I just found your videos & subscribed and then started watching your other videos! I almost cried laughing about your pink potato story & hubby's pink cricket uniform! It reminded me of when I dried my hubby's white dress shirts with my 5 yr old daughter's white hoody sweatshirt. She had crayons in her pockets & they melted on everything! We had little money then & panicked! I spent all day ironing out crayons onto paper towels!😊 looking forward to watching your videos!

Beautiful purses! The fabric fir the second one looks very William Morris. Haven't seen that pattern before.

PS You can always wax fabric to make it waterproof but then you wax after you've made it. I like the mini NCW - I just finished a leather one as my old one was falling apart! The full-size one is too big for me as I prefer small crossbody bags. I love my walking foot for my little Janome. I works really well when sewing knits too.

Kathy you have mentioned before about waxing the fabric and it's something I wouldn't know how to start but I know a lady who does. Chuckle

I really like these purses. My own thoughts are that the time I really enjoyed the bag I made was after I had sat down and listed all the things I would be needing. Then design the bag accordingly - loved it. I can relate to what you say about them not be quite right for you.
I’m hoping to make something in cork soon. Like you I never have been happy with that foot (name has gone lol) perhaps when it really is needed is when it helps. If I have problems I’ll get that foot out, thanks. Ah yes! Walking Foot.
    Enjoying your channel.

The perfect purse that I love was a German pattern but even that needs some changes. Perhaps one day I might just sit down and design a pattern myself. But then I might get it finished and think "it still needs that something else" Chuckle x

@@michoumakes hahahah, design your own, make it just perfect for everything you need, then your quest is over, and nothing to strive for. roflol. your right, it will need just that "one" tiny tiny new detail, its just missing a wee bit, hahahahah

@@michoumakes More the merrier, if you have ever been to Canada, and in particular the Prairie provinces and keep going west, nothing but wide open land, forests forever and a day, Mountains Streams, its the most beautiful land around. However, It takes me three hours to drive to the only fabric store in my area, and three hours to drive home. Not something you can just run to the store quicklike for roflol. But the drive is pretty!

This pretty wallet, needs one more clear panel on the back, to fit the cell phone, and a lovely strap would be perfect!

    • @michoumakes

Now that could be a possible hack. I know what you mean because it's not easy fumbling for a ringing phone inside the purse. 👍❤

@@michoumakes And if it is a clear panel, you may just be able to text without taking it from the pocket as well. How was the clear vinyl pieces to sew with? My machine had a fit sewing that plasticized fabric PUL I had to pull out my walking foot and a denim needle lol

I did order similar dragonfly closures. Adorable. Also I ordered your pattern. Did you ever find the perfect wallet?

I really like the cork fabric one couldn't really see much of anything so I wanted to ask did you also have a zip in the cork one? I wonder why she can't just have a link to the video after you buy the pattern rather than having to join a FB group I am not a big fan of it and would rather not but I would like to watch the video if I had a problem. Oh well thanks for the review and the link.

I know what you mean Angela. I did wonder why she hadn't put it up on you tube since I must confess that perhaps it's my age but I keep losing them on Facebook and spend forever looking for where they are. I'm gradually learning that I need to save it and then it will always be there for me to watch. I will mention that to her.
Oh and yes I had a zip in the top. It was a bit harder to sew but I achieved it.👍😍

Im debating on whether or not to purchase this pattern or just make another NCW. this one looks easier but I have a question - you used cork.........and fabric. since most likely you didn't 'turn' your cork - how did you use the two of them together?
I just received my order of 4 of the 'bee' clasps.

How did I miss thei message? So sorry. I do like the Marilyn wallet but my favourite is the Portmoney purse by Wittsich. The only problem is it's in German. I've made about 12 of them and given them as gifts and everyone who has received them has remarked how good (useful) they are. They are similar to the NCW but in my opinions much more practical. I did do a sewalong for it and explain how to download the pattern. xxx

Did you ever find a wallet that ticked all the boxes? I too am looking for that pattern. What boxes do you have on your list?

    • @michoumakes
      @michoumakes  Před 3 lety +1

I did. I made one that I like and I made the same one for my daughter and Debbie who used to work for us. that was a couple of years ago and funnily enough they both thought it was the best purse they'd ever had.
They're both requested that I make another one for them so I'm hoping to do it in the next month. It's a German purse and hopefully I will be able to make a vlog about it. 👍
