    Beautiful! This is exactly the pattern I was looking for. I was thinking of using Kraft Tex paper fabric, but I am really liking the way the cork fabric looks. Love the idea of using landscape fabric too - its a sturdy fabric that I never thought of using in sewing before! Thanks for a great video... off to buy the pattern now :-)

    It was awesome seeing you use landscaping fabric! I had the idea to use landscaping fabric in sewing projects a couple of years ago when I realized that it’s the same stuff that’s on the underside of couches and such. The technical name for it is polypropylene, and I want to mention that polypropylene doesn’t like heat. If you touch it with a lighter it’ll melt like cotton candy when it gets wet, haha.

    • @SewGnar
      @SewGnar  Před 2 lety

      I’ve been using it for about 5 years now! It’s so versatile! And I found out the hard way that it melts like that 🤣🥴

      Hi Patty, where did you purchase the pattern? Did you get the PDF or a paper pattern? The snap tab second piece comes later in the pattern when you cut out the ID box from the Card Panel. The Outer Body is a complete piece in the PDF pattern, and the printed pattern has an Outer Body side A and B, and they attach at those letter boxes, as explained in the first sentence of step 1. Please let me know if this makes sense...

    I'm a little late to this party but love how this wallet is coming together so far. In the video you attach the card slot panels to the lining, then attach the lining to the outer. In the pattern I have, it says to attach the lining to the outer first, then add the card slots to the lining. Does it make a difference which sequence you use or did you find after trial and error, one is better over the other? Also.. can a rectangle of quilting cotton be used as a coin pouch lining as to not cause wear and tear on the outer body backing? Thanks so much!! Great video..great pattern!!

    I rarely ever use checks and learned when I made an NCW and screwed up the back - I put a patch over the screw-up and found I use that patch all the time to quickly stuff cash or credit cards. what might you suggest as a way to make a couple of card slots on the outside back? I have the tall wallet pattern. haven't made it yet but hopefully this week. watching your other videos and may purchase one of your wallet patterns. I do have cork. thought I'd use scraps that I have to make something. just to see how it sews.

    Thank you for showing us this video. You did a wonderful job of explaining the process. Where would I purchase the black fabric that you were using for the card slots? Also, I'm concern about using the acto knife for making my card slots. How accurate would it be to use? Is there something else that a person could use? I can't afford the Brother Cut machine. I did purchase the pattern, but I am intimidated by cutting the card slots.

    • @SewGnar

      I got my black fabric at a garden store. For the card slot lines, you just need to cut them at the width shown on the pattern. If you can use scissors for that, go for it! I just found it easy to uses the Xacto knife which is why I put that in the instructions.

    I ordered some size 14 Schmitz Microtex needles for my Juki industrial machine. They came with one side a flat end and won't fit into my machine. Is there a special type of needle I need to order. If possible, if you can disclose where you purchase yours from.

      I get my needles from my LQS and from Fabric Funhouse. I’m not sure why they don’t fit, what machine are you using? Usually you have to swivel the needle around until the flat edge lays in the right spot, or at least that’s what I do!

    did you cut the slots with your S&C? I have a cricut maker. could I use that?
