On the other hand, comparing under paying for a washing machine cycle is not exactly comparable. The key difference is that the washing machine is capable providing thousands of cycles. The impact of someone paying a little less for one cycle is less significant than the loss of $100 phone. It doesn’t justify not paying the full amount, but viewing the washing machine situation as a discount is reasonable.

Something else to add: A smart laundromat owner would charge a little more for a cycle than the cycle actually costs them. The extra money would be saved or used to cover situations like when a costumer underpays. It's a good business practice to have enough money saved up that you can operate your business at a loss for a couple months to a few years.

I have no problem with this. When places refuse to fix their dryers and it costs $3.75 just to dry your clothes in three full cycles, they're stealing from you.
exactly . also i pay rent on time and i expect my landlord to maintain the washer and dryer and if i have to do laundry and the coin mechanism is not working right to turn it on then i have the right to do what is necessary to turn the machine on .

Yeah I have a horrible landlord that won't give you coins back when it eats them. I have kept track it's been over $100 I have lost. So not stealing, plus luck you $1.25 to wash, ours is $2 to wash and $2.50 to dry.
I just use a home depot bucket. Some detergent and elbo grease does the trick. why pay for gym when you can hand wash clothes almost for free.

Why where they hackable? Mine has them but it does poor job washing our clothes. Never gets stains out with any name brand detergent i even tried the tide pencil it was useless too.

Rent is already so much money though an then these landlords get lots of bank as well if you pay a pet deposit. Not all of us want to be wasting money on are laundry as well. They could at least be generous an give tenants free detergent that that these so landlords buy if there gonna make us pay for the laundry. Might as well be nice an us the coins they get out of the machine for good instead of for there greedy hands. Some people are spending 4 dollars of such on laundry an drying. That adds up a lot over time an people are still trying to pay for groceries on top of this living necessities. SMH. 🤦🏼♀️

Some of you are really gonna be bummed when your honest management or landlord just close your facility and luxury of haing laundry within steps of you residence. If you total up the overhead, utilities, maintenance of machines and thousands and thousands of dollars for new machines? Do not be suprised when they just close the laundry room.
Exactly! They included as a convenience for the tenants so they don't have to haul a bunch of laundry up to the laundromat.
I see so many entitled people on here talking about the landlord "owes them" when the machine breaks down. The entitlement is real! It's the same kind of mentality of a person who asks, "why isn't Water free?" Lol. The answer to that question is that water is free, but the plumbing, sanitizing, processing, and the service of enabling it to come right out of your TAP when you turn your faucet on isnt free. So if you want free water, go ahead and get it. Just don't expect anyone to serve it to you on a silver platter.
If a person doesn't like their situation, complaining and blaming does absolutely nothing. It's up to the person to change their own situation, not a landlord, teacher, supervisor, parent, or anyone else.

Screw you for teaching people how to steal. I get that laundry vendors gauge people sometimes, but have you ever thought that they need to pay a water bill, electric bill, maintenance for the machines and thousands and thousands of dollars to replace a machine?? I get that a lot of places gauge customers but some of us with small laundry rooms at small apartment complexes do not make a cent and basically give everyone laundry for free. I charge the market rate for laundry and people have no idea that some of us do not even break even.
if i have to go to the laundromat to do laundry because my landlord is neglecting the machines then when they are finally up and running again then i want some money back for the increase i had to pay to use the laundromat instead of the machines on the property i pay rent for .
@@marleonetti7did the landlord tell you that on site coin laundry was a part of what you're paying for in your rent? If so, then you wouldn't be getting charged for each load.
After speaking with several landlords they said that it was the worst idea and a pain because that was the majority of their maintenance calls. I'm pretty sure landlords just add it as a convenience so tenants don't have to haul all of their laundry to the laundromat. It's not something they are required to include. So if you have one that does include it on site, consider yourself fortunate.
Till it wears out the coin slide then owner buys new one and raises the price , nice way to kill it for the honest residents who pay for their laundry
