people like you are the backbone of this country, I have done some time on the Dairy Farm, it is hard work. We all owe the farmers and ranchers in this country a great deal of thanks and respect for what you all do!! Without you we would all starve!!
Backbone of the country? The left has convinced me that these are straight white Trump loving black and Mexican hating Nazis who need to pay slave reparations and give their land back to the Native Americans.
I definitely approve of the change of mat. Much more suitable. You maybe able to utilize the others on high turning areas in the shed for the herd if you can attach them. Turning on concrete can be hard on the hip joints and uneven wear of the hoof. They also can make great door mats to trap the dirt.
I have so much admiration for you. Your dedication to everything you do is so admirable. Every video I have watched so far has brought me joy and learning. I am currently watching your entire back catalog. Watching your "Seeding Alfalfa" Video and hearing the reasons you make these videos made me especially happy. I am so happy you share my faith in Jesus Christ. It is amazing how your channel is growing. that video is 1 year old and you are talking about not even needing to get 100k... I love watching your videos and getting to know you, but I also hope you get to spend a lot of time with your wife an daughter! I pray that you find a good balance.
The pride you, your dad, employee(s) have in your farming operation deserves to be showcased in these segments. If that one cow could speak, she surely would have said, “Excuse me. I just couldn’t help it.”
Whatever idea I may have had about dairy farming has been blown away. Your physical energy and time is amazing. Add in the expense of equipment, housing, repair of structures and equipment is bizarre. Then the cost of properly taking care of your animals, feeding them, medical care, etc. All my amazement from watching this one, my very first, of your videos. Thank you for adding into your day the time and energy in putting this/these videos together.
really nice parlor. I'd love to have that. I've milked in tie barns and in some very old parlors. The oldest was built in the 50's. 3 cows came in per side. they stood in line and we slid doors between each one. A lot of distance for just 3 cows. We fed grain in the parlor. At the bottom of these doors was a trough for the grain. It didn't work all that bad and I certainly prefer to any tie barn I've been in, but it took me 4 hours to milk 100 cows. So doing both milkings, plus feeding, and all the other chores made for some very long days. 4am to 9 or 10 at night if nothing went wrong. That was the first farm where I really fell in love with dairying in the early 90's. Sad to say it's part of a nearby golf course now. Most good land around here in northeastern NY, Lake Champlain and Hudson Valley regions has been developed or is currently being developed/butchered faster than farmers can hang on to just a few acres here and there. What these people don't seem to get is they want to move and build here because it's so beautiful, but 10 or 20 years after they do it's all developed and not beautiful anymore. so another farming area goes down for the next batch of developers. I've been watching it happen for 45 years now.
I used to stay in London (what a nightmare) but thankfully we moved to South West England, close to Bridgwater in Somerset. I absolutely love it here. It's a small village, 10 minutes from everything yet it's countryside. And every afternoon we hear the cows mooing, "milk me". They're couple minutes away, such beautiful animals. So I enjoyed watching your videos. I appreciate it's hard, consistent work but you can be proud of your farm.
It's crazy how much they notice. When my uncle passed away his heard dropped milk production almost 40% for a bit and the vet said that it was because they were depressed and stressed from missing him.
I just found your channel. Its great to see how good the girls are being taken care of. Thank you for letting us tag along on the farm and love the different camera views! 👏🤗
First time I have seen the calf barn. Nice looking unit. You always teach something new in your videos. The news mats in the milking parlor look really nice and seem they will be easier to clean up. Thanks again for sharing.
@@tylercook2577 like eds said and like i just said to isaac a 30 second time lapse of it would be so satisfying....idk how much the cement is perm stained but id assume not a lot with what goes on the floor so high pressure water on just dirty floor will be so satisfying like beyond belief
Hello. I liked the shot of the clock. You should show the time more often. Then it would give everyone a chance to see how long your days are and how busy you are throughout the day.
You take such good care of your cows! Non farmers may not notice how clean, well fed, and content your cows are. Keeping their hooves trimmed and always keeping an eye on them while milking is a great way to see health issues early. Thx for the great videos!
super video, you did a really great job, the milking parlor looks super, i bet it really feels good on the feet, you guys work hard and long hours also, we all really enjoyed it thanks for sharing
I remember your episode when those black mats were put in. I commented in agreement with your displeasure. They do absorb body weight nicely, but a real pain to clean! You surely are a hard worker. Cudos to you and your family; and a prayer for blessing on all farmers during these hard time with CoronaVirus.
Eric, I really enjoy watching your videos. Thank you for doing what you do. God has blessed our nation with people like you and your family who work long and difficult hours to keep us fed. Thank you and stay safe.
One of my favorite things about your farm is the "special needs cows" I've seen farms that won't even bother with animals that need extra care and attention. They usually just get sent to a slaughter house. Really shows you care more about your cattle then a lot of the bigger farms who mostly just see them as a tool for making money.
We have the same skid loader. It ended up having an engine failure the other day and we bought a 14' S750 bobcat. It's amazing how much better the newer skid loaders are. Just sucks they are so spendy for the newer ones.
devito501 we ordered the 40mm ones a week ago 1m square look to be exactly the same but just for the pit , they are nice under foot but I can't see them lasting under cows , anyway do the cows not start to lydown in the yard while waiting? Ours probably would especially at this time of year when it can take 2 and a half hours to milk. I am in Ireland and they cost €40 each plus the vat so the collecting yard may do without.
I am a new subscriber. I found you by accident and now I'm hooked! I love the way you care for your farm and dairy cows. Seems like you are more humane than some. Thanks for your extremely long hard working days. I love milk and milk products!
We use to milk 400 cows then We stopped in 2004 because we could not find help, but now we raise 700 heifers for a dairy farm that milks 2000 cows in norther Ohio and I live in south eastern Ohio
I know I've said it before, but I'm saying it again: It really is very enjoyable and motivating to watch your video. I like the style in how you do it. Great video again. Thanks Appreciate the time you take to do it in between all the farm chores. Can't figure out how you really do it. Must eat a lot of your precious time!
Another thumbs up Eric. Hope all is well, I keep hearing stories of Dairy farmers dumping gallons and gallons of milk, hope this "new norm" hasn't affected the farm to much.
Thank you again for all of your hard work. Always in awe when I watch your vlog on how much work it takes. Very grateful for people like you and your family. Sincerely Michelle Pup Harley and Kitty Liam from Arlington Massachusetts.
You are going to love the new mats. Saskdutch Kid put similar mats in his milking parlour a while back and he said they are really comfortable to be on. Your back and feet will thank you in about 20 years.

Aw that morning shower when you trying to prep the cows in parlor for milking. Good reaction Eric.
Thank you for all your hard work and keeping us fed and “milked”, I appreciate you showing us all your operation, dedication, and bless you.

Joined your channel last week. You are one hardworking young man. Enjoy watching the teamwork between you and your father.
Seen on the news about milk being dumped is all your milk being used.
Thank You for your hard work.

New mats look spectacular. Another super video!
Those back scratchers are a good investment, your family is good to their cows.
That little calf at 9:30 just melts my heart ❤️ cause he or she is being so noisy and is wondering what you gentlemen are doing!! LOL 🐄 🐮
I Love how you work so hard to give your animals a clean and healthy environment. Happy cows produce more. love the series
Worked on mats before, they really help, good job.
I knew a lot of water was required, but it makes it real to see how much cleaning you have to do. Just not to much way to go but lots of water!

If he was losing money on them he would send them to slaughter like any other it has to be done
it does take some attention and work to care for sick individuals but they are still productive members of society
I love that your giRL's are so clean.
