the bond that the survivors have will and can never be broken. the last sceen at the hospital together. Felt THAT.
I literally just watched this movie 30 minutes ago. I’m tearing up seeing this. One of the best movies I’ve ever seen. Amazing filmography , amazing story. Worth watching in full on Netflix
what is the title?
Society of the Snow
@@CloverX89
@@CloverX89 Bruh it's at the start
the worst part comes after they got rescued. the media berated them for eating their fellow dead to survive and it wouldn't be until many years later that people soften their views on them.
What is the movie called
I happen to have a fair few years & kilometers of mountaineering under my belt, and I've never seen a glacial valley end in anything other than a mild slope and a running river. I can't say this applies to all mountains, but it certainly applies to most: if you happen to survive one of these, instantly start going down, it doesn't matter which way it goes, as long as it's down the mountain. running water will always lead to civilization, and the further down the mountain you are, the more protected you will be from the elements. If you reach a forest, you're basically saved. Also: fire. Massive fire, the darker&thicker the smoke the better.
"If you reach the forest, you're basically saved." 😂 No.
Thanks for the advice and sharing your knowledge.
We never know if one day it may be needed.
@@Oblivisci........ a forest would provide food, a LOT more shelter from the wind, cold and rain and if you are already following a river youll probably end up somewhere...
also with forest you get easy wood for a big fire and blam... personally ill take a forest over an empty mountain ledge anyday
Water flowing downhill does NOT always lead to civilization. For example, it could end in a pond that leeches into the ground and goes no further. I read this in a Lost Person Behavior book
They werent near a river. They where in a valley surrounded by mountains right before the peak.
They luckily found a river. After having to survive until it got warmer and they were able to make a sleeping bag
That story never gets old
For those who didnt see the movie yet, this is a recap worth skipping. Go watch the movie.
Title please

One of the best movies I’ve seen in a long long time. You will be crying. Movie is so true to the story as far as we can imagine. I hope American directors can take note.
The actor playing Numa...God-tier level of acting!!
Respect to the man on the horse
Sergio Catalan he lives to be 90 years old and in 2020 passed away
The south american gaucho, truly a hard working people.
When Nando and the other guy went to find help and they found out just how many mountains they had to cover, one of them saw a winding road, but they weren't sure if that's what it actually was and didn't go down to it. It turned out that it WAS a road. ..
This story is amazing and just shows what individuals are capable of doing during a crisis and the desire to fight for survival...
If they had a camera why didnt they bring it with them and use the zoom feature to look for stuff like the back of the plane or othe people or civilization?
@@Nedits1381 maybe it didn't have that strong of a zoom lens....
@@janedoe-hq9vn maybe but most cameras of that era had atleast 2× zoom
@@Nedits1381no bro. No they did not lol. It was a cheap film camera

The 1st version (Alive) already very good.
This version even better.
Saw this the other day, ngl it was truly an amazing survival story almost as good as Alive 1993
It based on the same true story, and apparently this one is more historically accurate
I don't understand the need to remake a movie thats was made in 93.
@@michaelfuentes2171because the one in the 93 wasn’t accurate and the victims and survivors didn’t like it they had cameos in this film and helped heavily w production and very happy w how the movie came out so at least it gives them a chance to tell there story Better
Alive is trash. The survivors themselves call the movie the Disney version and tried to prevent it from being made. Society of the Snow is a superior movie in every sense, with the survivors and family members of the deceased people that were on the flight praising it. Some of them even made cameos.
Also, calling it a remake of Alive is ignorant as hell. How can you remake a movie about actual events? It’s something that actually happened. And this movie has a completely different take on the event. Not to mention that it uses actors from Uruguay and Argentina that speak Spanish with the accurate accent.
@@michaelfuentes2171 same , don't know why Disney remake and remade it's old own movies and stories
Im amused how they all so collective in the most desperate condition, theres barely any cheap drama
It's a true Story, unfortunatly. Its No cheap Drama, its a story of survival, endurance and Hope. A gruesome, brutal but a hopeful one nonethless
how many women have you seen alive in the grp lol
ICONIC MOVIE, saludos desde Argentina ❤
I swear govern budget for this kind of rescue mission is just 0.012% of the total budget while 70% is for bribe.
The human will to survive is incredible.
Just to think that the plane crash in the movie at the start was actually real and based on a true story… is crazy man ☠️💀
The entire story is real, eating people and all
@@oriancunningham (un)fun fact, the family members who are still alive helped make this movie and a few of them made cameos. SO this is a very factual movie.
The entire movie is a true story, and pretty much 100% accurate
If this happened to me it would absolutely destroy what little faith I have left 😖
Why? Nando Parrado, with a basilar skull fracture, survived after three days unconscious, only because the cold helped with the inflammation. He recovered enough miraculously and walked for 10 days to save everyone else. God sent him back from death after three days so he could accomplish his role. See the pattern? Don't lose faith.

Thought this was the film 'Alive' from the 90's until I noticed it looked a tiny bit more modern 😅
Me too lol can’t forget that movie for sure.
Alive was so good. Did not know there was a new movie about the story.
I watched Alive as teenager in the 90s, doesn't look like they've changed much for this reincarnation
Alive was the Americanized version, they left out a lot of detail, as commented by the real survivors, the energy between protagonists was a bit different, here you can feel their bond more clearly. Alive was a good movie for the time, this is better according to victims.
Give this movie an Oscar already 🎖
🙉
Just watched the whole movie and its an absolute 10/10 love it
It's a shame that this movie didn't win a single Oscar. But I so want to see it
This has to be the most terrifying plane crash story Ive seen
some of this is not right. they didn't decide to eat on day 21. they did that just about 14 days in. avalanche happened day 18. they also didn't leave the meat out to warm it but to dry it out so it's easier and less gross to eat. not chronologically narrated here either. the search was called off on day 10, that's a week before the first person ate meat. "they managed to get everyone out except a woman" no 8 people died there. what are you talking about? 7:05 that's not coco?? that's Arturo. 10:59 Roberto isnt with them, he literally stays back so they can get as many people into the copter as they can at once
Rugby players are built different🦾
Uruguayans are built different
Wdm? They suffered mutliple losses due to the cold, no one except people that live there could have survived that, they barely survived.
Ive watched a documentary on this. It was hard to hear how terrible it was for them. Thank for the recap, no need to watch the movie now
no, go watch the movie- it is worth it
I first knew about this story 52 years ago, when I read front page of the newspapers in 1972. since then I have read all the books, seen the 3 movies SURVIVE 1976, ALIVE 1993 and Society 2024. So transfixed that I even sing the song- Break it all- (the song at the airport scene) on my youtube channel. Its very real for me as I am similar age to the survivors. 💖💖🌹🌹New Subscriber here ✌✌

The pictures they took float around on the internet & in some of the pictures you can see human remains of the people they ate
This is a real life true story
I Finished the movie like 5 minutes ago, it was heartbraking.
they just copied another movie that was made exactly the same way....

oh true story. damn. Very well done movie. Very well done acting, very well done overall, their lives are not in vein.
It’s a true story
It's a true story, everything here happened to real people
'Alive' is literally the Hallmark version of 'Society ot Snow'.
But if you like blockbusters stuffed with famous actors of that era, you might disagree.
Awesome
thats brutal
This is a real story , when i was around 14 , Today im 26 , i was watching discovery channel and story if these guys were broadcasting.. i was able to watch the whole show because of the cannabilism and their sad story
Saw this yesterday
I have seen the 1993 movie about this subject few years ago.
If you liked this movie, I really recommend you listen to the You’re Wrong About episode about it. It is called Flight 571: Survival in the Andes. Amazing and heartbreaking.
Fun fact: this was a real crash accoured which was Urugrayan Air Force flight 571
At some point, seatbelt become useless during plane crash...
is there to keep you from flying from your seat, hitting yourself and others..., is not designed to 'protect you' , but it serves the purpose...
Near the end of the ten days walk I think Roberto threw up probably because the meat got spoiled by the temperature. So far it had remained edible because of the freezing cold but this change indicated to me that they had gotten out of the harsher part of the region, and might soon find people to help them
That is exactly what the movie was trying to portray. Irl, he did get food poisoning, in the form of diarrhea, and was extremely weak by the time the arriero came back to the river with paper, pen and food for him and Nando
I was watching this movie with my parents and my mom was talking about how this was a real story to my sister and my other sister and I was like oh my God I feel so bad and then she was thinking about it and it's like she said it was an actual story
Watcges this yesterday 😆😆
There's an actual picture of a survivor sitting next to the eaten corpse ( the ribcage)

They all look like models, before and after
to be fair, they were young and dashing rugby players from a private school the lating rich people tend to have European ancestry, Italian, German, etc.., Hollywood tend to portrait all Latin's as if they are Aztecs/ Mexican, which is not the case, Latins come in many sizes and flavors, Also they were young and strong, no wonder they were able to survive they had the better chance, physically stronger and fit will give you an edge... plus this is the 70's , Zoomers would be death in a couple of hours, checking their phones and trying to stream from the snow..🤣
@@migovas1483actually we are almost all like that... we don't have natives... all of them died a long time ago (search for "sal si puedes" for instance)... so yeah, we look like Europeans and not that much as "tipical" latinos...
In addition to this, Uruguay is the country with more european descendance and percentage of white people in all the Americas. They look like normal guys to me and not like models@@migovas1483
I recommend checking out the actual photos from the event. The actors closely resemble the survivors, and they even lost almost 20 kilograms for the final scenes.
look at photos of the real survivors they were all pretty handsome lol
Explain night swim pls
Yall remember that sci-fi movie called yeti lol

What's the movie name ?
Society of the Snow (2023)
The 2 known survivors in the movie based on the disaster are Fernando Parrado and Roberto Canessa.
The one on the horse is Sergio Catalan, who died 90 years old in 2021.
He was 91 years old and died in 2020
😢
At least 88 planes have disappeared since 1948
After they returned the whole world pointed finger at them for eating human flesh. sad because they did everything they could to survie
The Pope John Paul II had to pardon them, so that people leave them alone
When people began questioning how they survived and the news of them eating human flesh came out people began calling them monsters if I’m correct?
Yeah, there was intense backlash then the survivors doubled down by saying they only ate the volunteers who gave their flesh and in comparison to the Eucharist where Jesus gave his flesh to eat and the Catholic priest said they weren't to be damned due to their extreme conditions then the backlash subsided.
Have a amazing day ❤🎉l

Where was Bear Grylls
🤣😭😂😁
Is this where they eat each other
Great channel but the same 4 bars of music hundreds of times over every video makes it pretty hard to watch
Saw this in Rick and Morty 😅
Recap maze runner please
This recap is not accurate 😤
Hmmmm fire? Nope not a thing in this world? Wtf
They did light a bit of fire to cook some of the meat, using the wood of some soda crates. Other than that only things they had for burning was their clothes, and it would have been very stupid to try and make a fire out of those.
@ailem2707 how about those seats huh? Oh and maybe paper, I'm pretty sure they had paper. It's not stupid it's survival.
@@bradynmagnuson-ql4gs the paper that they had was used to write letters and journals. Also, paper burns in seconds, it’s hardly useful to keep a fire going.
The seats had aluminum structures, which they used to melt snow and to cover the opening of the fuselage, the filling was used as isolation in the floor (otherwise they’d be in contact with freezing cold metal) and the cloths was sewn up into blankets and hats.
Is this a remake?
Edit: I remember watching a similar movie from the 90s.
Not really, this new movie is based on a book from a Uruguayan writer that interviewed for years each of the survivors and write and rewrite every detail, the book has the same name of the movie “La Sociedad de la Nieve”…in this new movie you can see 2 cameos with the original guys in the plane
@@josemariavideos thanks
older movie is "Alive" both based off the same event
This is why dont fly in the troposphere ☠️🤦♂️
If I die and yall stranded without food. By all means eat me. I’m going to assume I have yalls. Survival situations change the rules of right and wrong. Doubtful gods going to be all that upset the spirit and soul is gone. Nothing but meat after that
Is this just a remake of the movie Alive?
Is not a remake. Alive is mostly fake this is as accurate as it could be

With what happened with the airplane went on flame in Japan and Boeing airplane 737 windows broke, this is not that far off from reality.
this movie is based on a true story
I wish you would tell the name of the movie.
its at the start
The first second of the video, "Society of the snow" 2023 I thnk there is another movie on the subject called alive
No shortage on cigarettes though?
There was a suitcase full of cigarettes from the airport. They even ate the cigarettes before they went on with the meat
What I learned from the many wonderful books written about this story, is that cigarettes were way more expensive in Chile than Uruguay at the time. This happened in 1972, so a lot of the people on the plane smoked.
Remake?

WHO INVENTED IT?

Very stupid comment
I remember watching this movie 2 or 3 times in my life and i know whole story. This is not how it ends! Wtf😮
Alive movie was not approved by the entirety of the survivors, this one is and they say its the accurate recount of the event.
If you watched the movie Alive, you don't actually know the whole story. It was based off a book written very quickly after the incident happened and has "no soul" as the survivors said. This movie is also based off a book, written much later on, by a man from the same place as the survivors and is way more accurate to the real story. If you want to know the whole story, you should read some of the books written about it. They are really amazing.
So this is a remake of the movie Alive....
No. It's another way to tell a true story. Both films are based on two different books about the same event.
