      It’s so true. Interns work like crazy and are expected to be in the hospital for 36 hours straight ! Even if you have done a night duty there is no excuse ! UK work regulations feels like luxury for Indians đŸ„ș

      yep I used to work 12 hrs eventhough I had to work just 8 hours in a private hospital because of the shortage of duty doctors ,I did not even get paid for extra hours!!!
      did not have holidays not even on sunday!! and I could take just 1 half day off in an entire year and I was already getting a frown from the consultant just for that
      eventhough I loved to work i felt frustrated and felt I was taken for granted

    Hey, thanks for all the information but can you cover the 1:4 or 1:11 rotas? I couldn't understand what they meant.
    I see usually 1:8 on call rota and I just saw a 1:29 full shift rota?

    While working as a junior dr., can I practice aesthetics during my days off?
    Like I am a good at aesthetics and currently are performing such procedures in my home country!
    It only takes 20 to 30 mins to perform a procedure and it is well payed.

      You'd need to be licensed to do so and would need to ensure you meet the UKVI requirements for a second job

      You are allowed breaks. Breaks are half an hour long. Many hospitals have jumuah prayer facilities but they do not require 2 hours of your time.

    Sorry, but I can’t fully understand
    If I finished my shifts in a nhs job which took me up to 48 hours per week , Did I have maximum up to 20 hours per week for work as locum as an img on visa tier 2 ??
    That’s mean total working hours per week 68 hours ( 48 hours as maximum hours for main job + 20 hours limit for visa tier 2 )

      The 20 hour limit is only if you locum in another hospital (not the one you're employed in).

      Yes but you need to pay to keep the registration valid and do yearly appraisals if you want the license to be valid as well.

      Not on a work visa as it states you can only do the work that is mentioned for the visa itself

    I have been doing a shift work as engineer, and must admit a 12hr shift pattern with 4days on, 6 days off, 4 nights on, 4 days off, 3day+3nights on & 4 days off and than restart again. This pattern gives good balance. This eight hour shift pattern is horrible.😼

    Many people say that night duty, on calls , weekends days have give more hourly wage... If my duty is 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday.. Then if my night shift is available on Tuesday or Wednesday from 8:00 PM to 7:00 AM.. So, on tuesday or wednesday I have to skip regular shift or i have to do both regular shift from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and after 3 hours from 8:00 pm we have to do night shift?
    Is this night shift give more hourly wage?

      You have a set rota pattern as shown in the video. You can't skip your contracted work.

    Question for work schedule for A&E. If your contract say 40 hours per week, but with this schedule in 1st week I can see shift is 9 hours long so per week it become 45 hours .. can we get paid extra for 5 hours which we will be above 40 hours..

      It all averages out to 48 hours a week and the pay is adjusted accordingly

      Not necessarily. It's down to ensuring you ask early enough and being cognizant of what others have asked for during that time. We've done it and others have as well.

      @@RoadToUK I really want to work in the UK once I complete my house officer job, work life balance is so much better and it's a much healthier option. Too much of toxicity in the way things are run over here. The self doubt and fear you have walking into work isn't going to benefit anyone.

    Only yesterday on the news I saw an NHS doctor say she finished her shift at 11pm and had to be back to work the next morning by 7am. There’s no 11 hour gap there between shifts.

      There are rules in place to report such incidents and exception report to ensure you stay compliant. We have used them many times to get hours and/or pay back. Failure to do so on part of an individual does not mean there is no recourse.
