Great ultrabook for productivity, its intended purpose. And the benefit of a convertible is that you can put it in tent mode elevated on something, combined with just an external keyboard resulting in proper ergonomics for which your neck and back will thank you later. I wished all laptops were convertible for that purpose alone

I have one of the older models before they went with all thin bezels. 2017-2018 model I believe. And even after being dropped it still works today. I can't get rid of it because it just works and is like my emergency back up machine at this point. So these things are build to last. No issues with bad speakers or anything of the sort. Only issue I had with it is the touch screen would bug out as it you were touching it and start flickering. Touching the screen stopped it. Alarming for sure, but clearly not game breaking.
HP really impresses me overall. They seem to want to make a good product and give you value. They make good software for all their machines that has features most people would want and they don't charge extra for things like stylus like everyone else does. Once thunderbolt makes a good leap in performance that I can just use an eGPU for my gaming needs I can see myself buying another laptop like this and making it my main computer. HP also feels like it has one of the best keyboards for a small machine. I really hope they keep this up.

I have one of the older spectres and I've been using it for work for several years. Based on your review, this would be an excellent update for my machine. Best use cases for the machine for me are: coding (excellent keyboard and screen), office (everything except very large and complicated Excels), presentations (full size hdmi port and nice screen when no projector around). Mine is definitely no gaming device though (I used an egpu for a while) and my cpu is now outdated (2 core U-version) and the webcam is not good enough. It still feels very snappy in almost all use cases due to very fast m.2 and enough RAM and it's a machine I can take to any meeting even on exec/board level. This new machine is just better on most of these same things so I see a plenty of use cases for it for certain types of professionals.

I've owned this laptop since November 2021 and one word I would use to describe it. Wow. The amount of compliments I have gotten with this laptop in comparison to everyone else's MacBook air has been great.
As you said in the conclusion, this is definitely a beautiful laptop kept in the backroom of a jewelry shop. The Gold accents really make this laptop stand out in a classy expensive way.
Since my HP envy x360 motherboard decided to kill itself just out of warranty I was forced to look for another laptop as fixing was not worth the cost. Got the Spectre as i am already well aware of HP laptops.
Display. Got the 400 nit 1080p model for the battery life (which is great) but I do wish the screen was a little brighter.
The keyboard is probably one of the best ones I've used and the trackpad is fine but not as good as a MacBook ofc. Speakers are very clear and loud but extra bass wouldn't go amiss.
Ports are great. 2x thunderbolt 4 and a regular USB. This has saved me so many times.
Camera and Mic quality is pretty awful i cant lie. Just use your phone or iPad.
The i5 is perfect for everyday tasks and even can handle light to medium games. Personally i didnt go for the i7 due to the thermals of the computer but i do wish i went for 16gb ram as I am quite the power user and can feel the slow down after having lots of applications open.
Only major annoyance is the cooling of the laptop. The fans always come on when doing medium tasks, especially when charging the laptop but it's no different from my hp envy x360 which always used to run hot too.
Overall, I would 95% recommend this laptop to most people. Especially the 2-1 touchscreen capabilities which most other laptops don't have which is always a good party trick. Get the OLED model if you want a lot of movies, and videos, 16GB ram if you are a power user.

Gorgeous cinematography and well done review as a whole! There is room for improvement like being consistent with your shots (while you were testing the speakers, the shot from that part felt a bit different from the rest and of low quality). Background music was on point, info wise there was plenty of it to make a purchasing decision and you kept the info at a moderate level, not too much or too little! keep up the great work!

Well, there's the minor issue of missing "Insert" key (not to mention "Scroll Lock", "PrtScr" and "Pause"). Instead we have hardware-bloadware "HP Command Center" button. Also - the 1000 nits privacy screen is so private you can't even read an e-book on it, because if you move a few degrees away from perpendicular to screen center you will see edges go dark. And that's with "privacy button" off! If you go for OLED - remember there's the burn-in problem. You Windows taskbar will probably stay there for good after some time. Also - if you choose the silver chassis - the keyboard signs are dark grey on light grey. Barely visible. But I did not send it back. The OLED screen is so beautiful, 3:2 is so convenient, and the bastard is so light and handy!

The 13 inch model is much more ergonomic in tablet mode, and the 14 inch model lacks a side-mounted power button--so good luck if it suddenly freezes in tablet mode; the keyboard turns off.
Last-gen spectre keyboards also start creaking after substantial use (WASD keys beware!), so an external keyboard should be considered.
Ultimately, reliability has proven to be key and that is the defining characteristic of enterprise-grade machinery. Buy a similarly-priced gaming laptop and you'll find generic China imprinted all over its innards. I've been using a 2018 spectre 15, and the damn thing works so well that I haven't even bothered updating its bios and windows version since purchase.

Do the fans stay quiet or do they randomly ramp up a bit?

I don’t recall them being a nuisance and ramping up and down during normal use actually.

@@BobOfAllTrades i would never buy hi-fi without listening to it in a demo room, i would not buy on basis of a youtube video with a pc or laptop with a £2 dac chip, you have to be there as listening to a video is not the same as being there. The same applies for anyone doing a video demonstrating sound. I am on a laptop using blutooth to good quality pc speakers. If i listened on my phone, my main pc etc it would sound different so it wont give me a reflection of the actual sound..... you have to be in the same room as the product
