- January 13, 1996 - Rookie Stackhouse came into this game saying how over the summer he was whooping Jordan's butt down in North Carolina, so Jordan took it out on him and Vernon 'Mad Max' Maxwell, who also had some choice words for he and Pippen. Jordan takes the Heir Apparent to school all night. MJ Finished With 48 Pts in 3 Quarters

I was at this game like 10th row .. I was fixated on MJ during warm ups and he didn’t miss a shot.. I knew I was about to witness something special. Definitely something I will never forget 🙏
Sure
He missed 3 shots actually warming up. Come on stop it.
@@themouse6539 we’re you there.. I was close af..the man didn’t miss In warm ups.. that is not a stretch at all for MJ much less any NBA player .. not really getting the purpose of your comment
Lies, stop it
@@wessteinfeld3337 he was born in like 2009 😂
I live in the Philly suburbs (Bucks County at the time of this game). This was the 1st game I got to see MJ & the Bulls in person. My sister got me tickets to it for Christmas. Was absolutely surreal and amazing to see him in person for the 1st time. He owned Stackhouse all night. While he didn't do any amazing dunks, to see him score 48 in 3 quarters on all jumpshots was just insane! Plus at the end of the game, we we're sitting right by the players entrance, I got a high-five from John Paxson who was an assistant coach for the bulls at the time. Never forget this game!!!
:P
GOOD STUFF
That's a cool story man.
05FordGT - surrrrreee ya did
I was living in the Chicago suburbs during this game then moved to Doylestown right before A.I. Took over. Got lucky there.
Sweet man! I never saw Jordan in person til he was at the Charlotte hornets game a few years back.
The announcer actually said golly whiz 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Another day at the office for the GOAT.
Jordan retired in 93 and in '98 let that marinate he would have easily been the all-time leading scorer in NBA history
But he isn't an isn't even close all-time. Let reality marinate.
@@Mmacrossfirekenai he would the all time leading scorer if he played 84-2003 straight without both retirements, wilt would also be the leading scorer if he never got injured later in his career and he played for at least 3 more seasons
@@Mmacrossfirekenai but he is the leader in ppg in the season / playoffs / finals. Now please let that marinate
MJ is the goat. Now let that marinate. 🐐🏀 😂🤣
EASILY bro. That’s FOUR whole seasons in between that he was out and came back both times dominating the 90s stars then the 2000s stars! There’s no other storyline like that in the history of sports.
MJ could easily put 60 if he played at least 5-6 minutes in the fourth.
Stackhouse made the mistake that so many other players make in that they start TALKING about what they've done to Michael. They don't realize that Michael sometimes PURPOSELY sandbags, especially in the off season. He is just waiting for that 1 person to run their mouth. The rookie had to learn the lesson the hard way.
there is a great story about them playing pickup in Chapel Hill and Jordan completely shutting Stackhouse down.
Jordan was and still is the GOAT. Dude was magical to watch play live, he checked all the boxes. In today's game, he'd be hitting 48 every game.
How is he the goat and the best players are playing now

Lol it got so bad for the 76ers that their fans were CHEERING every time Jordan made a basket. I remember watching that game and was laughing about that!
Rumor is stackhouse till this day is still looking for his defense
Still funny how Stackhouse was flying out in the crowd trying to block his shot.🤣😂
This 7:33 were more exciting than the last regular NBA season.
This is how you skillfully destroy a man’s ego! 🍸😂 cheers!
Bro side note, I remember the slam dunk contest where Vince Carter blew everyone away. I think Jerry was right after Vince. Vince does one of his incredible dunks and the crowd goes wild, then Jerry Fucking Stackhouse jumps from the free throw line and dunks it with both hands and no one bats a ducking eye lol
This didn't happen. Not even close. Maybe you dreamed it? lol
@@beevee2312 lmao funny that after I wrote this I watched it again and you’re right…. Funny how memories can get fucked up over time
Stack was a beast at NC but Jordan made him look like he needs to return to junior college and take up a trade!!!!
“Ah ho golly whiz!”
Oh, you have the same first name as Jerry Krause? That’s all I needed and it became personal with me.
Beautiful ball handling with the left hand at 6:29
His fundementals along with his athleticism were insane.
As a kid I used to think MJ was 10 feet tall because he was obviously the best . As an adult when I learned he was only 6'6 that Goat title was even more special
Jxmy Highroller had a video segment about this. Can someone point to that video, can't seem to find it :/
This is the time Stackhouse got owned and never talked about MJ again.
MAN THESE THROWBACK VIDEOS ARE OFF THE CHAIN SO IS THE BULLS WITH THERE HERD OF GOATS 🐐🐐🐐 AS I SAID BEFORE PIPPIN, RODMAN, AND JORDAN MADE THE BULLS!!💯🏀👀✌️
literally owned him during this game, you could tell he was mentally intimidated just like many other players when he played a full force MJ. always took his opportunity to score in 1v1 situations vs Stackhouse
Stackhouse became Jordan's practice pylon.
This was light work for MJ on the real....if jordan really wanted to destroy stackhouse he would've had 58 - 10 & shutting him down to 14 points..🥇🥇🤯🤯🏆🏆🏅🏅🏀🏀🏆🏆
MJ: I took it personally (i take everything personally)
You can't just trash talk the 🐐 like that
I was at this game on the upper level of the Spectrum. It was right after a huge snowstorm. Tough to get to. MJ was a man possessed tho. He had around 30 at halftime. Sat out the entire 4th.
Never trash talk the GOAT.
THE REAL GOAT
AGREED! 💯
1-9
Cause theres more to the game than scoring
How much have you won loser?
Stackhouse looked that reporter in the eye and said "i feel that i'm the best 2 guard in the league". Then this happened 🤦♂️.
sg500 no he said “ I can outscore NBA’s leading scorer” (it was Jordan that time).then after the game Phil said: “he could have scored 100 back there if I didn’t take him out”
What the hell was he thinking? 🤦♂️ is right lol
I'll never forget this game. This wasn't about Jerry Stackhouse trash talking Jordan. This was a result of MJ talking to Dean Smith. Jerry Stackhouse was caught in an interview after playing MJ while he was still in North Carolina scrimmaging with MJ and said 3 days after that game "the NBA is easy". Dean Smith told MJ to show Jerry what the NBA was really about once he made it to the league...and Jordan came out this game and baked Stack. That dude was never the same after...lol
Never the same? I dunno man. Stack put up some monster seasons in Detroit. He's not a hall of famer or anything, but he's made all star teams, had a really long career, made a lot of money. Let's not act like he was never heard of again lol
@@southbeachtalent he probably meant he could have been a bigger star but I agree that stackhouse had a pretty decent career.
southbeachtalent eh 2 good seasons with pistons which are the only 2 years he was an all star in a total of 18 seasons. Career was 16.9 ppg 3 rbg and 4 apg which are respectable numbers. Not even ranked in Detroit’s top 25 players. He was ranked 295th on Slams top 500 all time. Toni Kukoc was number 250 lol 😂. He was just overrated to me and his only real accomplishments are lasting 18 years, two all star appearances no starts and named to the all rookie team. His best season in his career ppg wise he was number 1 in the league for field goal attempts, misses, and turn overs. I liked Stackhouse in general but most look at him with rose colored glasses. Just my thoughts on him.
@@waynewayne9693 one of his best seasons was actually playing with 40 year old MJ and even then, despite averaging more points, MJ was clearly still the better player of the two. Stackhouse's game was mostly running into people to get to the line.
If you ever played basketball, you know who's the best...
seeing Michael play without missing a step on offense and defense .. the fluidity and jumpshot and balance and defense.. just the best ball player ever

Can we talk about how great a defender Scottie Pippen was, too? One of the greatest defenders to ever play any sport.
Chicago born and raised here. We always gave Scotty Pippen his props for being a monster 2nd only behind Michael Jordan. It's not Chicago Bulls fans, it is people OUTSIDE of that circle that don't give him his props.
Facts
Totally agreed. Maybe the best. Having watched him his whole career makes it very believable
MJ is just so smooth. His game is just so damn elegant
Love watching/hearing Johnny "Red" Kerr call MJ's game. RIP.

Truly unreal quick reflexes and control

People say the players today are "bigger, stronger, faster" well, Jordan would not have been held to 9 points by 5'4" 128 pound JJ Barea in an NBA Finals game like a certain someone was.
Y'all be taking more inches from barea than my gf from Tyrone the plumber. He ain't that short hahaha
Phantom Dreamer Barea is actually at least 5’11, 6’0. Either way, Jordan would have abused him.
😂🤣
💯% FACT. MJ would have been arrested for rape on JJ.

Great point LeBron didn't attempt to guard KD in 2017 but I give him a pass in 2018 bc he had to carry the Cavs ALL BY HIMSELF so it's reasonable that he couldn't guard him bc he spent too much energy on the offensive end
@TheRealist 811 hey bro, not even 1988 MJ can guard KD... just being honest. Also MJ didn't have the flu, he had a hangover. It's the media protecting their daddy(MJ) that started the "flu game" BS.

If he would have played the full 82 games in his second season he would have more points
Wishful thinking.
Hey, anyone can trash-talk with MJ, but he'll make them eat their words eventually....
I remember Stackhouse was claiming the NBA was “too easy” for him.:) Jordan would average 50 a game in this era. Jordan was in his 30’s here and Stackhouse was a kid. A younger Jordan really would have taken it to Stack.

MJ is such a good player because his efficiency was seen on almost every play. The ball never stopped, kept moving and MJ stuck with what he was good at - mid range and driving layups. The fluidity of motion helps conserve energy on every play. All that energy saved means playing with a clearer mind, making better decisions, rather than being fatigued allowing him to be more switched on in the clutch.
Hall of fame mid range deadeye
"He hasn't got 50 this year yet, ya know?" Says the announcer. That's how good this guy was.

It's weird seeing basketball without traveling
This is only one of the many many many sensational Michael Jordan performances, just to watch almost any of his playoff runs he on another level even with the defense of back then
Put MJ in today's NBA where the defense is so watered down, it wouldn't be fun if you like watching 99 overall in 2K why people so many people still question his GOAT status is beyond me

Bill Russel used to block shots like that. It's called a block pass. A block that results into a transition fast break. MJ Pippen Greatest duo of all time.🙏
MJ has proven himself what he can. when people criticized him for ain't capable on shooting beyond the arc but he did by bombing 6 triples in just first quarter. When Kenyon Martin laughed and said Jordan has back pains due to old age..Jordan out scored him with 44 points and carried the Wizards' victory. How can you break him as the first NBA player in history to record 200 steals and 100 blocked shots in a season? You might say..nah! today's era is faster and quicker than Jordan's era. Well, have you heard the historical victories of Reggie Miller and Tracy McGrady aka T-Mac? Reggie scored 8 points in just 9 seconds. Then T-Mac sank 13 points in just 35 seconds.
