      Hey AlphaOmegaSin Im gonna be going off topic here, do you think Bloodborne is just a Nightmare Creatures reboot that never came to be? Seeing as you are big on horror games, I'd like to see your opinion on the "rehashed"(even though unintentional by the devs) setting and gameplay that actually already existed 16 years ago. What if someone decided to pull Nightmare Creatures out the IP grave and give it a reboot, will it be the one copying Bloodborne or is it still the original even though its quite underwhelmingly received when it comes to popularity?

      best thing about snatcher is that you play it with a control pad and a light gun both plugged in at the same time, cant really get that feel any other way but with the Sega CD system

    The games I own that I consider "Rare" don't worth a lot of money . However , I think they're because not a lot of copies were sold . The best seller barely got 600K copies . I'm talking about Mad World , Sin and Punishment , No More Heroes 1 & 2 and Metroid Prime : Trilogy . Except the last one , one can find these games for less than 20 USD . Even the trilogy has dropped in price since Nintendo released it digitally . I know the Wii , and Wii U , aren't the cool consoles to own , but these are great game , and it's a huge shame that not a lot of people got to experience them ...

    I think my rarest game would be Mega Man: The Wily Wars for the Sega Mega Drive. They only released this game here in Europe and it goes for 400-500 Euro (625 Dollar, round about) now. its absolutely crazy. I bought it back in 1993 if im not wrong and its still in almost mint shape. i really want a copy of earthbound too though! they never released earthbound here in europe :(

  • @Dongled
    @Dongled Před 10 lety +5

    Rare should not be defined by price, as the word rare has more to do with being scarce or hard to find. For example, Earthbound IS NOT rare. Anyone with a credit card and the expendable cash can pay $120+ loose or $400+ for the complete in box set. Earthbound is expensive. Not rare.

    • @capostatus937
      @capostatus937 Před 10 lety +2

      why do you think people will pay that much for an old snes game. Because it's not that easy to find.

    • @Mitcellie
      @Mitcellie Před 10 lety +1

      The reason its so pricey is because its not common. If super mario world was boxed with limited copies circulating, itd probably be $400+

    • @Fate2010c
      @Fate2010c Před 10 lety

      Rare games are often pricey because there are less in circulation compared to other games. Its easy to find any game online as long as at least 1 person in the country is selling it. If you look at a video game price chart, the cost problem has been made worse by people controlling the market. Game prices were relatively steady for hard to find games at about 60-100$ at most for game only. Since 2011/2012ish the price on everything has shot up by double or triple. The less common a game is the easier it is for assholes to buy and then resell games to shape the market in their favor.

    • @Carsonj13
      @Carsonj13 Před 10 lety +2

      Mitcellie Sales have a lot to do with it's "rarity" as well, and there are plenty of people who go on about how they saw "piles of Earthbound boxes" in their stores back in the day, and how they wished they had bought them so they could sell them online. Earthbound didn't sell well, so it's hard to find USED copies at random stores and/or online. There ARE a lot of "new" copies in existence, the game just sold significantly less than what NoA had hoped.

      @Silvergun_Raven Před 10 lety

    Probably the rarest games I own are the boxed, complete amiga games I own. Its difficult to determine the exact value of each game, but they seem to go from anywhere from 40-100 dollars. One game called Archon: the Light and the Dark I have been told is worth over 200 dollars but I have not been able to confirm this. I got all of them at a flea market last week for 5 bucks each.

    @NEzell-sj1yu Před 10 lety

    At one point I had a MASSIVE game collection, with a whole host of hard to find or just coveted games. Sadly I had to sell the entire collection about eight years ago to fund a move, but probably my RAREST item wasn't even a game itself, but a console.
    A lot of people forget that the Atari 7800 wasn't only released in 1987, but had a short run a couple of years before that, right on the tail of the 5200 and before Atari's big sell-out. There were only about 5000 consoles manufactured during that first run, with the rainbow logo the opposite direction from later ones and the expansion port fully intact.
    I managed to find one, not knowing what I had, at a yard sale for five bucks.
    As far as games? I've always collected because I wanted to play a game rather than collected for rarity itself, so I've made some pretty boneheaded deals in my day, like trading my original black label Final Fantasy VII for Riven and Masters of Tera Kassi on the PS1.
    ...Don't judge me.
    Frankly, I find the prices on retro games right now rather ridiculous. Yes, the hardware and cartridges/CDs are a lot rarer now than they ever were back in the day, but it's a really strange market where the contents of the cartridge is only a very small part of the item's actual value. Games like Earthbound are a perfect example of this: even the most die-hard fan of the series would have to admit the game itself isn't worth 800 dollars. If it were, Nintendo would be charging that on the VC. And it isn't even really the contents of the box, either: Infocom had far cooler boxes and contents back in the day, and you don't see their games going ridiculous like this. It's just... strange.
    I do wish I still had my vintage copy of FInal Fantasy now, though. That thing's overpriced too.

    I don't own these but some of the rarer games I know of are:
    Nintendo World Championships 1990 (NES)
    Was released as a grey plastic version (90 total) and a gold version (26 total). In 2005, a grey plastic version sold on eBay for over $6000.00. In 2009, a gold version sold for over $17,000.00.
    Nintendo Campus Challenge 1991 (NES)
    One copy sold on eBay in 2009 for over $20,000.00
    Air Raid (Atari 2600)
    The cartridge, alone, has sold for over $3,000.00. While the cartridge is rare, the box is extremely rare. Only one has come up for sale in a twenty-five year span. In 2010, the game with box sold for over $31,000.00.
    I don't have values for these but Atari 2600 games like Chase the Chuck Wagon and Tooth Protectors are also rare and, often, pricey.

    @MYCRAZYPRODUCTIONS Před 10 lety +1

    This is why I stopped collecting video games. When i first started collecting I could get a complete majors mask mint for $60 and now its like $150. Hell Clayfighters sculptors cut complete was only like $250 or $300 now you'd be lucky if you could find the cart for that game. Part of the charm of retro gaming is the fact we could get a bunch of awesome games for a decent price but now its cheaper for me to go to gamestop and get a stack of xbox 360 games then it is to collect for some of these systems. I'm hoping soon that things will get back to normal, but honestly it's getting to the point where I just feel like giving up on this hobby it's just way to expensive now a days.

    When GameStop was phasing out their used cartridge based games around 2003-2004, I bought every NES and SNES game I could afford, no matter what it was. The most I paid for NES games was around 10-12 bucks. I ended up with several HTF games including every Mega Man game for NES, Dragon Warrior IV and a ton of classic SNES titles. The real gem was Bonks Adventure for NES, and it wasn’t until maybe 10-12 years later that it was brought to my attention that it was worth a lot of money. Since I had no real sentimental attachment to it, I sold it to a kid on eBay and bought myself a Nintendo Switch and a few games for it, and it also paid a good amount towards my Yamaha LL 16. That was a good find that paid off well.

    My "rare" game for me would have to be Namco X Capcom for the Japanese PS2. It cost me 80 dollars when it came out new and it never came out in English. The game took me 108 hours to finish and I remember having 4 hour play sessions. I've played all the big games since the NES, but I feel that the experiences are the most valuable. A game is nice to look at and to own, but the memories and the feelings these games evoked are just priceless.

    Otherwise it would be *(cib) StarCraft 64 for N64 [PAL]* with an official limited print of 5000 copies worldwide.
    And lastly would probably be *(cib) Mega Man X3 for SNES [PAL]* also a quite limited run here especially to get it in my local language (German) but I have no official numbers for this :(
    Financialy I would list up also (all cib and at least 300€ each):
    • Mega Man 7 [PAL] for SNES
    • Mega Man X2 [PAL] for SNES
    • Chrono Trigger [NTSC] for SNES
    • Conker's Bad Fur Day [PAL] for N64
    • Mega Man IV [PAL] for GB
    • Mega Man V [PAL] for GB
    • Mega Man - The Wily Wars [PAL] for MegaDrive
    • Blackthorne [NTSC] for 32X
    • Panzer Dragoon Saga [PAL] for Saturn
    • Mega Man [NTSC] for GameGear
    • Rockman Collection [NTSC-J] for PS1
    • Harmful Park [NTSC-J] for PS1
    • Judgement Silversword - Rebirth Edition [NTSC-J] for WonderSwan
    • Rockman Battle & Fighters [NTSC-J] for NeoGeo Pocket Color

    I don't have rare games, but I do have fairly uncommon ones; nothing that's insanely expensive on eBay.
    Here are some of them:
    - Phantasy Star Online: Episode I & II Plus (GCN)
    - The Dark Spire (sealed, NDS)
    - Rhythm Thief & the Emperor's Treasure (sealed, 3DS)
    Others that may become uncommon and go up in price, as a result:
    - Pokemon Soul Silver with Pokewalker (NDS)
    - The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D (3DS)
    - Star Fox 64 3D (3DS)
    - The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition (GCN)
    - Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes (GCN)
    I also have both Lunar: SSSC and Lunar 2: EBC for the PSX, but prices have pretty much stayed the same since 7 years ago when I got SSSC (at least on eBay).

    I was raised on Sega and kept most of my games stuff my whole life. Only fairly recently did I really start going back into playing and adding to my old libraries and I was a bit stunned by the financial value this stuff has attained. Luckily I already had a vast majority of the really rare/sought after ones. Apparently I had good taste even in my in my youth because I already had like all the Working Designs games, Snatcher, Android Assault, Saturn Bomberman, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Guardian Heroes etc. At first I thought about selling it all of when I found out some of these prices on this stuff but I love these games to much to do that. These Sega memories to me are priceless and could never part with it.

    I have a list of video games that I have collected over the years (Certainly don't have as many games as you guys), but I will only list my PS1 library. Now I don't know if any of these are rare but here's my list of PS1 games:
    1-Armored Core
    2-Armored Core: Project Phantasma
    3-Armored Core: Master of Arena
    4-Final Fantasy Tactics
    5-Final Fantasy VII
    6-Parasite Eve
    7-Parasite Eve 2
    8-Space Griffon VF-9
    9-T.R.A.G. (AKA Hard Edge)
    10-Command and Conquer: Red Alert
    11-Command and Conquer: Red Alert Retaliation
    12-MGS (Second Disc doesn't work v_v)
    13-Soul Reaver: Legacy of Kain
    14-Odd World: Abe's Oddessy
    15-Diablo
    16-Syphon Filter 2
    17-Fear Effect
    18-Raiden Project (Contains both Raiden 1 & 2)
    19-Megaman 8
    20-Megaman Legends
    21-Megaman Legends 2
    22-Vandal Hearts
    That's about it. Again I have no idea if any of these are rare or valuable. It took a long time getting these games and I hope to continue to collect them.

    I'm having a hard time to pick one rare game I have. I collect for the saturn. I used to own one with my older brothers as a kid and loved it to death. One of the games I played to all the time was burning rangers. I knew everything on that game. Where all the civilians were, the cheats for playing as other characters and was able to beat the game untouched. Sadly my brothers sold the Saturn and all the games on it for an n64 and star wars episode 1 racers! >.< (Hated racing games at that time) Recently I managed to get another complete copy of it from my fiance last Christmas. This would be my personal rare game memory wise. The other one is a game I also love almost as much as burning rangers but I would put it much rarer monetarily. Panzer dragoon saga. I love the story the gameplay and characters. It's a really unique game like burning rangers. So, just wanted to post about my rare(s). Hope you enjoyed the read. If not, then down vote, of so then up vote for me! :)

      Before you all say ''YOU'RE LYING!''
      I got these when i went to the US a few years ago, and i was lucky, so i begged to get them because i was a Sega fan, but never heard of the Sega CD, so we kind of got one. but we had to wait in order to get these to work.
      Policenauts on 3DO, how i got it is this, I wanted to get in to Konami's games, so I looked around for a game that isn't Metal Gear Soild, so I never got a 3DO for when I have found it, yes i got this from importing it.
      Lunar Silver Star Story and Sonic CD however, i just imported it from the US, but i was annoyed that i coulden't play it unless it was on a emulator.
      Panzer Dragoon Saga also, i bought it of a ICT Technician in my school right now, and still looking good. but i had to get a Reproduction Outer Box,(you can say this ''Oh, fuck you'' you have to right to), very sad day indeed.
      Sonic 3D Blast came all the way from Japan, and came just last month.

Complete NES Black Box set (These are the very first 30 games to come out here in the USA. They are the ones with the pixelated image on the black background. I'd say Donkey Kong JR. Math cib/mint could go as high as $2500 to a collector, the Stack-Up in the larger box with R.O.B. attachments could go for $1000+ as well. Not super rare, but as new collectors are coming onto the scene trying to get all 30 these are sure to become harder to locate.
