Perfect video, I have a 2003 Cadillac Escalade and I did all my interior lights in under 5 mins in the parts store parking lot! To get mine out easy I used one of those twist ties from the produce section at the grocery store and it popped those first lights you did quick and effectively 🙏🏼
In his defense, this is a 3 wire console. He looks like a big dude. The lights are ON by default with the door open and probably doesn’t want to be jammed in there with the door closed. Unless he closes the door, the lights are ON regardless of the switch position on the console.
Most LED bulbs requires 12V. WHen you're inside with the car on, the car dims those lights which falls below the LED's threshold voltage and they don't light up properly like the traditional bulbs.
Probably too late but that's because you need a bigger fuse. Like if you're on 7 use a 10. It happened to me a few times and that always fixed my interior light problems.
Hello there! I have a 2004 gmc sierra 1500 crew cab 4 door and one of the dome light buttons (black button) is stripped/broken/won't allow me to turn/push the light on. Any suggestions other than replacing the entire dome light housing unit?
The black button on the left side of mine broke or something but I can’t seem to find any video to replace the whole console I guess cause I can’t seem to find a solution any help would be appreciated.
Milk button, you press when you want some milk 🤷😂 naww man, I think that might be the microphone for the OnStar system. I don't know of any magic buttons up there...
Here’s the deal. There’s two versions of that console. One is two wire. One is three wire. The two wire doesn’t come on with the lights. The three wire does via a set of diodes in the console. You need a 3 wire console and harness from a truck that has it. You can easily fish the wire out from the pillar cover and dash side cover. You can add a wire, but you’ll also need to connect it to the console 3 wire so that would take some rewiring.
I need to change my dome light without tearin up my truck cab ceiling 2000 chevy silverado. Help anyone? I'm looking for a yt vid on that. Not the maplights. I will keep this vid hopefully available.
I did this and now the dome lights for the ceiling don’t come on when I open the doors/turn off ignition. They can be tuned on with the button. Lights on the door work as well. Suggestions?
Same here. When I turn the map light on with the button by the light the light is less bright then when the door is open or the light is turned on with the dimmer wheel, I assume it's because the resistance is lower with the led bulbs. Just like if you change blinkers to leds, you need to add a resister in most cases or itll blink fast like the bulbs burnt out. Wondering if that's the same thing here. 🤷
I did this but my map lights only work when the doors open or I turn the roll up dial to turn on all interior lights. If I push the buttons for the individual map lights, they do not come on, just slightly flicker. Works fine with the old bulbs. I reversed them to rule out a polarity problem. Anyone else have this problem?

Spark plug wire cable puller pliers work great for removing those little light bulbs, especially when hot
Same on my truck. I never turned them lights on since I bought the truck new. Just tried them now for the first time , yep they work 👍
these come on as part of the interior light but they were so dim you couldn't see much

Hey bro how can i make my dome lights turn on automatically Everytime I open the door, I have a 2002 Chevy Tahoe
Check the piece on the left side next to the wheel and flip it to auto try that
Dome overide button😂
@@garrisonpierce7243 I already did that and it doesn't work. I already put LEDs and it only turns on manually not with the doors
@@hubcitytony2734 ever fix? I have same issue
@@E21091 two versions of this console. You need a 3 wire and correct harness.
A bub
Did you have to use resistors?
nope
I didn't use resistors and when the truck is off you can faintly see the glow of the bulbs. I think that may be the culprit of my parasitic drain
Thanks for making this video!
Do you know what the black button to the left of the map light console is? It's visible in your video. Thanks

I believe I would just drill that reflector piece out.
I believe you
Philips makes a 194 bulb that's the same size as the factory bulb
will these bulbs fit on the 01 2500hd interior ?
Same exact truck so yes
Can u set those first lights to turn on when u open door?...and also I cold fit the reflector black in ..I just put blue led lights

It has to do with the reflector plate and it blew your fuse, do your reverse lights come on?
@@trekhard5957 it has to do with you reflective cover and do you reverse lights come on?
Two different versions of the console. You have a two wire. You need a 3 wire with diodes and the wiring harness from a 3 wire truck.
What is the black piece on the side of the map housing
That is a microphone for OnStar. You can rewire it for making phone calls if you have an aftermarket stereo head unit
