  • The full process of replacing the engine on a 40 EZ PowerTow aircraft tug. The engine used was a lawn mower engine so the process includes dealing with the blade brake and power turn-off system.

A quick note for future watchers... one challenge I faced was that the fuel bowl on this engine struggled to contain the fuel. The problem was the slight tilt while the tug was parked - over time the fuel would all drain out.
I tried a few things, from parking it on a 2x4 (which worked) to finally sealing the rim of the fuel bowl (on the carb) with some gasket seal. That seemed to do the trick.

You should buy a Best Tug. You'd never have to worry about engine replacement plus free upgrades on Best Tugs and a service team un parralelled

I did! Told the story here: studio.czcams.com/users/videoVeuK5hUv_n8/edit And I found a happy good home for the EZ Tow. Everyone is happy now! :-)

Thank you. What was the part number of the original or replacement engine? Shaft length? Diameter? Thx!

I don't know, just measured what came out and compared it to what went in. They used different engines over time, from what I've seen, so you're best off finding out what you have before buying anything.

Nice job. My 20 year old briggs engine is starting to leak and it may be easier to do what you did than to fix the leak! Have you ever done the tire replacement?

No, the tire has been just fine for me. Hopefully someone else can help you!
