Tucker. Best stick spinner of all time
I was 13 at the time and recall recording TOTP with a microphone from my ITT cassette recorder and repeatedly asking my family to shut up as they were spoiling it!
When we were teenagers, me and my friends ran a youth club, including a disco on saturday nights. The opening act was Blockuster. We would put speakers at the windows and door, crank the volume all the way up, and play Blockbuster few times in the row. Since the club was on a small hill, the sound of the siren could be heard several kilometers around. That was a sign that the club was open and people would start coming.
Eh, those were the days…
Sweet, the best Glam Rock band without doubt or argument 🥰
Hard rock ,not Glam
@@juliereminiec4937 Hard Rock/Glam adjacent lol :)
Glam rock at its best. Brian just looks STUNNING, his Blonde hair and those outfits are FABULOUS. RIP Brian, hope you're rocking with the Angels.
I bet he had no idea every Karen from the 1990s onwards would fashion their hairstyles after him.
So does Steve! ❤️
Gold was his best outfit
RIP Brian Connolly, Mick Tucker and now Steve Priest
I want a ticket to their concert in heaven
@@andymatthews7617 👍👍👍
Steve Priest just cracks me up, little camp waves at the camera, classic!
And he wasn't even Gay!
@@jlw184 The definitive glam classic IMO.
could never stand him ... always overacting.
Priesty was the man, super talented, charismatic as hell, and one half of probably the most unsung and underrated of all the truly great Rock and Roll rhythm sections.
But wearing a swastika on his arm. Seriously disturbed.
I never was into Sweet until my brother passed last may I inherited his albums I was born in 68 but now nobody better than Sweet
The best 1970’s glam rock group ever !
We can honestly say they don't make em like that anymore, absolutely brilliant!
RIP Steve Priest.
Steve Priest's bit to camera is totally iconic
Does the Vocal Siren sound remind you of Doctor Who?
@@juliereminiec4937 no shut up.
@@juliereminiec4937 Not as much as Brian's Jo Grant hairstyle!
@@aw-h3875.. or Jo's Brian hairstyle...!
I can't believe I watched this 45 years ago. I may look older, but I feel no different.
The SOUL dont age
There's no other band like Sweet 🥰
These 4 fantastic guys were the best 👍
I still love them 💕
@@BP-rn3nl
Queen is a fantastic band too! I love also Queen-Music.
But Sweet is my favorite band 🥰
🎶❤🎶
Andy Scott❤
R.i.p
Steve Priest❤
Brian Connolly ❤
Mick Tucker❤
😢🕯❤
Still watching this in 2022🙂 I grew up with Sweet
So glad to be around this era todays artists are so talentless..
This is a complete and utter banger.
This is why every school boy wants to be a pop star. Yeah.!! Tiger !!
Taggarts half brother, both brilliant guys bless them both.
They have certainly left big cultural legacies: Mark McManus was a sensational actor, and Brian Connolly one of the greatest frontmen in rock history. Both had battles with alcohol, and both died way too young, but their brilliance is undimmed.
Steve always looked like having so much fun... Sweet forever... ☆
RIP Steve :-(
I was lucky enough as lad to be in the audience when Crackerjack was filmed at the BBC Studio on Shepherds Bush Green. I couldn’t believe it when they announced at the beginning of the recording that Sweet were going to be on singing Blockbuster!
When the blue police light started flashing and the siren started on stage I was mesmerised, and the 11 year old me was a fan for life. Went and bought Desolation Boulevard with my paper round money and now in my 58th year I still love the lads. Just so sad we’ve lost 3 of them now. Great music and a great band. RIP Brian, Mick & Steve🕯
Love Andy with his spare leg that's hilarious , steve finds it funny !😂
Andy is adorable.
Steve Priest was too cool! Another lost legend
i love that bassist
Steve Priest RIP
This is music 1970s style, loud, great and just fabulously glam !
Sweet Es gab in den 70-ern viele gute Band's , für mich waren sie immer die Nr. 1!!! Schade um den Frontman. Kann ich bis heute noch nicht versteh'n.
Happy days
Such a killer voice!
I had a big rescue dog mastiff, Ridgeback cross,he was called,Buster ,and everytime I played this song ,he heard blockBUSTER,and he used to wag his tail so much ,I miss him , another unrelated story I've got a dog called treacle, and when that song "dreamer nothing but a dreamer " he thinks they're singing "treacle nothing but a treacle" that's how daft my dog is .god knows what's that to do with anything but I love ,The Sweet.
These were the days. A well-deserved No.1.
So sad to hear of Steve Priest's passing today, great Bass player and showman, Rest Easy Steve.
These days ,audiëntie would go out ther heads
fantastic
they really had the look, the beat; and the sound !
Yessss! 👍
Sweet were the best when I was 10yo, at 58 yo they are fantastic. RIP Steve
When I show these clips to my Grandkids they laugh, they think we were all crazy 🤪 back in the day, but what days we had, never see the likes again. 👍 🤯🤯🤯✌✌✌
es waren die besten ever heute noch Set ne Free, das Metall Stück überhaupt
The Sweet were a brilliant band to grow up with in the early 70's. They had so many hits that have never dated & were standard fairground music at the time too. My favorite was 'Teenage Rampage' with 'Blockbuster' a close second. I was too young to see them in concert but on Top of the Pops they were a regular glam/punk fix of energy to keep me happy in my early teenage years.
RIP Steve Priest. Thank you for the music &, for a straight man, pushing the boundaries of what's acceptable on the telly in just a wink of your eye!
My favourite was ballroom blitz
@@colinbrown2907 It was Wig Wam Bam for me - but ALL their Chinn/Chapman songs had appeal, as did their heavier stuff when they started writing their own songs. I can't think of a single poor song I've heard by them.
This video of Block Buster made me laugh out loud. Andy and Steve were hilarious ❤️🇺🇸
Brian Connolly was born to wear that outfit, omg, just a stunningly gorgeous man. I dream of young guys looking like this, but it won't happen again in my lifetime, I'm sure... 😔 At least we have the time machine known as CZcams!
its funny and you welcome
and everyone goes crazyy! 1973 wow!
He was adorable.
Legend, But Steve for me all day
Yes, Brian forever!!!
Best frontman ever 👌
Listening to all their songs in rotation. So much better than what we've got now.
The most beautiful straight men in the world in one room. Bless them all❤️
My friends Mom slept with Brian on her 18th birthday and couldn't be more proud of it. She tried to before, but he told her he wouldn't until she was 18. So she saved up the money, took the train up to Liverpool by herself, and showed him her ID. She would tell that story with pride on New Years. The 70's were a very different time back then.
Jason Mckenzie that’s Steve priest, the only straight man who could put camp David Bowie on stage.
Back in the 70s, I didn't know exactly what they looked like but even as a pre-teen, I knew they sounded good! The auditory before the visual!
Einfach geiiiiiiiil, das waren Zeiten, nur gute Musik
Such a great sound ! This record always reminds me of the fairground, the Waltzer ride would last the duration of this record and was played all day long 👍🏻
Brian was the best of the best and so gorgeous.
RIP Steve Priest.....All of Sweet total legends. No-one will ever produce songs like that again.
We want Steve!
I LOVE THIS STUFF! ICH LIEBE DIESE ART! Yes!
I love the looks and the charisma of Steve Priest R.I.P.
Steve Priest had WAY too much fun with this appearance. :)
Well that's Steve for ya. xD
He really enjoyed himself
Back again listening to the greatest glam band ever, just FAB !
I allways loved Steve Priest's camp bits..especially when he messes up the line..which they wisely kept on the record..brilliant!!
loved sweets music ❣
Oh holy f**k Steve Priest 🤩❤ He melts my butter 😱
Fabulous 💖
That 's great ever!!! Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!!!!!!!
Steve's expressions are unique. What a spectacular and charismatic guy!
Rip Steve :(
Absolutely! As were they all. Shame about Brian, definitely gone too soon. That drummer was bloody ace too!
I am obsesses with this band. Listen to them every day. Lived in Germany when they were filming these tv shows but I was too young. My parents wouldn't let me go. Wish I could have seen them live. Best band EVER!
I think this to the best track of the early 70,s, ain,t been anything like it before or since, I'm thankful I was around at the time.
FABBY JUST LUV THIS GLAM ROCK ICONS FOREVER.
RIP Steve Priest, a colourful character, gonna be missed but not forgotten.
einer der besten bands aller zeiten.da können die nachtwächter von heute schon lange nicht mehr mithalten.
Top rock n rollers....up there with the best.......
Steve cracks me totally up! I miss this kind of droll fun-poking in music. Glam was really a fun period!
Remember this like it was yesterday thank god for CZcams showing all these great songs from my teenage era the sweet were quite simply a different class
R.I.P. Steve! I'm so sad tonight!
Brilliant
R.I.P. Steve! :-(
Love this performance!! Ok, with the outfits.... between his hair, jewelry, shoes and jumpsuit, Brian just looks like he was dipped in gold. And it's amazing!! 😁 Steve.....just looks like he's messing with the viewer wearing the helmet, swastikas, make-up and the weird wave at the camera he kept doing, lol. And Mick and Andy are on point as usual, love their outfits as well!! I definitely missed out on this era not being born till '85 🙄 But so thankful these guys left a ton of material behind....it shows they worked hard on all they did for their fans. 😁 RIP Brian and Mick.....
Isn't it, such a joy?
They were brilliant 👏, the music was amazing and the dressing up was a proper piss take, thank God we where there to see them live. If they were here today and tried to get on dress,t like that they'd be pillared by the Woke num sculls and band from performing incase it upset someone.
@@richardyoung7415Yeah - note Steve's pixelated arm...
Brilliant listening to this takes me back to better days
Я от вас без ума ,вы очень круты ,моя любовь к вам безгранична !.
They were brilliant, no one compares ♥️🇦🇺
Just heard the news that Steve passed away yesterday at 74 years of age. Although Sweet wasn't my favourite band of the early 70s, they were different and brought a certain amount of amusement to their performances. Yes, Steve, a great guy and bassist - sorely missed - RIP.
I didnt know he had died. Slade was my band in the 70s but, I did like Sweet too. He was married but, everyone thought he was gay lol. He played along with it.
he was 72, born in 1948, a lot of respect to him & his family. Bless him he really shone like no other, truly unique.
They seemed like they were fun to hang out with and would be the band no matter where they were in their career, they would be kind to fans and humble.
@HEY 4Q2 Wow yeah, all great Artists. Gary Glitter was a brilliant performer, although, I wouldn't have wanted to be in his gang back then .
absolutely brilliant 👌
Hoffen daß dieser Song das momentane Blockbuster immer überdauert,,,,
Corona ist das negative Blockbuster 😑
I'm 17 and I think will forever envy the teenagers who grew up in the 70s.
Rip Brian connoly 1945-1997
Totally tongue-in-cheek campness, not taking themselves even remotely seriously. Wonderful. One of my first ever single purchases, this was.
all my memories as a child come true
RIP Steve. :(
RIP Steve....GLAM ICON!
This is one of my faves and they all look like they’re having fun together. Laughing at each other with their crazy outfits. Love it 🥰
This is what a rock n' roll band should be.
The ultimate glam rock group ever ⭐️- just fabulously great 🕺❤️
R.I.P. Brian Connolly. Still listening in 2020!
simply the best
1970s best decade ever,60s not too far behind.
I was so happy back then 🙌🏻✊🏻✊🏻✊🏻
Lucky enough to be a teenager in the 70's, the greatest decade every for music and life. How I miss it.
And the 60's!
krisscross44 yes me too great days.
You are not the only one Believe me
Krisscross44, you are too right regarding the 70's music era. Superb!
Ahhhhhhhhhhh brian steve and andy all freaked me out 😲
RIP Steve Thanks for the wonderful music
The greatest song of the 19 70s
Remember it well ,,,,,brilliant
I'm so glad I was brought up in the 70's
I was an adult in the 70s, turned 20 Oct 1972. Danced to all these in the discos. Fab times, great memories.
Me to. Started in 69 on till 76 great times 2 of the club where I live had 1 on a Monday night and the other one on Friday night, we started the week with a bang and ended it with a bang 👍 and in the middle carried on the same, smiles all around.😁😎😎😎🤯✌✌✌🏴🏴🏴
GREAT days GREAT band sadly missed 😥😥
Steve Priest & The Sweet 4ever!
I performed this with my mates at school xmas party aged 7 in 1973. I was forever known as “buster” a nickname that continues today
