The Hardest Offroad Loop in North Central WV! Wolfhaven Tree Farm aka WTF!
zhlédnutí 78Před dnem
A few years back, our good buddy, Mark Wolfe, opened up his property to us for our first ever dualsport event. We have slowly transformed the track into a 7.2-mile loop of hell! This year, it will be the first obstacle of our 304 Detour Hard Loop. Mark has a fantastic yurt and camping opportunity available here for our moto brethren!

Sorry, James! I hope people hit you with some good insight.
nice bro ! Can we get an update on the Sr450 ?
Hey man, unfortunately, I sold the 450 a few years back. Hopefully, in the future, I can pick up another one to do more content on!
I will say an Ssr 110 is good for a kid.But the faster you go the more you learn so i would say get a 125
The old versions are crazy Off-roading capable. New one is heavy and scary czcams.com/users/shortsqcE2wFiEKyM?si=2Looy_2V5Q9yGCvy
Anything is a dualsport if you try hard enough haha 😄 I'd love to try one of the new Moto Morini X-cape 650s since they're a more offroad oriented Versys.
Squid
Absolute tosser
Where is this?
Right outside of Grafton WV
@@wrightcycleworks I'm in morgantown but may be a bit much for my GS1200 lol
@@robertwilliams4625 it'll be just a wee bit tight in a few spots for a big beamer 😆 🤣 I have taken my Africa Twin on a few sections but not the entire loop.
Thank you for the good information
Kanes the man!
I’m happy with my footage from the Hero 12 I got for my birthday, but I instantly (get it?) started having buyer’s remorse over not getting an Insta 360 X3. The possibilities for multiple angles from one shot look so well suited to riding. Switching mounts or running multiple cameras is too complicated/expensive in my opinion.
Imagine that , a 2024 $13,500 Husky comes with the shittiest brakes of all time!
I got a 2020 sr450. Solid bike for a chinese bike. Ive also owned the sr125 in the past. The engine is robust. I put 41 fcr carb on the 450 amd man....the bike rides now like its on steriods lol. Its like the cheat code to these bikes.
I have a 300l I understand the short comings of the suspension, but it's the bike I have and I am just going to run it. I'll figure out how to make it work for more enduro style dual sport riding. Dumping money into the suspension doesn't make sense and I'm in no position currently to get something like a ktm. Fortunately I weigh about 170lbs with gear on.
Most of the time, the best bike to get is the one you already have!
Can't wait for the legion run this year, had a great time last year. Great video!!
I recently purchased a 2022 Kayo 250 K6-EFI new from the dealer, at the time they had it listed for $4,999.00. After negotiating back and forth for about a month, I got them to come way down on price and I ended up paying just over $3k for the bike. $3,042.69. I also got them to throw in a new helmet to go with it for free! Now at that price for a bran new fuel injected 4 stroke dirt bike, I was happy! And was willing to take a risk of purchasing a Chinese brand bike. And I gotta be honest, I’m pretty happy with the bike! I’ve made a few modifications and added some legal accessories, gone through the whole process of getting it registered, licensed, insured, and it’s officially street legal in the state of Texas! - loopholes required - It’s definitely been a fun lil city rippin’ Supermoto! I hate to hear all the troubles you had to go through with the people at GPX. That’s just bad business! I myself, along with many others alike, sure do appreciate the heads up information and fair warning about the company. Cheers, and God Bless.
That's great to hear! In all honesty, I was perfectly content with it as a trail/dualsport bike. And even with it blowing up racing, I was still a fan. Just the way my issue was handled left me with a bad taste.
Is this ride considered mild or wild?
Wild
lots of talking and not a lot of proof tbh.
Does this route take you over private land?
No, the Tour DE Coalfields is all on county roads.
Thank you for the update. I was considering buying one of these. Bad service was the reason.
so technically you could very easily drop a crf450x motor in this?
Technically, yes. Or vice versa.
@@wrightcycleworks Here in Australia a brand has been going for 15 years called Braaap and they just released back in 2021 the MX450 but it looks very much the same as this bike its only $7290 with a lifetime warranty for $250 but it only makes 43hp and im sure its just a CRF450X 2007 i was thinking of getting one of them or a 2022 WR450F for about $9000
You can do all the normal 450x mods to these to help wake them up. FCR carb, pink wire mod, air boot ect.
@@wrightcycleworks thanks for the info mate
So these are actually decent bikes? I didn't know ssr even made full size bikes, this makes me SUPER happy cause I have kids that ride/race and I need a new bike. Im definitely wanting a 250!
I agree with the dual sport vs. street bike argument so much. I always think street bikes look cool, but I’ve never flown off of a street bike and started laughing before I hit the ground like I do when riding a dual sport off-road. Dual sport and dirtbike riding has ruined car driving for me. I resent every time that I’m forced to cage it anywhere.
I learned how to ride on a 1981 Yamaha IT 175 👍
i love these videos. Showing us what the little VERSYS 650 can do. i love mine eventhough i bought her as a winter beater to safe my T7 from all the rust. but she got to me. Feels like she has more than 61 hp and she feels super sporty compared to the T7. And she loves to lift that front wheel 😂
I love my Versys as well. It's such an underrated bike in my opinion. I think the short wheelbase also helps it be an absolute wheelie menace 😆
Great video. Where did you get on the rr bed? I heard the park stopped allowing motorized traffic but I guess no one got the memo because I keep seeing videos like this. The folks at the confluence center are not allowing access there. I have taken Lucas rd 3/3 down Laurel cr but it was steep and rutted.
I believe it was right outside of Nallen
All of the Japanese manufacturers are sub-contracting a large amount of there small motorcycles and off road motorcycles to china , Taiwan , and India for manufacturing ....with Japanese engineers over seeing the process. Manufactured in china with Japanese engineering , is a term i have heard a few times
They have a lot to perfect on their bikes but its a great concept The thing that throws me off is how gpx treated you really not even the imperfections of the bike just the customer service
You guys could barely keep a straight face with that last show comment. I already knew it was coming. Lol
Hahaha you know it 😜
Was looking to buy one thanks for the info .How you kept your cool is amazing
Do you still have this Versys? I believe it was mine from a few years back.. cheers and hope she's good to you
I do haha 😄 she's still kicking around
Thanks for a really balanced and fair-minded review. You didn't rant. Instead, your comments were more than reasonable, and it sounds like you've also been very patient. It was an excellent account of your experience with the issues on the bike. Incidentally, a bill for the missing engine parts is outrageous. Who'd want to do business with a bike shop like that? For my part, I was looking at buying a GPX, but I'll definitely pass now! Instead, I'm going to do as you suggested: get a used European/Japanese bike!
SSR450/250 guy here. Could we race them? Sure. But we trail them. Why? Because we’re not a racing team. Don’t expect these bikes to do what the big 4 do and you’ll be satisfied.
Was just thinking , couldnt you get motor parts from CSC fairly quick?
Imagine that , a cheap Chinese copy of a Husky had issues? C'mon ? I don't believe it! 😂
Do you prefer the ssr450? Im thinking of buying one?
Yes, simply because it's easier to get parts for the SSR. Anything needed quickly can be ordered for a 2008ish CRF450X.
@@wrightcycleworks I don't race anymore I'm just looking for a good trail/ backroad bike with decent power ...I've read that some people are putting 38mm carbs on them to improve performance
@@christopherhill6870 yes there's lots of ways to squeeze more power out of them.
The Forma you have there, is a light duty adventure boot with a soft, flexible sole. They offer a stiffer boot with a harder, more aggressive sole and an optional steel toe cap, the Terra Evo.
How many Chinese enduro riders have you heard of? 🦗 🦗 🦗 Exactly . How many European riders are there? Case and point .
Haha! Nicely Done ✔👏😂
You still have the van
Hell yeah, a little Jurassic 5!
Thank you for this
How would you compare GPX to the SSR? Thanks
is it you on the bike? you have a belly man. go to the gym. a hare scramble! ha ha ha
stop playing the GOD DAM MUSIC let the machine do the music it sounds so beautiful
I wasn’t watching but just caught up on it today 😂 shoulda knocked $100 off it
Mark, your website is awesome! It's bookmarked in my Chrome browser. Thanks for your contribution to the sport. Your comment about adventure bikes when you have kids definitely hits close to home. I won't get a real adventure bike until I have time for real adventures. Thanks for joining this week's show.
I was trying to look at bits and pieces of this trail on the onX Offroad. Out of curiosity past the 20 minute mark is that between Crumpler and Montcalm? Or is that before Crumpler?
That creek crossing and section after would be directly after Crunpler if your headed counter-clockwise like we did. The section after the creek is pretty rocky and fun. It's smooth sailing after that into Montcalm. Thanks for watching!
@@wrightcycleworks awesome, thank you! It looks like a good time, and thank you for sharing!
