DUBROVNIK, CROATIA (2023) | 10 BEST Things To Do In & Around Dubrovnik

  • Dubrovnik is located in the south of Croatia and is relatively isolated from the rest of the country due to a small nook of Bosnia & Herzegovina that intersects the land connection. For centuries, Dubrovnik was an independent republic thriving through extensive trade with other maritime ports. However, the city also suffered attacks, of which the early 90’s war was the most devastating one. Today, Dubrovnik is considered the most picturesque city on the Dalmatian coast thanks to its stunning architecture, beautiful scenery, and ancient walls that once protected the republic. In this video, we highlight 10 of the best things to do in and around Dubrovnik:

    excellently described but I would add that Tivat(montenegro) has the best microclimate in every sense. Especially enjoyment for families, active vacations and hedonism. Preseason and postseason are the best options. Hiking on the Vrmac, tennis courts, open gym, padel courts, water sports, enjoying resorts, cafes with the most delicious food, beautiful nature. Humane place, according to man. We stayed for a month in Mia Casa apartments, a little separated from the center and yet close (with a view of the bay). Beautiful, spacious, we only hear crickets and enjoy the shade of the kiwi. Tivat, grade 10+

      Dubrovnik is a great place to visit! Especially during shoulder season. We weren’t there in February, but found this information about the weather then: “Dubrovnik weather in February is quite mild and enjoyable, although you'll still need to pack some warm clothes for the cooler weather in the evening. The average daytime temperature is around 9°C with mild seawater temperatures of 14°C.” In terms of getting from Split to Dubrovnik, there are no trains but there are buses and taxis. • @worldwildhearts
      @worldwildhearts  Před rokem +1

      Hmmm that’s a tough question! I’d say it’s best to buy it upon arrival in the airport. They usually have a booth where you can buy a SIM card. Not sure how much data you’ll get, it’s usually not very much. But the WiFi in Croatia was pretty stable and fast so you’ll only need it on the road

    • @oskar6607
      @oskar6607 Před rokem +1

      Get one in the Telenor shop in town. Or, you can get a mobile wifi hub with a card as well. That way you can call using Whatsapp or Facetime. Most cafes and restaurants will also offer free wifi (though it’s usually bad).
      If you are travelling on your own you should definately also visit the Konavle Valley just south of Dubrovnik and the aurport which has a lot of nice traditional restaurants. You should then go into Montenegro and see the Bay of Kotor which is absolutely stunning. Stay in the town of Herceg Novi and take a boat excursion from there to Kotor (rather than staying in Kotor). If you have time for Bosnia you should also go to Trebinje which is a cozy little town just on the other side of the border which is the centre of a great wine growing region.

    Good summary. You missed three day trips though:
    1. Trebinje - nicer and closer than Mostar with great wineries and a cozy old town
    2. Konavle valley - just south of the airport its a green oasis with lots of nice traditional restaurants
    3. Herceg Novi - just over the border in Montenegro it’s built on a slope and offers wonderful views of the opening of the Bay of Kotor. It has three castles and is offers a less busy seaside experience compared to Dubrovnik.

    Dubrovnik was attacked twice by the Orthodox once in the early 19th century (Russians & Montenegrins) and again in the late 20th century (1991) by Serbs and Montenegrins. Both times they failed to breach the walls but were content to pillage and loot the surrounding countryside.

      Dubrovniks population identified as Croatian since the dissolution of Dubrovnik Republic in 1808. For all of the foreigners reading this, now you can see what lovely Serbian neighbours we have. They always do this, push themsleves on everyone and claim every city is Serbian. They managed to destroy their relations with everyone with their "greater Serbia" bs, even Montenegrins who sticked with them until 2006 now hate them. They are like Russia of Balkans, always trying to force themselves upon their neighbours and steal their culture cause they themselves don't have anything nice. Back in 1991 they bombed Dubrovnik and tried to destroy the pretty town just cause they can't have it. Weird nation
