People complain of cost of living in Canada forgetting UK is even more expensive. All boils down to where makes you comfortable irrespective of the pay. As for me I go for the big bag 😅

nurses do not make £25 per hr in Uk.. you can only get that amount if you work for certain agencies but £25 is certainly not the average for nurses

Uk agency Nurses can earn from 5k pounds a month though and its very common. Uk Nurses get 6 weeks annual leave too.

I think your research is correct. I am a nurse in the UK and I get paid based on banding versus years of service. A bit disappointing, as you rightly said. You get stuck in a band, once you reach the top of your tier/ladder/gateway. The only way you change is if you develop yourself, however, there has to be opportunity for you to move forward or develop within your role.
Another area you could look at is - benefits comparison.

    • @IENelaine
      @IENelaine Před rokem

See RCN pay scale, also, I heard there are now plans in place for junior nurses to progress after a few years of service. This is dependent on a great team leader, who is not afraid of change and staff development.

      Hi Elaine!
I totally agree with you in that. And the workload is very difficult and stressful, definitely not worth the pay given at present time.
Yes that is true, I was thinking on the benefit aspect of it.

It’s crazy, I think that’s why we often get individual with poor management/ leadership skills in position like this due to nhs trying to find ways arroyos addressing pay. Instead will create new post for people to be band 6. As a result terrible ward manager and poor work conditions 😪

@@nursenyamouch The pay scale/wages you mentioned for the Canadian nurses are just for staff nurses. You spoke of different brands alluding to sisters and ward managers. In Canada, if fact in Ontario that I am familiar with managers and directors equivalent to sisters and matrons in the UK. Their salaries are negotiated and are most times on contract.

Just so you know there is a maximum amount of pay increases you can reach in Canada as well max at year 8 I believe . We sort of have "bands" too.
We get extra pay for working nights, weekends, extra time and stat holidays too. You can make much much more picking up shifts.

      Sorry for late response!
I love Canada, but also grew up there so I’m bias lol.
But each country definitely has its benefits and drawbacks.
So it depends on what you are looking for.
Canada has great salary ( better than uk ) but cost of living can be expensive
I’d definitely say, continue to do some research as to where you want to go and plan ahead for it.
