Bro this the key-finding tip is great, that's been one of the major drawbacks is that I can't use other software inside the mpc to find the key, I'm sure most everyone coming here is finding that useful. I had to actually try it for myself before I came back here to give you the thumbs up and say thank you! It works and its great to stay inside the MPC and keep working.

What's the best way to do 808 rolls while still keeping them perfectly in key with the rest of the beat?
The original 808 I have is in key, but as soon as I go up and down the scale it's obviously NOT in key.
Basically wanting an 808 to start on the root note, go up a few notes, then come back down to the
root again. Maybe I need to just bust out my damn midi keyboard and connect it to the MPC X. I'd
rather not have to though if there's an easier way than randomly clicking pads and hoping the best.
I don't understand why there's no "PAD PERFORMANCE" mode for drums. I specifically NEED IT for
the 808 drum! I don't need it for snares, claps, hi hats, or kicks.. just for my 808s because I love to
use my 808's as an instrument, rather than always just being a bass drum. Can 808's be loaded as
key groups so I can use the PAD PERFORM?

    • @labandlegacy
      @labandlegacy  Před 5 měsíci

I really wish they'd just add a tuner to the MPC X. It's mind boggling they haven't. I'm still happy you shared this tutorial with us, but it's crazy
to have to take all of these steps just to find the key when finding the key is super basic to music production. It's like selling brand new cars
that don't have doors and me finding this tutorial is the equivalence of finding a tutorial on how I can install windows and doors on my own
but it still leaves me sitting here like.. WHY THE FUCK DOES THE CAR NOT HAVE WINDOWS AND DOORS ALREADY IN THE FIRST PLACE?!

There is a tuner bro. It's been in there for about a year and a half. There's one in program edit screen, the sample edit screen, and the sampling screen. It's a little tuning fork icon. You can also put the auto-tune style plugin on any pad or program to get the tuning info

No fucking way!? I need to update my MPC X then! I took about a 2 year break from my MPC X and have been mostly only producing in FL Studio.
I did this because I've had my X since release and there were so many features I wanted that just WERE NOT available for the MPC X so I decided to
throw it under the hard cover and leave it be for awhile knowing they'd eventually throw updates at it that would get me excited to get back into it!
Last time I did an update on my MPC was literally in 2020 hahahaha BRO THANKS! Is it super easy to use and doesn't require the million steps that
this video takes? Much love @@labandlegacy

Connecting my MPC X as fast as I can.. excited like a child on Christmas morning! Can the tuner be used in standalone mode? Hopefully! I don't care for using the DAW. I always felt like if I'm going to be in a DAW, it may as well be FL Studio where I feel right at home! @@labandlegacy

Good technique, but ya gotta have the ear for it! Still think MPC should have a mf key finder.

It's really not that hard to find a key of any sample when you got a ear for music like i do, otherwise training your ears will help a lot to recognize the key of a sample, it's really not that hard.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll check my render settings. I could be on the wrong framerates, plus I'm capturing to OBS so it could be a setting there as well.
