Lyra was soooooooooo cute in this video. I laughed so hard at her commentary throughout. She cracks me up. You did such a great job on her haircuts. Saskia does these bowl cuts to pigs that make me laugh, but you make Lyra look like she's been to the salon. I love her both ways. Of course, it has to be so much more comfortable after the haircut. :-) Willow is probably giggling back in the house, saying, haha, I don't have to cut my hair!

@@SqueakDreams I noticed when Lyra was running around after her hair was cut, she looked like she felt special. The way her lil feet were going, like she was just floating on air! Enough for her to steal Willow's cuke later!

I have a Texel, and think the long-haired piggies are such fun. She looks like a bunch of totally different piggies as her hair grows back in after cuts.

One of my Texel girls sits beautifully still, and the other is a true nightmare! The slightest touch and she squeals and jumps and it's never changed. I usually end up just doing her haircut gradually over a few days so she doesn't get too stressed! Great video, I thought Lyra looked lovely after her trim, thanks for reminding me of another job I must do !! : )
Awh yeah Lyra can be quite jumpy! I find not picking up the hair to cut it and just letting it fall loose helps a lot! Thank you! 😁
@@SqueakDreams The naughty one squirts urine at me too!! It's very difficult if they get matted under the bottom end and they don't let you cut it away. I would really advise people with Texel guinea pigs to groom them every day as babies, it's really vital they get used to it, and sadly I failed to do so! It does depend on personality though, as I say I have another Texel who is as good as gold, and had the same care

Our Peruvian hated haircuts. She'd complain the entire time and would try to run. Someone had to hold her(gently) while another cut her fur. Such a sweetheart tho ;> Your piggy is adorable^^

Lyra was remarkably calm! When I had a sheltie, if we even made a single snip she'd turn to attack!
She was very well behaved, normally she's kicking out all over the place haha. Maybe she knew she was on camera 😲

@@SqueakDreams Sarah, I'm thinking of getting a few tunnels, the type I see in your cage, and maybe a couple of more hidey houses, before winter comes. They are CRAZY for them, both the snuggle sacks and the houses! I've never seen them so comfortable before, and they do have other fleece houses! Lol, I knew they would be a big hit!

How can I pet my piggie that I are skittish and I started pet them to early and I am scared that they don’t trust me anymore what should I do?
Don't worry too much about it! New guinea pigs are always a little bit nervous and skittish, but they'll warm up to you :) If your guinea pig is not comfortable, don't chase them around the cage. You can start by gently touching their nose (if they let you) when giving them veggies, and, once they are used to that, begin to pat their head. Always make sure they know your hand is there and try not to take them by surprise, since sometimes their flight instinct just takes over and they will run to their hideys. Don't be discouraged! Even though some piggies may be harder to tame, they all have amazing personalities that will shine through!

My guinea pig has soooooo much hair, we try to cut it as often as it needs to be cut, but I grows so fast!
Are yes it does grow fast! Another reason to keep it trim around their bottom too 😊
Squeak Dreams yes definitely! I don’t have fleece, so the bedding (I use hemp bedding, it’s really good!) always gets stuck to my woody! Rex is ok, but it still gets a bit stuck.😂.
Also I’m getting a 4x2 or 5x2 c and c cage very soon! I can’t wait to give them a bigger home😇

My long-haired guinea pig is very shy, and she will claw the heck out of you when you pick her up! , i’m also pretty sure she’s pregnant. It’ll be a miracle if she would ever stay still for a second. She kicks and squeals whenever her fur is brushed, any tips?
Does anyone have any tips to bond with my guinea pig? I've had her for 5months now and she's still afraid of me. I tried food and treats, but when I hold her I can see she's not confortable, plus when I walk around her cage she inmediately runs into her little house. :(
I plan on having some updated videos on just this 😊 firstly maybe consider getting her a friend, then work on hand feeding and petting in the cage. When you have her out for laptime make sure she has a blanket to feel safe in, a little bit of shelter can help make them feel a lot more safe and secure 😊

Quiet, cordless dog clippers are so much better than all this slow snipping with extremely sharp scissors. I can't understand why people keep recommending doing it like this? I have a longhaired little sweetie and a quick zoom all over and she's done, safely and in just a few minutes. They cannot be bettered.

How old are they? If the hair looks smooth and short then they may get it a little long if they are crossbreeds, but are most likely to be short-haired. If they have tufty bits or kind of wavy patterns then they might grow long hair - though its usually already getting long by the time they are sold/adopted :)
How do you cut Swiss guinea pigs without making them look they been attacked with shears? I keep the bottom trim but don't want to ruin their beautiful pouffe ball look? X
Do they need the top trimming too? Maybe to help keep them cool in hot weather, you could try just cutting short bits here and there to gradually take some length out. Oh or maybe thinning scissors could work 🤔☺️

my peru guinea pig aaaaalllwaaays pees while i cut the hair and then runs into the hair pee combo -.-^^
PLEASE remember not to trim the whiskers. These are so important for guinea pigs to navigate in and out of tunnels etc. My guinea pigs now look so much cooler without their excess hair.....thank you Sarah
