@@flyindo I can’t say it’s better to be honest, I’ve been comparing them side to side and I really like the DAC on the Ultra. It all depends on the synergy of your system. If you have a bright sounding system, the SU-1 will be better, if you have a very warm or neutral system, the Ultra will be better. But still I can’t describe the Ultra as bright, it’s just more sparkle and revealing at the top!

You know I played it last night for a few hours. I love the sound stage, full sound, micro detail and focus in the middle. The more I played it and once I did the room correction the sound was much better. The WiiM Pro Plus sounds warmer and different, but noticed a little hole in the middle of the sound stage, like the singer is on the back of the sound stage. with the budget external DAC I was able to fix that up.
Nice setup and music. Something strange there with the resolution, CD's are 1411 kbps - 16bit/44.1khz so the display is either reading incorrectly or it's being upsampled by something. Wiim's in the past haven't been capable of upsampling.
Just ordered mine! I still own a SMSL SU-6 DAC though... Not sure if it's worth keeping. I'd like to streamline my setup a little and ideally I'll run the WiiM Ultra directly into my power amplifier. Have you already done a comparison with your SU-1? :)
It would be perfect if it had an I2S digital output. But there isn't. The sound of my system is much better if my DAC receives the input signal via the I2S interface. The Eversolo DMP-A8 is a better product but much more expensive. I hope WiiM makes a version with I2S output as well. It's okay if it doesn't have a DAC.
I tried using the HDMI arc to play music from my SACD but it didn't work, I don't know why. Anybody knows if the HDMI is an input or output connector on this Streamer??!!

I will plug in my sub and use the riaa aswell. Just about my nad3050. You think the riaa and dac is better in the nad?

I just got a simple Kable Direkt RCA cable from the output of my Turntable, into the input phono of the Wiim Ultra. Nothing else. I will try a moving coil cartidge that I have on my main audio room.
Would you please demonstrate how the Wiim Ultra connects to a Windows PC and what you can do with the two connected? ie. Can the Ultra act as a dac or soundcard, or can it feed bit perfect music to a PC and bypass the Windows Audio system? I've been looking for answers to this, but can't find any information on it. I feel like I'm looking at streaming on a PC all wrong because it seems no one else does it?
I'm not sure if you can input into a computer, I tried HDMI input from my SACD output using the HDMI cable provided and it didn't work. I tried using other HDMI cables that are ARC capable and it still didn't work.
So how does it compare to the Eversolo DMP-A6 - you mentioned you own(ed). I'm considering getting the DMP-A8, but want to try out the WiiM Ultra first as this is the first WiiM product that actually has a USB output and I can finally connect my aune Magic DAC XVIII with their LPS and a Sparkos Pro opamp and take advantage of the external DAC's own clock, which also has the ESS 9038 Q something DAC chip... All other digital outputs on WiiM should be considered as last reserve or budget sound, if you don't want the DAC to chase the source's clock. USB/I2s all the way, or it's listening to a switching power supply sound... ;)
I like the Eversolo DMP-A6 a lot, nothing wrong with it, I just wanted to experience something different. I believe the Op-amp and the system surrounding the DAC chips is more important. I really liked the Cambridge Audio and the Arcam streamer with their level of refinement in the sound. It’s great to know that all these budget streamers are giving us a lot for our money. My advice is to get the WiiM Pro Plus or Ultra and get a good DAC and you will have better sound quality than the Eversolo, but for looks I like the Eversolo and the HIFI Rose!
@@Paul-tw3yi if it’s cheap, it’s going to sound cheap. WiiM products are for budget oriented customers, Eversolo and products over $500 are for quality first customers i.e. audiophiles, price comes second. Eversolo is not going to drop its price as its target audience is not cheapaudio customers.
@@Paul-tw3yi Sir price is not always expressed in sound quality, a 10,000 Dollars speaker doesn’t sound 10 times better than a 1,000 Dollars speaker. Some speakers and equipment are expensive because of the material they are made, the design and the make. Try the WiiM Ultra, I bet you won’t be disappointed! I think WiiM made an investment in this streamer to damage the competition, I think this streamer should be more expensive. And I played the Phono stage using both Moving Magnet and Moving Coil cartridges and they both sound great. The Phono stage might lack a little refinement, but for the price is free and it sounds great.

Entre mas escucho el Wiim Ultra más me gusta. Yo creo que la pantalla de Eversolo es Mas atractiva, pero el Ultra suena muy bien y ademas tiene Phono Preamplifier para Moving Magnet y Moving Coil, eso lo pone en una situacion por encima de todo mundo para muchas personas.
Everyone has a different taste, some people likes Rap, Some Jazz and Some Rock and Roll. They sound a little different, I find like there’s a little missing in the middle of the sound stage with Pro-plus, the sound is very smooth and relaxing, but it sounds like the singer is covered with a veil, but you will still enjoy the smoothness. The Ultra has a nice wide sound stage, great resolution and imaging. The singer is right in front of me, but which ever one you choose you’ll be satisfied, it’s just up to your taste.
I have a little Bluetooth receiver that is available for about $10 connected to my Marantz 2240, two channel system. I currently link it to my iPhone which allows me to access any music or audio from video from my device to be played on my stereo system. It's basically converting digital to the analog system, so besides room correction and some 3rd party EQ, I don't think this will help me. I'm still trying to figure out why anyone would need this with a 2-channel system.
Wiim pro can upgrade the original switching power supply to after market linear power supply, I already have very good DAC and as the pure streamer with LPS it sounds as good as Eversolo A6. Looks like you cannot upgrade anything to Ultra. Can you let us know how good Ultra is compared against the Pro, maybe It is not that much better as pure streamer and maybe I will have to skip this time and wait for pure streamer.

The ESS chip in my Schiit Modi+ is not bright at all. It’s actually a little on the warm side. A lot has to do with the analog stage implementation.

I’m not really sure, because I never had the NAD! But I’m very impressed with this Streamer to be honest. It was made to make a statement?! I guess!!

Eversolo is going to have to drop its price or come up with a cheaper version to compete with this. This has better features for 1/3 of the price.

Yes you can use the apps directly from the Ultra using the touch screen

I have that one too that I bought in 2016 and trust me, the sound quality is not even close.

They sound different, but both sound great. The Pro Plus sound smooth and warm, while the ultra is more detailed, but not harsh!
