Its really is the core of a Government of any sort, that they hold the monopoly on legitimate violence, as well as holding the most power, militarily or through other means, thus being able to dictate laws and enforce them in the first place, which also includes the potential of "legitimate violence" existing in the first place.

I don't get it.
Michigan fan people are taught by their governing power that armed and violent protests are bad because you shouldn't use force to get what you want and should always pursue peaceful methods. Yet, that same governing body gives you a list of rules you're forced to follow under threat of violence and/or incarceration, like it's a normal thing. Therefor, said governing power has taken authority over what is legitimate use of violence and what isn't. A country is essentially a big gang.

In Italy and Switzerland armies were mostly mercenary companies, so while still not obligated it's a different dynamic.

You are talking about the interpretation of the validity of political violence as seen by libertarians, not that that is the accepted principle. My bad. I am just going to add, though, you may had caught my comment from before that I did study PoliSci and even took a class on political violence.
Interestingly enough, we never studied the ZAP, or perhaps, I don’t recall. To be honest, we studied it from a lot of different “realist” and “liberal” perspectives. (In quotes because I can’t recall every single different name of every theory. There are too many.)

It's the mainstream view of political science that in a functioning society someone has a monopoly on legitimate violence, though not necessarily or favorably a monarch.

I don't think Hobbes and Weber have been born in that universe yet, maybe wait a few more years for the basis of political theory and the state to be developed
