Jags fan here...Loved when we had him...knew he would become exactly what he is right now...a Super Quality Backup at worst and a limited but Good Starter at best once he got more playing time and experience.

I don't think it's clear that he beats out Aidan O'Connell as the Raiders starter.
Aiden started playing pretty well down the stretch. He just needs to get rid of the ball quicker and work on his pocket awareness.
I think it is. All I remember is the Raiders Chiefs game where he didn’t complete a pass in the 2nd half and had 60 yards for the whole game…

he played better as the year went on. Both QBs need to be better than what they've shown in order for the Raiders to have success. O'Connell's experience last year will help. And I hear he came into camp in much better shape. The Raiders' QB room isn't great, ok, which is all the more reason not to write off O'Connell.

I'm a big Minhew fan. I love the underdog. I know a lot about his game. Simms is a very good analyst but he does stress traits and potential over production. The Colts were 1 of the most consistent scoring teams in the NFL last year and they had 1 of the worst receiving groups in the NFL. Their Defense also gave up the most points in the entire AFC. He was also running an offense built for a running qb. Minshew is a play action qb. He can run the rpo but he thrives in play action. All the wr's he had in Jacksonville )and none were good) had their best years with Minshew at QB. Last year Josh Downs set the Colts rookie record for most receptions. Pittman had his best year under Minshew. He knows how to play the position as well as anyone. He's just limited with arm strength. His deep ball is very good and he owns the back shoulder. His drive throws just lack velocity. He is also a very fast learner. The Jags coaches could not understand how he was able to pickup the offense so fast. Very very smart guy and he knows how to bring what he leans out to the field. He's found a lot of ways to work around his limitations. With that said you can't expect any qb to come in and just start thriving right off the bat and make a decision after a few games. It took Rogers and Adams years to build their chemistry. Of course we don't have that time now but he will do well if he has some protection and they build the offense around him. If you can get open he will throw you the ball. I hope this helps.

Meanwhile, Minshew has almost identical stats to Trevor Lawrence and Aiden was the second best rookie QB last year and finished out by going 3-1 against the AFC West and had 9 td’s and 1 INT over the last 5 games. If he would have been a 1st rounder no one would be talking this shit!
I’ll bet you a steak dinner 2/3 ‘s of the rookie qbs in this years draft don’t have Aiden’s season.
The Raiders qb room isn’t even the worst in their division. That prize belongs to the Donkos who over drafted Nix by about 4 rounds.

AOC will have his shot at losing his spot. AP said he's IN the stadium and doing his due diligence which hopefully he shines. If not Gardner can easily put points on the board while our defense destroys the QBs. I see us winning 10 games this year.

Simms is one of the worst QB's to ever play.
In 5 seasons he had a 7 - 9 record with 12 Touchdowns and 18 Picks.
That doesn't mean he can't break other QBs down which he is good at.....Statistics are always speculative to the players and coaching around you....
Zack Wilson had awful offensive coaching and shit talent around him....Jalen Hurts has studs around him
Far from successful, but also far from one of the worst. Peterman, Fromm, Glennon, Chris Streveler, Andrew Walter, DeShone Kizer, etc. are the kind of QBs where teams could not run an offense with because they were so bad.

Neither guy is franchise, there is no reason to not give both a good part of a game in preseason and decide who plays little the last game. Regardless you are not 500 after 6 games, no excuses of schedule of victim of circumstance, you try the other guy and maybe finish around 500 and have a starter at the end of the season. Otherwise, it is a tank year and you draft another QB, the whole package is probably 20-25 QB stats this year, O'Connell has the greater upside with a lot fewer starts.
Chris sounds like "sour grapes" because he was no where near as good as his father, a pedestrian/game manager QB. Chris also did not watch OTA's. Aidan O'Connell is clearly the starting QB. Minshew is the backup, change of pace QB, like a gadget QB you know like Lamar Jackson. Mishew is too small to be a starter and his throwing motion is not conventional. O'Connell was much smoother in OTA's. Aidan has to progress though. The draft was all about him. The Raiders gave him a nasty center/guard who is just a plain old mauler. They also got him arguably the best player in the draft, certainly a better athlete than all the overrated QB's and their broken knees, shoulders, and bicep bubbles. Really the Raiders offense and success or lack there of comes down to the system they put in place. The system must revolve around double te sets and other creative ways to invent mismatches. All that has to be sorted out and the Raiders are a longggg way off from being even a marginal team. Last year they had a cupcake schedule playing USFL quality QB's. As of right now though, O'Connell is clearly the starter. I like Minshew but he is what he is, Aidan just has the best arm on the team.

carr is way better then both my raiders qbs carr is anywhere from 12th to 18th in the leauge. minchew is mid 20s ranked qb in the leauge

@@Doors067 Who's the Raiders' QB? Minshew, who's 39th out of 40, or Aidan O'Connell, who's not even in the top 40. There are 32 teams in the NFL, which means both Raiders' QBs are worse than the worst starters. Which is why the Raiders are my pick to finish last in the AFC.
Dumb logic in my opinion. Raiders went 8-9, and 4-2 in the conference. Since then, they have gotten a whole lot better. AOC last four games 8TD/0INT. Add his experience dealing with a chaotic season, and logic would tell you that they are more likely to take a step forward.

But I think Nix will be better than Minshew or that other guy you drafted in the 4th last year. Hence my pick for last in the AFC = Raiders.
