It's been many decades, when Shankaracharya has written Vedic mathematics, published journals, used temple funds to train students in Sanskrit literature, Vedic studies, rituals when did you hear. I know a rogue Shankaracharya, who went openly critical of CM Yogi because the rogue Atiq is dead, He openly campaigned for Congress, He addresses India's elected PM & CM of UP with only Modi intentionally with no prefixes, Critical of Varanasi Corridor. There is another one who murdered a Brahmin Accountant, caught on recording & let go only because the victims did not pursue. Point is Adi Shankaracharya did not put stringent scholarly conditions & unfortunately allowed the will of the Shankaracharya for next Shankaracharya so today the Minimum conditions like Well versed in Sanskrit & Brahmin are two main conditions. Also please note: Adi Shankaracharya Peeths come under Smartha Brahmin sect. If you know, they don't stand a chance on Vaishnavites temple nor Shivites temple ..I know as I belong to the Smartha Sect of Adi Shankaracharya. We need reforms soon to weed out bad
