. Some pieces need work so I’m happy I found your channel so I could learn how to fix them. Not to flip but for the house but you never know 😆
Thanks for sharing this with us! IDK. Spray painting seems harder than what I thought it was...
First I want to say how beautiful this dresser came out...loving that black on black matte Sheen...also I Literally own 2 Wagner sprayers one with the compressor attached and the other flexio 3000 anddd believe it or not Even the critter siphon sprayer....You May ask Why 3 and I still Brush on Every piece 😂😂well that's Kuz I'm SCARED to death and I Guess buying different sprayers I "Thought" it would Work better..Soooo I Give YOU a HUGE Hug Lauren as You definitely Go Slow and Repeat Important things and Like Usual Because you are Such an Amazing Teacher I Think I will be able to FINALLY Gather the nerve to Try One of my Wagner Sprayers... THANK YOU Once Again as you always Reassure me I CAN do this and NOT Allow my Stinking thinking to Hold me back ..And I'm Super excited to See the Airbnb come together ..in this furniture group I'm in on FB there's new flippers that I've referred to Your channel as You Are an AWESOME teacher and you take your time to teach and I feel Your channel is an Awesome Starting Point for beginners ...Stay blessed y'all🥰🙏❣️❣️👍👍
Great informative video . Prepping myself for first time use. Silly question Maine but if spraying outside in an open area how necessary is the tent?
Thank you!
can you please tell us where you got your little wheelie cart? I love it!!
Hi Lauren, dresser looks great. I was wondering where do you get the strainers? I love your work and your honey is precious. You are a wonderful team.
It's beautiful. Did I miss whether or not the paint had a primer?
Hi Lauren, I just wanted to ask you if you are still using your Home Right Super Fine Finish Max and how it's still holding up?
Thank you!
You might have explained this but what's the difference in painting in your "how to use Bondo to fix peeling" video and this one when making a decision to use primer?
Idk if this would be the most interesting video.. but I’m curious how you keep track of everything for taxes 😅
Have you tried or have any insights on using the Critter Spray Gun?
When you pull the drawers out, there’s that inner lip that the drawer closes against. Did you hand paint that? I can’t figure out how to spray that part with the drawers in. Especially on dressers that the drawer doesn’t lay flush to the dresser, where it actually overlaps.
Hey, I just got into FF, and I have a question! Im soo confused on what to do with the inside of the drawers. Like painting wise. Since the wood will resemble the outside, do i also spray paint the sides, before putting them into the dresser? Im not sure if that makes sense haha
👍🏼
Do you take the drawers out and also spray the inside of the dresser or just use a brush?
I have the worse time spraying the top of the dresser, I always get texture yet spraying the rest of the dresser is Never an issue. I can’t figure out why 😩
I'm sorry for asking but i don't know if i saw you add polyurethane on this piece? Idk if i missed it or if it was already in the last paint spray. Or is it enough with just the paint? Thank you
Paint that isn’t dry is hazardous waste where I live. Is it realy ok to clean it out like you did on the ground?
Do your clients question your prices after seeing the video you make in making their piece of furniture? You put so much time and work into your pieces, I understand your pricing. But do they?
What sprayer is that? It’s not below . Can it paint walls too?
Where did you get your stool?
Just curious why you clean before you sand, only to clean again after sanding?
1st clean: dirt & grime, less grime /less sandpaper. Also gives you opportunity to really evaluate the piece. 2nd clean: sanding dust.
