How to Relax in Kauai

  • In the previous video ( • Backpacking Fail in Ha... ) Angie and I bailed out of a backpacking trip after realizing we didn't have a lighter to light our cooking stoves at the bottom of Waimea Canyon. Since we finished the hike at night at night and many of Kauai's local businesses shut down very early we had limited choices for hotels and all of them were expensive. We chose Sheraton Coconut Beach because it was the least expensive of our options, it turned out to be a great experience there and we paid an extra fee for a late check so we could enjoy the amenities and just rest our bodies after the difficult day before.
Our brief stop at Poipu Beach was fun too, we loved seeing the Monk Seals on the beach and the sunset was stunning. This side of the Island was much more expensive so we didn't stay there. I think I read Poipu beach has some of the calmest waves in the winter so more people would rather stay there in those months. Very few, if any hotels are cheap in Kauai though, so come prepared with plenty of money unless you plan on camping most of your stay.
Tip Top Hotel were we stayed our final night might be the cheapest hotel on the Island, it's bare bones but we found it clean enough for one night before going back to the airport, I wouldn't plan my entire trip in there though. They have a cafe there that I've heard is very good, but unfortunately we didn't get to try it.
    Thanks for watching!
