    Kia Cadenza needs to be added to the list. I'm definitely experiencing the connecting rod failure in my 2015. Even though the cars in the US sold just under 50k from 2014-2021, it shares the exact same 3.3L as the sorrento but kia can't seem to own their faults. I can't even find a used motor with a 100k for less than 5k. It's crazy agate they're getting away with. So now I'm just out a car but still have to foot the bill on my new lawn ornament 😥

    • @WrenchingRyan
      @WrenchingRyan  Před rokem

      I’m sorry to hear that, it is impossible to find used KIA engine since they released the service campaign few years ago, most Kia vehicle have 10 yrs 100k miles warranty and yours is just under 50k so factory warranty should take care of you. good luck.

    • @chadg8432
      @chadg8432 Před rokem

      I only wish it was covered but it's got over 100k but I was saying everywhere I've looked for a used engine they're charging anywhere between 5 thousand up to almost 8 thousand on a motor that will likely do the same thing. I did find a completely remanufactured one online through JEGS for less than 6 so if I happen to experience any type of miracle where I can come up with the funds, I'll go that route since it would have no kia parts for internals. Then I'd have an actual good motor. Do you know or anybody know if the motors that kia is manufacturing for the replacements have different bearings at least? Maybe in the spring I can find a place where I can pull the motor myself and see if I'm able to access and replace the bearings myself through the bottom end because I'm not about to do a complete tear down with the cams, timing, and heads. Car still runs great as I stopped driving it the day I heard it knock at startup so I'm hoping the damage inside isn't terrible. But on the other hand, I have no way of telling how much more metal shavings are still floating around in there. I found quite a bit before it started to knock while changing the oil but within 2 weeks it started playing that sad Kia music telling me it wanted to let a rod get out for some fresh air.

    Nice video. My 2017 certified pre-owned Sorento suddenly lost all acceleration on the highway in the middle of no-where. We had to be towed 115 miles to the nearest Kia dealer and then found out that the engine will be replaced. Thankfully, there was no fire and we were able to coast downhill into an obscure turn-around exit and pull into the shoulder safely. It was very troubling and there was absolutely no warning. The car barely hit 47,000 miles and had every appointment with recommended oil changes and service. I hope someone with your skills will be working on it. I've only owned the car for a little over 3 years and frankly, just the regularly scheduled maintenance has been pricey. I've also had issues with the air conditioner and have incurred high costs to address it. Do you have any "after-care" recommendations for consumers to be aware of or watch for?
    Meanwhile, I have an old 1998 Camry that has over 200K on it and has never, ever once stalled or left me stranded, so I let my children take it with them to their college each school year.
