In this video I am going to do gel overlay on my left hand. I was outgrowing my natural nails underneath for about 3 months - I did gel extensions first and two fills. Now they look quite long so I'm going to take the product off and apply gel polish on top.

I never miss short nails! I love my long nails đ Everyone is always asking me how I live with them. It's not like I went from natural nail numbins to extreme length over night. It was a gradual process. I wear contracts n they don't understand how I don't poke my eyeballs out lol

I started doing my own nails, because the local nails technicians were running my natural nails and I like to grow them out. I used to do my own nails 7 years ago and stoped but it was acrilic, so gel was a pain in my behind, in my first application I had lifting all my nails in 2 days mark, I watched just one of video and here I'm 2 weeks in and no lifting đ, that k you so much.
You and nail career education are my fav.

Hi Ana! Great video. Recently, I'm overlaying my own nails in gel. I'm hoping it'll keep them from getting stained.
For the title: I think you mean to say "grow out" rather than "outgrow." There's a small difference between the two. (I'm a native American English speaker.)
Outgrow means more that the growing thing will become longer/bigger than another thing. Example: He grew up and outgrew his old clothes.
To grow out is to let something grow on its own, and this doesn't have a relationship with another thing. Example: I want to grow out my natural nails.

The nail tech I went told me that it was not practical to overlay on natural nails. I think she just preferred acrylics. I've maintained an acrylic overlay on my natural nails for the past two years. I've even had different colored acrylic at times that has long since grown out. I get a fill every 4 weeks and they still look good to me.

I agree at the moment I have medium nails and I miss short ones
I prefer my nails long but I do have them shortened when needed. My dad got sick and had a bad wound that I had to take care of so I had my nails shortened so I wouldnât put them through the glove of poke him. Shortly after his recovery I had to move my office to my home. As soon as all that was done I let them grow out again. I have had acrylic overlay coffins for the better part of 5 years. My nail tech loves long nails and loves doing mine as I am her only client with nails as long as hers and she can do bigger stamp designs.
Getting my nails done is relaxing as is watching you do them in the videos.

I have my natural long nails on my right hand. I have to overlay them simply because Iâm clumsy. My left hand is damaged so Iâm growing them out but Iâm cutting them short to remove the damage. Then I will work on growing them long.

So glad I watched to the end. I have acrylics right now and my nails have grown. But theyâre so so very weak and brittle. Now I know that when I remove them I cannot just apply regular polish and keep it moving. I am thinking about doing a resin (glue) + clear powder kit to strengthen them but still allow a natural look. Will it be strong enough I wonderâŠ

Here in Germany it's normal to only use tips the first time doing the gel nails and then you let your natural nails grow out and just put gel on top of the natural long nail.

I did this with press on nails that I made and my nails grew a lot under the fake nail and weâre stronger I used nail oil also and it helps so much with growing your mail since before I did the press on nails with the nail oil my real nails never grew out and if they did only some will grow out and get weak and break but this method helps

Awww, that's kinda sad. If you like short nails to begin with, you could keep your naturals and just spend a bit of time every week to do a mani on them.

I just did the same thing! I was a terrible nail biter, and the only way I could stop and grow them out was to get acrylic extensions. I grew them under the acrylics for months, and once the were long enough, I got the extensions removed and replaced with an acrylic overlay over my natural nails. I have to have an acrylic overlay because my nails are so thin and fragile, but Iâm so proud of my progress and the length of my natural nails.

@@Sanskruti-2222 For me, press-ons wouldnât have worked, I would have just picked them off and bitten my nails underneath. Acrylics are way more permanent, and itâs very difficult and very painful (and REALLY bad for your nails) to rip them off, so I was able to leave them alone and my nails grew. If press ons are enough to stop you from biting then thatâs awesome, just go with that if you donât want/canât afford to maintain acrylics. But for me, press-ons would not have stopped me as I was reaaaaally bad about biting my nails.

@@Sanskruti-2222 it requires a lot of maintenance, yes, and time and money. You will need them filled every 2-4 weeks, and removed and redone periodically. I canât say how many months until your nails have returned to normal because I donât know how damaged your nails are; personally, I have to continue the acrylics indefinitely or I will just start biting again.

I'm so glad that you're safe!! Whenever I try to grow out my natural nails underneath, I get disgusting dark spots on the natural nails! By the time I fire down the dark spots, the natural nails are too thin and flimsy to wear without hard gel or polygel. What can I do to fix this?
Don't file off white / yellow // dark spots as you will overfile the nail plate! Try using nude or any other color on top with good coverage to conceal it instead

Some of my nails grow downwards which i hate so i always file off my nails underneath so the extension goes out straight
It is possible but also be careful if your natural nails curve down. Mine have a wicked down turn so two months of outgrowth is all I can do before I have to cut and start over.

Iâve tried to put on them base, than some gel (there was no need to create an apex), then color gel and then finish, BUT⊠theyâve ALWAYS started to splitâŠ. But immediatelly when Iâve extend them at least for a bit, did the same process, they lasted me normalny (4-5 weekend) without any lifting. Please, do you have any idea where am I doing mistake? I bite my nails so they're super short and ugly, I always wondered if you get extensions for your nails it'll force the nail grow the exact way like the extension? When I tried growing out my nails my pinky and ring fingers looked fine but my middle finger just grew more outwards and not straight above so it made my fingers look big and clumpy... :( I bite my cuticles sometimes as well and then it makes me upset that I'll never get pretty nice looking fingers and nails, although I'm ruining it for myself. Hello, please can I ask a silly question đ What do you mean by: product removal should not take more than 5 to 10 minutes? Is it for each nail or for whole hand? I have heard this many times before and never get it. When I am removing colour and a part of gel from my Mum's nails ( I only do nails for her) it takes me about 50 minutes for both hands. So I dont know if it's normal or if I am torturing my Mum on chair for such a big amount of time đ Thank you very much for your answer â€

I have a question. My natural nails are very thin and they bend really easily and when i do gel or acrylic overlay they lift at the free endge because they bend from the product....Why does that happen
I recommend you to use soft gel base coat and then overlay of any product of your choice.
Cause for flexible nails the best option is - soft flexible product for adhesion
