A little bit about things I do, etc
1998 ford ranger 3.0 farm truck, high idle, not a conventional fix, but if it works...
Smoke tested with smoke machine and found no vacuum leaks, I lost the footage of that. Engine still pulling to much air with throttle body completely closed. Changed pcv valve with no change. I slapped in a Used Computer with no change. Engine was swapped from something else that I do not know the make or model and if their was a difference in throttle body's from different years. So this is the repair I decided to make and so far it seems to be working ok. It could be a MAF or TP Sensor contributing to the issue also, but I didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars on parts swapping sensors on an old farm truck, because they do seem to be working according to the scan tool.

I've done the same thing spending to many hours to save $150 to $200 ...But when it's your job it is still a savings though.
If you have a Volvo truck, don't take it to a mechanic when it breaks, take it to an exorcist.
You always save the day
Man my damn volvo is doing this but my turns off and batteries light comes on I think is the damn ecu cable but ama check the fuse too and the cable of the fuse
I would put a tube in that tire, it prevents the bead from popping off and holds air better.
I use my stabilizers.
Im working on intermittent ac function. Do these have a low pressure switch on the evaporater? Thank you
I believe it has one somewhere although I don't recall. This was several yrs ago, I done that job for a friend. He no longer even has the tractor. He had so many problems with it he traded it in for a green one.
The pulse start lamps require an external igniter to produce 5kv whereas the probe start lamps have the starting equipment self contained in the lamp. Open circuit voltage of a probe start ballast is about 310vac. This is why the pulse start lamp didn’t reignite.
Hi Chase , this is my busy time of the year and haven’t got to watch any of your videos. Well you back to the 15w- 40 in the winter ?
Probably not, this engine has got some wear and I ran Lucas in the Winter with no issues and I'm thinking the thickness is similar to Lucas and 15-40 so I'm thinking it should be ok since it rarely gets below 20-25 degrees.
I Removed oem all foot pedal on my 6610 never used.
That really dont run that bad, sounds good!!
Excellent troubleshooting.
THESE TRUCKS ARE FRICKEN JUNK!! OUT OF 2 YEARS OF OWNING IT IT HAS RAN MAYBE 6 MONTHS . FUEL SYSTEM HAS ABOUT 18 O RINGS THAT CONSTANTLY NEED RPLACED. ONCE YOU FIX ONE LEAK ANOTHER ONE POPS UP . LIKE OTHERS I HAVE REPLACED EVERY SENSOR 3X'S AT LEAST AS WELL AS EVERY ORING . THE INJECTORS ARE SO EXPENSIVE MOST OF US CANT AFFORD NEW ONES SO WE TRY AND FIX THE OLD ONES . WHAT A NIGHT MARE. .004 .005 .003 .002 ON AND ON WITH DIFFERENT SHIM SPACING VALUES. SPECIAL ORDER LOC TITE IS REQUIRED ON SOME FASETENERS AND NOT OTHERS. CHINESE PARTS ARE AFFORDABLE BUT USUALLY DONT WORK. YOUR TALKING $40 VS WITCHCRAFT I MEAN MOTORCRAFT $800 FOR WHAT LOOKS LIKE THE EXACT SAME PART. THERE ARE CERTAIN PROCEDOURES THAT HAVE TO BE FOLLOWED EXACTLY OR WONT WORK . i HAVE SPENT OVER $500 IN ORINGS CUS EVERY TIME YOU REMOVE INJECTOR YOU HAVE TO REPLACE WITH NEW FORD ORINGS OR THEY WONT WORK . SUCH A PIECE OF CRAP! MY DODGE CUMMINS RARELY BROKE DOWN ON ME AND WHEN I DID I WAS ABLE TO FIX IT MY SELF QUICKLY AND VERY AFFORDABLE DO TO SO. i EVEN REBUILT MY NV4500 TRANSMISSION WITH EASE AND WAS ACTUALLY FUN. I AM SELF EMPLOYED OR AT LEAST WAS SELF EMPLOYED AS I NEED MY TRUCK TO GO TO WORK AND HAVE JUST ABOUT LOST ALL MY REGUALR CUSTOMERS BECAUSE OF THIS FRICKEN POS TRUCK! I WILL NEVER BY FORD EVER AGAIN . OVER 5K SPENT AND TRUCK STILL NOT RUYNNING. i OWE FINANCE COMPANY ONLY A FEW THOUSAND AND THEY WANT ME TO SURRENDER THE TRUCK TO THEM. AT THIS POINT THIS MIGHT BE THE CHEAPEST WAT TO FIX THIS TRUCK! F*CK FORD! TRUST ME STEER CLEAR OF THESE TRUCKS THEY ARE WORTHLESS MONEY PITS . BUY DODGE CUMMINS STRAIGHT SIMPLE 6 CYLINDER MOTOR THAT HAS WAY MORE POWER AND WONT BREAK DOWN ON YOU ONCE A MONTH . IF YOU DO BUY FORD MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AAA. I DONT EVEN KNOW HOW MUCH I HAVE SPENT ON TOW TRUCKS BUY IT IS ALOT !

That was great, thanks.
Everyones level of patience is so much better than mine lol. This is the 4th one ive watched this morning and no yelling or anything i have going on in my driveway right now

Do you know what fuse is for the fuel pump please?
No idea, that was a long time ago and it was not my tractor.

HOWS the trans holding up in 18 wheeler ?
So far so good 👍
I've been wondering what happens with longer oil change intervals. Lots of people say it's a bad idea... but nobody ever measures what happens. Congratulations , Chase, on doing a test to measure the effects. Seems that most manufacturer suggested oil change intervals aren't all that unreasonable even if they appear a bit long? :-)
I was curious also and couldn't find any videos of anyone testing it
One thing I notice is that the wear is not averaged over the distance travelled e.g ppm/1000 km which may mislead you into thinking that wear has increased when it hasn't (total wear is up but averaged wear is not). The idea is to figure out at what stage the wear starts to accelerate if the oil is not changed... and make sure you change the oil before that happens.
Wear analysis is the best way to identify which oils and additives work. The proof is often compelling. ...but very few people run enough analyses to figure out what works and what doesn't e.g. Synthetic oils are much better than miineral oils... with semi-synthetic being a good second best. :-)
Adding zinc to oil can actually increase wear if you add too much. Most additives do very little to reduce wear... but you'll never notice unless you do a before and after test. Ideally what you want in an additive is something that only needs a single application... and results in a 50~90% wear reduction. :-)
Damn this video is a life saver the simple knowledge of knowing the regulators are the same thread between Acetylene and propane is good knowledge I just started getting into brazing I have smaller propane bottles that I fill with my 20lb tank but knowing I can use a Oxy Acetylene setup for propane and just switch tips and upgrading to T rated hoses
I'm not sure you can braze with propane because you can't use a brazing tip with propane I don't believe. I don't braze so it works great for me for cutting and heating. It does use more oxygen than with acetylene but uses very little propane.
Is the Ranger project complete?
Nope, I got it where I could move it out of the way under it's own power though.
@@LifeWithChase Progress, nice.
That older rating prolly has tons of zinc/phosphorus. Ash galore good for non dpf trucks
Mine has a key way in the top bushing the bushing looks good but it’s tighter than tight coming out. I’m worried I’m tearing up something but it’s gotta come out. I couldn’t see any key ways on yours. Mine is a 6610 Just keep hammering driving spindle down out the bottom??
Sorry this has been a while ago and I really don't remember what All I did but I remember it being a pain in the rear!
It's actually an 1/8 of an inch towards the crown when I worked at a trailer repair shop when I did alignments. I'm trying to align my camper and looking for ideas if you have any.
My 3/4 Earth Quake from Harbor Freight may be a bit stronger than that particular impact. As some has suggested, maybe something is wrong with the impact or battery. I know my Earth Quake is stronger with certain batteries. Great video, though. I think it would be a great idea to have one in the side box of the truck.
I switched to Milwaukee and it works much better but I think DeWalt makes one better now also.
Mine has been leaking 2 gal per oil change for a few years now
Thanks for making this video I have been dealing with the same issue for a week now this helped me. I had the same issue the o ring gone on my spool too
Must be common on these, few other comments said they had same issue. I couldn't find any info on it when I searched, and I scratched my head for a while figuring it out 🤣
starting a video by asking a question to people who cant reply??? what sort of response do you expect??
Why can't they reply? Looks like you figured out how. 🤔
I put the outdoor cats on a feeding schedule. Put fresh food and water out at first light. Keep it out all day, remove a few hours after dusk before the coons show up. The cats have figured out the schedule and the coons don't seem to be around as much.
good job !
Wow! I have that tool, and I've done several of these over the years but I have never seen them come out like this! Maybe it's where I live? But for me, I've even had to burn them out before. I wished I was so lucky lol
how do those hoses handle the amount of psi from the ac system
what monitor is that for your temps? looking for a simple small one like this and all ones i find are around $450
That will make you a cool little truck to bang around in. The easiest way that I have found to check the toe in is to put a piece of tape on each tire in the same spot and mark it. Then measure that and roll the truck forward to bring the tape to the front and measure that. Then just see the difference of the measurements and you have your toe in or out. Good luck with it.
Man i really appreciate this video, wow! That was a good one.
More fun times in trucking 😂
great video thans for sharing
Only need one plate? Not two?
My first vehicle was a single cab Ranger reliable as all hell but good god was it scary on wet roads. Let an ex friend of mine drive it and he lost control trying to fool around and we slammed into a tree going about 30. You could take a full step into where the hood used to be. Had a riding mower in the bed that came a couple feet up into the cab. That little 3.0 was still running too, after collecting myself I had to walk back and turn it off. A scrapper got it and I believe the motor actually went into another Ranger.
I had a few old rangers in my teen's.
07 2500 is only rated for 12,000lbs on a 2wd 😂 I would say tranny was hot @ 20,000lbs.
The 6speed manual trucks weren't rated any higher but would do it with ease. Dodge was a little behind the times on their auto transmissions
Man. I hate you had to deal with all that.
fun times!
35K NON TURBO SIDE BY SIDE ,Eric O from south main auto did kinda of the same thing, bought a wk1 jeep uses that for the farm and trails ,
Cool, yeah the cab sxs is so big and expensive you might as well buy a truck.
Cool little project.
I got this Heather almost 2 years ago but since day one never works right you never can count on it to work its worse machine I ever bought don't waste your money and time.
Good video. I set my 2864 up through the one key app. I set it up for 550, 950, 1350, and 1750 RPM and disabled that bolt removal mode completely. I find the bolt removal mode pointless when you have a variable speed trigger. Great tool, but I don’t like the factory settings.
Love his face using that grinder. LOL! 😂
