There are 3 levels of carvings:
Beginners Level - you will learn how to apply quick and simple designs to the different fruits and vegetables.
Intermediate Level - you will progress onto more detailed carving designs for larger centrepiece displays
Advanced Level - How to carve Roses and more flowers. After you master all these flowers - you can apply to larger Fruit & Vegetable such as Watermelon and Pumpkin.

Thai fruit carving knife "Kom Kom" - try ebay or amazon- you will need only one carving knife - the length of the blade approximately 2 inches that's the one I am using.
Have you watched my beginner's lesson videos? - that knife is very good as well !!
If you can carve a pumpkin with a pen knife - you can do thai carving :)

I am using a Thai carving knife - you will find it online - eBay - search for a bird's beak fruit carving knife thailand kom kom - they sell in a set of three yellow handle knives.

to prevent the carrot from changing colour - from my experience when teaching I found if anyone has warm hands the carrot tends to change the colour quicker - to prevent this happening I suggest dipping in cold tap water while carving. thanks :)

------1st carving knife - it calls thai fruit carving knife with a yellow plastic handle - Kom Kom brand. (the length of the blade approx. 2 inches)
----- 2nd carving knife - on my beginner's videos - you can buy it at the knife shop in your area.
Note : if you would like learn how to carve in my style - you will need only two carving knives - NO tools :) thanks

I would love to learn food carving and get myself a nice set of knives and tools. I do not have any tools at all, so if you have any great advice what else to get (or brands) I will research it. I haven't watch other tutorials but definately plan to do so. Your video just appeared while I was browsing for something else. I would love to show you my pumpkins. I carved my son in it.

Miss Mutita how quickly are you capable of maiking these i would like to see them on more plates, why do people not take more time to put such beautiful art on there plates?
I used to carve very quick for my demonstration.
Now I just take time to do it.

If you have a very small knife and comfortable to hold - that should be fine to use - try first !
then you can get a bird's beak knife / turning knife at any knife shop.
Or you can get a Thai fruit carving knife which is available on eBay.

Many lessons - you can carve them with a small kitchen knife. For more detail carvings I would suggest you to use a bird's beak knife or turning knife - it is available at any knife shop.
