The only Harden clip wasn't even a travel... it was just a super long dribble. You have to touch the ball for a travel. (Note, I am not even a Harden fan. He just gets a lot of undeserved flak for traveling when he is just good at gather steps)

Okay but this show doesn’t actually know how to count steps. Say someone is pivoting they count the legal steps as travels before the player changes foot
You can only have 1 pivot point, either toe or heel. If they switch pivot points on the foot, then yes, every move of the other foot is a step that also needs to be counted.

Made my day. I think calling travels became optional in like 2007.
They counted the steps way too early. Your steps don't start counting till you collect the ball. Still, most of them were insane travels
TNT does not understand the travelling rule. These were all travels but they counted 6 and 7 steps on 3-step travels. You don't count every step after the ball hits the ground; You count each step after the ball is held or carried (touched with a second hand , hand under ball, or palmed) .The Brewer (MN) dunk (1:19) was 3 steps, the Ferguson (OKC) dunk (6:36) was 3 steps. Other counts were almost as bad. All travels, all worthy of Shaqtin a fool, but don't make up rules with these step-counts. It ruins the point. (also don't count legal steps when pivoting; only count when they lift/switch the pivot foot).

That said, I do think they should be more serious on game rules even in a screw ball segment.

Traveling is one of the easiest calls to make, something just looks off when it happens, yet they just let it go
6:05 he didn’t travel, the ball wasn’t in his hand till the final 2 steps, also based on there logic, they seem to think just pivoting is a travel...
Harden had possession of it the entire time. If that was legal one could simply pass the ball between his hands and run down the court. Also, you're right about the pivot foot UNLESS they have shifted it. Once he shifts his pivot foot you could count each of those steps when there is no pivot foot established.

Michael Hiatt players can push the ball as far as they want, but the ball wasn’t in his hand until he reached the three point line, maybe he took 3 steps, but not 7, so even if it was a travel it wasn’t a shaqtin...
Michael Hiatt he had possession but he didn’t pick up his dribble till he shot it, a player can’t pass the ball between his hands while walking, but he can push the ball and take as many steps without touching the ball as he wants and then pick it up and shoot
@@michaelhiatt8802 it literally wasn’t a travel. It’s not about “control of the ball”. That’s a football term. It doesn’t exist in basketball. As long as the dribble remains live, you can take as many steps as you need to.
