Where I’m at, its $2 to wash and $2 more to dry. The owner purposely bought inadequate smaller machines so it takes 40% more washing and 40% more drying. My weekly laundry used to take $12. Since he put in new machines, I’m up to $20. He boasts about people doing minimum 30 loads per weekday (($2x30=60) x2 for drying) = $120. Weekends are double that. So, $120x5 days = $600. + $480 for Sat & Sun. Monthly is a staggering $4320.00! So I’m calling bullshit on the landlords chiming in, crying that they do it for the tenants. Or that their profit margins aren’t worth it. Stop fucking your tenants and they might start to respect you back.

You don’t push the wire in an out. That’s why you keep resting the machine. What you do is when you put the wire in and you see the timer going up you leave the wire where it is till you get to the max dry time or wash times and then pull the wire out and hit start there is nothing but a mechanical pin that the quarter hits on the way in and adds time when you add the coin by putting the wire in it’s just holding that pin down kinda like a lock tumbler but there is not sensors that read what kinda coin it is like I said it’s all mechanical so the pins are able to be pushed with the proper weight and pennies dimes nickels and quarters weight is different hens the machine is able to tell what coin was inserted

I get that laundry vendors gauge people sometimes, but have you ever thought that they need to pay a water bill, electric bill, maintenance for the machines and thousands and thousands of dollars to replace a machine?? I get that a lot of places gauge customers but some of us with small laundry rooms at small apartment complexes do not make a cent and basically give everyone laundry for free. I charge the market rate for laundry and people have no idea that some of us do not even break even.
Charge all tenants ~$10 extra for their rent, that will go towards the cost of having the laundry machines available and then charge just a couple of bucks per use to cover electricity/water at a relatively easy way to measure the exact cost per use, then take that cost and simply round up to the quarter! -- SIMPLE AND FAIR.
