    You should have mentioned that the Red Wing 1907's are built on a different last than the other Moc Toes. That's why they are a bit wider. I have a pair of the 1907's. I had the store replace the two upper sets of eyelets with speed laces and that helps quite a bit when putting them on and taking them off. Also, the original design of the RW Moc Toe was for sports people - primarily hunters. It's grown into a lifestyle boot for most owners, but it's a very popular work shoe for construction and for work where you don't need steel toes and you're walking or standing on hard surfaces all day long.

      Good suggestion. Probably should have mentioned, but since I wasn't comparing those aspects intra-RW, I don't even think I thought about it. Good info on the history too. Much appreciated.

      A bit more comfortable b/c more supple, but probably a bit less durable as well.

    Im on the Whites Perry about 2 weeks in. First I have the distressed brown and the leather is absolutely gorgeous, looks so much better in person than in pictures. For me its about the same fit as a red wing as well. Ive had no issues with the heel counter as commonly seen, but the top right foot has had rubbing with the tongue which Im solving with mole skin right now. I walk about 15 miles on a normal day of work, so its been much less punishing that I expected so far, likely due to getting lucky on the fit. With red wings Ive tried the 608s and they were much more punishing on my feet the first weeks, but they fit like a glove after break in . Soles only made it to 6 months on those and I dont have much more hope for these vibram cristy crepes on the Whites, but time will tell with that. At least it will be easier to just resole these Whites than with the Red wing Supersole's

    The 1907 is built on a different last and has a Norwegian welt, unlike all other 6" RW moc toe boots mentioned here. It fits differently than the other RW mocs too. It is a narrower fitting boot. I wear a 10.5 D in RW Heritage mocs, but the 1907 is much too narrow for me in that size. I didn't like the 1907 fit so didn't buy it. You'll also notice the 1907 is a few bucks more than the other RW 6" mocs, presumably because of the double-sewn welt.

    Hey....thanks for a spot about Red Wing! What a storied brand and your historical background is much appreciated. Red Wing as a store in Fairfax, VA not far from where I live. May have to go out and browse to see what's new as I haven't been there in about a year (bought a pair of boots of course). You're right about Danner. I'm a fan, but Red Wing is miles away and they know their audience.

    I wanted the 6" redwing classic mocktoe boots in that copper color so bad.
    Tryed them on and they were way way to tight for me, the redwing guy told us that they dont make different widths in the heritage line.. if they wernt so expensive i woulda tryed them to see if theyed stretch a good bit but that probably woulda been a bad idea..😅
    I ended up getting the thorogood equivalent in the same size 12d and like them alot sofar.
    ..I do still have 59 more days to test them out in the house.. we'll see how it goes (i have medical orothotics to deal with) makes shoes shopping complicated..

    The 1907 is a fake storm welt and that’s why I won’t touch them. I don’t like being deceived. Also the leather is thinner on the Red Wing and it lacks a proper shank. To me the Red Wing is a casual boot and the Perry is a real work boot that can be worn casually.

    • @rockymtnstyle
      @rockymtnstyle  Před 9 měsíci +1

      I have real waterproof boots when the time calls. I don't mind too much if one person's "storm" welt isn't stormy enough. Hah! :) Appreciate your perspective, though!

    • @395glen
      @395glen Před 9 měsíci +3

      @@rockymtnstylethe point he was trying to make is that it is deceiving. The 875 don’t have a storm welt just a regular Goodyear welt unlike this 1907 that is trying to be deceiving. The 1907 isn’t the classic Moc which is why it isn’t part of the color selection that you pulled up.

      I see where you're coming from, but I think it is forgivable because Red Wing does not make any outrageous claims are draw attention to the extra stitch. It's a decorative. It gives the 1907 a unique look...... I suppose you could argue that it's misleading, but I don't see it as deliberately deceitful.
      You make valid points. In my opinion, the whites are a higher quality boot, but the Red Wings are better looking and more stylish. Both are very nice and it's just a matter of taste

  • @waluigiinsmashbros
    @waluigiinsmashbros Před 3 měsíci +1

    My White's perry selects came with a big, stained blotch right in the middle of the toe box. They look horrendous. Quality control is garbage. Waiting 10 weeks for disappointment is guaranteed. They don't even bother entering a tracking number so hope for the best. Go with the Red Wings

    I really want to love my 1907s, but my foot does not work with it. The Red Wing moc toes have too much instep for me. The eyelets are basically touching when I tighten the boot. The 8 last fits me much better.

      That's a great question and something I actually thought about after. MAYBE... that's as best as I can say. Hah! Although, since the video the Red Dog has grown on me and I really like it. But I think the Red Wings, for me, are still a little more comfortable so they'd still get the nod.

    I’ve eyed a pair of Perry’s for a while now. I was waiting for my Thorogoods to give out. But I went into the Red Wing store for soap, came out with boots. The rep took my measurements from the machine and hit the nail on the head. 1907’s with slim fit insoles. Looks like it’ll be another 6 years before I get the Whites. I’ll still be looking into some Perry’s but the fit of the 1907’s is immaculate and they’re not even broken in yet.

    • @rockymtnstyle
      @rockymtnstyle  Před 10 měsíci

      Good question. And honestly, they are about even. It's remarkable how similar feeling they are. The Whites conform a little better around the ankle, so maybe they are slightly more comfy while actively walking, but otherwise, they're so close to me it's a toss up. Although I have worn the Red Wings much more just because I've had them longer... so they are more broken in. Could be if the Whites end up getitng more comfy with time they might be better at the same number of wears, but that's just speculation.

    I have one pair of each of these - the 1907 is just a little wider than the Perry and fits me better (both are 8.5D). The Perry is in Crazy Cow leather, which looks great, but if I was limited to one, I would go with the 1907.

      Sure... But each type of leather still has an exclusive number designation. So it's just semantics. Even if it used the same last they'd have to call it something other than an 875 because that's Oro Legacy.

    Bought my first 2 pairs of casual boots a few weeks ago. I’m an electrician and wear Irish setters for work. Size 10 comfortable.
    With the red wing 8138 I went with a 9E2 since I have a narrow foot and they fit perfectly with insoles.
    Next boot was the red wing 1907 and I got the same size. A size 9E2 and they fit perfect with the insoles they come with. Again I have a really narrow foot so sizing down a whole size worked for me.
