This is the first generation of the 450 and the 300. GPX will continue to improve this bike like they did the two stroke TSE250R. They are very good at listening to customers and making changes to new models. For the everyday average trail rider In my opinion they can't be beat for value, I personally would never pay the stupid money they want for similar Euro bikes. But that's just me.
You do decent commentary 👏.. You should start recording more of the little rides and other bs you're up to (ie. Clips from the rides to work and daily interactions and such.) Good job man, keep up it up
I had 2003 WR450F for about 3 years, over 200 hours and nothing but sprockets, chains, and tires. Heavy though! Same for my YZ450F, over 250 hours in 5 years and went through 2 clutches but rock solid.

In all fainess Yamahas and Kawis are bullet proof!Not all of them need to be rebuilt often as an example A WR 250. You can't kill it. Plus valve adjustments every 25,000 miles. the wr has a street motor based on the R1. Hard to beat.

Looks like a lot of bike for the money. Since it's not a competition class bike it would be nice to see GPX offer a bit more dual-sport oriented features on it. You mentioned the new model having an aluminum subframe, so maybe racks will become available. I'd like to see them add rear footpegs. It would be nice to be able to carry my daughter or wife on mild trail or dirt roads sometimes. That's the only thing I miss about the DRZ400, the rest of the bike was crap for my needs. Hey m8 nice bike its basicly the same as my exc ktm 450 i like it. With the chain slider bolt stripped out i found that it is way more sturdy to just run a long bolt all the way from top to bottom with nut n washers i did it that way on my wr 426 cause it kept fuckin up cause they cop alot of vibrations. Alot of people fix it that way so u dnt have 2 worry about it again. I wish i bought 1 of these i didnt know they made this improved bike engine i thought they only had the earlier model the crossfire one they call em here down under in australia .i paid 4k 4 exc450 with fried piston wrings its got 14k odometer n 400hrs though.use good quality oils n this thing will go 4 ever i dnt doubt it.
@@hardtailfails Love it so far! Runs a little lean at an idle, causing the header pipe to glow at night. Hopefully that goes away as the EFI “learns”. If not, when it’s out of warranty I’ll install a programmer. Seems good on the highway too, but I wonder if there is a better combo of rear or front sprocket to get the best on and off road compromise. Also Gary, the owner of GPX has been great to work with.
@@hardtailfails Love it so far! Install the baffle in the exhaust that's included in the cardboard box to keep it from flaming out due to not enough back pressure. Drill the holes in the baffle out larger before installing. I'm up to 200 miles so far, with no problems.
I just broke down and bought a SSR300S for trail duty. I gotta say, it's built like a tank, uses a lot of CRF parts, and the little MFer is fast lol. Son took out of the CRF250X with me and the SSR is all over it. Love the bike, stupid value.

thank you for doing a video. im very interested in this bike. just curious how different the power is to my WR250R i would love to be able to ride one to feel. I love my WR but u have to rev the snaaat out of it to get it alive which is ok. Im looking for something that will lift the front end without clutch in 1st or 2nd and even 3rd but i dont know if this will do it. i ridden plenty of DRZ400 that are ok but im hoping it has more than that but IDK. I ride my friends CRF450r and its crazy and i know the GPX is not like that but is it somewher close? whats ur opinion on that.

Does this bike have enough Hp to power wheelie? I had a street plated WR450 that would do it in the first 4 gears. It was a beast & was a blast to ride. A little too heavy on the single track though, so I swapped for a 300 2T. @Wright Cycleworks, have you tried the GPX 2 stroke bike yet, or know any riders in WV that have? I'd like to hear how they do in the mountains.
It definitely has enough power to wheelie. I do it regularly haha. I haven't got to try the two stroke yet. As far as I know, I'm the only one in WV with a full size GPX.

Hey man, I’ve been eyeing one of these for a few weeks now. I’m a bigger guy, 6’1” 270ish. Past bikes were kdx220 and an old xr650 air cooled. Really wanting an EFI bike cuz we’re planning on moving up north. Just want to know how the suspension would handle my weight. I’m more of a conservative rider, just want something to get back and fourth to the shop and take in trails. Just wanted to get your opinion
Hey man, thanks for the comment. I would stay away from GPX personally. I'm going to post up a video explaining my experience with both the bike and GPX's customer service. Being 279, the stock suspension will be entirely too soft. It's one of the softest stock setups I've ever seen, so you would definitely need springs and valving done. If it were me, I'd try and find a used Japanese or Euro 450.
On the 21' and older bikes, you'll want to order one for a Husqvarna. I'm not sure on the 21.5' and up bikes, as they switch d to a KTM style tank. It may need a KTM style seat as well.
@matty d Gary at GPX got a Seat Concepts seat in stock for the 2021.5 FSE4540, and it was ordered for a 2018 KTM 450SX. I purchased it from him at $169 shipped and I'll let you know how well it fits when I get time to install it.

Agreed, I'd love a t7 also. I went way cheaper and got the Orion rxb250 and spent about 1k to get it where it's usable as a trail bike. 3k all in and there's a little buyer remorse. Thinking about pulling the trigger on the gpx for next spring. Let me know if your selling it this winter.
I ride with the usual suspects, KTM, Husky, Beta and an assortment of Japanese bikes... We have punishing terrain here in New England and I'm the only on a Chinese bike. At this point I'm pretty sure my GTX FSE-R has gained their respect. I had some problems at when I first got it and I just got it back up and running after being sidelined for a month over a loose wire in a connector going from the ECU to the coil 😡 But all in all its had no more issues than any of these bikes that get thrashed on around here, the key is to keep up on maintenance and keep an eye\ear out for problems.
I'm looking for a purely street super moto and I was going to convert a 450 MX bike but alot of the ones I find for less then 3000 are trashed no maintained correctly also getting a title is another issue do you think this would make a good supermoto
Trust me get a name brand bike they feel better have more power and almost never break I have had my 2006 Yamaha yz85 never had to put any parts on it and same with my 1998 Suzuki rm 125

Chassis wise, they are fine. Some guys have the earlier 250's with that many miles with no major issues. This engine is used on alot of different bikes and no problems with over 5k miles. I'd venture to say it will last that long with routine maintenance.
My buddys Husky has 11,000 miles on the clock and the main bolt the holds the front end on the bike has remained tight. Its that sort of thing that concernes me about these Chinese bikes. Personally i think you can find a used low hour Husky TE 449 for less money. Its a better bike!

It is a Seat Concepts seat for a 2017 Husqvarna. It's just the foam and cover, which I stapled to the stock GPX seat base. Mines a 2021 so it's the Husky style base. You would need the KTM style foam and cover, since the 2021.5 uses the KTM style base.
The SSR is a good bike, but this GPX is better. More power, 6 speed wide ratio trans, lighter, and better suspension. Also alot better customer service and parts dealing.
Seems like most of your problems have to do with whoever assembled it didn’t use loctite. Kind of concerning. Good to know. I’d buy a crate bike and assemble it myself probably.
Bike was assembled with loctite on all important pieces when assembled. This was the 3rd 450 ever in the US, and it definitely had teething problems. That, coupled with the absolute horrendous customer service, is why I will never recommend GPX to anyone.
Honestly I just can't buy a GPX on principle because it's a design stolen from people who actually took the time, money, and effort to come up with. I'm gonna save up and get a 450 EXC-F instead

the drz400 replacement. lighter weight, 6th gear, fuel injection and possibly better suspension for the same price brand new.
After 900 miles the thing is already having issues! Lets see how they hold up after say 20,000 miles!

I owned a GPX 250tse . I sold it , bought a used 01 cr125 . Much liter softer more dependable. 😎

In my experience having owned both an SSR 450 and the GPX, I'd go with the SSR. Easier to get parts for in a pinch.

It's close to the DRZ, definitely more power than one. It also has better suspension, brakes, and is lighter than a DRZ.

I think you may have posted on the GPX group on Facebook too, but it cruises well at 65-70 mph with 14-48 gearing.

Well after the bad experiences I had with both the bike and GPX customer service, go with the DRZ. You'll get a way better bike in the end.

How often do you change oil and oil filter?
I change the oil at about 500 miles ride and the filters at the same time. Probably overkill but since this uses Rotela, it's cheap to do.
Maico bar mount will have movement similar to that not exactly but you can fell it. I've rode one a bit not for me lol
I was never a fan of the Flexx bars either. I like mine as solid as possible.

You're better off, the price of the new GPXs are in the used KTM range.
