      It’s so dependent on height, weight, and lifestyle also if you’re not done growing you should eat more and not always, but usually males require more energy than females. However I would just say in my experience it’s probably best to steer clear of calorie counting and eat 2-4 balanced meals every day and plan a few balanced filling snacks… Counting calories is just such an arbitrary way of measuring how much you should eat, since our energy needs vary a lot on a given day and it’s actually crazy, but our bodies use different calories differently so there are some foods that some people might not even absorb the calories in and there have even been some studies that indicate that some people might not even absorb the calories in alcohol… That was a really long way of me saying to prioritize listening to your body!! And of course I’m not denying that calories in, calories out is true. If you eat less calories you’ll lose weight, if you eat more, you’ll gain weight, but our needs fluctuate, different people may metabolize different foods differently and calories on labels especially at restaurants aren’t always accurate… Anyways, I know this was super long, but I suspect you’re asking this question for yourself and I was just thinking of everything I wish I knew when I was that age because that’s when I developed my eating disorder and it has been five years since then, I’ve come a very long way, but I still struggle and I just wish I never got into calorie counting in the first place. I think it’s good to know what the calories are in some foods, but not to add all of them up every single day. There’s a podcast I highly recommend and one episode on calories in particular that I think is really fascinating and relevant to this whole little rant I’ve been on. The podcast is called the maintenance phase and the episode is called “the trouble with calories”

    IDK how many dieticians recommend starbucks for at least a quarter of your daily caloric intake. Not to mention if you are trying to lose weight, maybe a third. Intuitive eating IS NOT something to recommend to an obese patient. I am down at least 40 pounds since May, and if I "intuitively ate" since May, I'd probably still be 225. When people think of intuitive eating, they think eat what my brain says to eat, NOT eat what my body needs for nourishment!

      Why so angry and aggressive though over such a small thing? 🤯 Almost like you know something about Abby's degree history. Did she almost flunk out of a pseudo science degree- Dietology😁?
      But just because someone has a degree or a diploma doesn't necessarily mean they know what they are talking about. • @jjdoe9707
      @jjdoe9707 Před rokem +3

      @@peaches__ Yes, cooking is a way of processing food, but as far as the term "processed food" is concerned, it generally describes food that has been processed in a factory setting to one degree or another. For example, you can find RAW chicken in the store and the label will say "minimally processed." Obviously, raw chicken hasn't been cooked, but otherwise handled (for example washed in bleach. Yes, that is a real thing) at a factory.
      So as much as you try to sound witty, check the labels and the various meanings of the term "processed " before embarrassing yourself in a public forum.

    How does this help if we can’t copy any of it?
    I’m confused?

    • @_.-_
      @_.-_ Před 2 lety +2

      I think she means don't copy the video itself to another site. There is a lot of content stealing that goes on.
      Or also she's also talked before I think about people using 'what I eat in a day' videos as a gospel and deciding to do exactly that, and while it's totally fine and good to take inspiration or meal ideas from those videos, it's important to remember that you and the creator aren't the same person and you don't know their exact dietary needs and how well they may or may not match up with yours. So the point is that, while it certainly is not easier than just deciding to eat the same things they eat in a day, it's *better* for you and your individual needs to maybe take some individual meal ideas and incorporate those (or even modified versions of them, if necessary!) into a meal plan that you have tailored to your own needs (ie. maybe not exact numbers or percentages if that isn't your thing or is triggering, but a general idea of how much food you should be eating to meet your health goals, and how much of what *types* of food, like produce/proteins/carbs/fats, and possibly, if that is something you need to keep a closer eye on, certain foods that may be rich in certain vitamins/minerals like iron.)
      If it's accessible to you, a dietician can really help with figuring out what is right for you, but I know not everybody has the recources. And if it's all just too overwhelming and too much to deal with on your own, that's okay, you can always just start with the general recommended guidelines for someone of your sex and stature, and hopefully maybe once you feel more comfortable with that, you can do a little more research in one area and take another step toward refining your diet for you, and then another, and another, and eventually you'll get to a place where you feel pretty confident you're getting what you need to meet your health goals.
