My 1st childhood treasure--- In 1969, my parents bought me a TWO-Speed (kick-back) Schwinn Sting Ray Deluxe for my 12th birthday from RUDY'S BIKE SHOP in Chicago. I wanted the 5-Speed Stick-shift, but my dad did not trust BOTH brakes to be caliper. It was "Campus Green", and I owned/maintained it - then hung it up in my man-cave wall - until I sold it for $300 in 2013. What % of men actually keep a near-pristine childhood bike for 45 years?? Speaks highly of Schwinn design & craftsmanship!
Cool! My 67 year old brother still has the Apple Krate my dad gave him in the late 1960s. Same sentiment…. meant so much to him as a kid he has never wanted to part with it.
I'm so surprised that this channel doesn't get a lot more views. It's just as good as Recollection Road!
Recollection Road is awesome, so we take this as a great compliment! Thanks for watching and for your support!
This channel is newer. I'm convinced both channels are by the same person. The voices sound very similar, just a slightly different pitch due to the magic of mixers / software. Both channels use same background music. While both channels cover the same topics (Montgomery Ward for example), the videos have unique information, so it's worth watching the vids on each channel. I'm subbed to both channels and enjoy everything posted. 😀
@@J_Calvin_Hobbes it's possible my friend
In 1982 Mom and Dad bought me a Schwinn Thrasher. I still have that bike. Dad had several Schwinns and said they were the best bikes that money could buy. I put o ton of miles on that bike and it never once let me down. Thanks Mom, Dad, and Schwinn.
I loved my blue and chrome Schwinn Debbie bike that Santa brought when I was 8 years old.
Both of my parents worked for Schwinn.
In 1969 I received a Schwinn 5-speed "grey ghost" stingray with its banana seat. It looked just like the "lemon peeler" bike in the Captain Kangaroo photo in this video, albeit grey and not yellow.
My eight-year old self thought I was the coolest person ever on wheels and all the neighborhood kids were envious. That bike at the time was my most treasured possession. Thanks for this video and the memories you help my re-capture.
Wow! That was truly a RARE piece, Scott! Like you, I rec'd a "Campus Green" Sting Ray for my 12th birthday in Chicago. Kept it shiney & presentable for 45 years before selling it for $300.
Had a yellow Schwinn Varsity as a teen. Oh, the miles I pedaled that thing!
I had three different Schwinn bikes. My Vanity Fair, Varsity, and Continental.
Wow excellent video
I am still riding Schwinn. I have a Boundary I use for trails and bike packing. I got to see a little Schwinn love at the end of Ford vs. Ferrari it was in the scene Shelby was giving the speech about the usefulness of a wrench to Miles son. Love that movie.
I remember as a boy in the 80's all boys wanted either a Schwinn or a Mongoose bicycle depending on whether you wanted to race a 10 speed (Schwinn) or dirt bike (Mongoose). What a time. BMX was also a popular brand.
I lov Schwinn God Bless you and your ancestors
Mongoose and redline’s were stronger and lighter
Thank you, Yumi Yogurt. 1985.😊
Good Job! Memory Mountain!

Had a Orange Krate 5 speed FOR XMAS! MY LITTLE_BROTHER let it get stolen i miss it still
Schwinn to America is what Raleigh was to Britain.
Cool video. Just picked up a 1975 Collegiate and was looking for some Shwinn history. Found it here. Well done.
Richard made his own company call Waterford Bikes, which he recently closed down.
I have saved my 1959 20" Schwinn Tornado! Loved that bike. I heard they are all Chinese made now.
Changing worn pedals
Hi there I have a Schwinn Corvette that has been converted to a cruiser, I need to find out what year it was manufactured ?
