The white gloves are not to prevent fingerprints it's for handling the florescent "blade" because the oils from your hands will reduce the longevity of the saber...
if you have incandescent or florescent lighting in your kitchen (long tubes) and one of them burns out and you have to replace it, on the box of the new one the instructions say not to handle the light part with your bare hands for that reason.
