Well he does play 7 games a week and puts at least 100 hours into each of them so he should know
He has a sexy voice too so I trust him.

As a lover of JRPGs, Yakuza games, and Yakuza 7, this is my most anticipated game of the year. I spent over 150 hours in Y7 and this looks like it'll take up even more of my time. Ichiban is such a good protagonist, and I can't wait to see how Kiryu's story ends. (if it does end)
Totally agree with you bro. LOVED Y7. LOVED GAIDEN and CANNOT WAIT 2 more days for this!!!!
Same this was my introduction and only Yakuza game I've ever played. The Turn based RPG elements were the deciding factor for me giving it a shot back in 2020.
I'm seriously considering taking a half day from work on Friday just so I can play earlier.
it’s actually tomorrow!! (Depending on your time zone) I live in Europe so it’ll be January 25th for me once the game arrives in Japan
@@djjjjj start with yakuza 0, it's the best game in the series in my opinion.
Ah yes, some straight up gameplay and your first impressions of the latest games releasing. Thanks again, Falcon!

This was already a game I was super hype for, but between this and the metacritic being an all time high for the series I am beyond excited to get my hands on this.
I love that Yakuza can completely transform from a goofy but dramatic soap opera beat 'em up, to a full on Dragon Quest parody now complete with a very similar "monster taming" mechanic that still has the same goofy but dramatic soap opera story. It's the one video game series that has made me cry with every new entry I play. They certainly know how to tug on the ol heartstrings. Ryu Go Gotoku Studio should get way more recognition than they do, while every game isn't perfect they clearly know what they're doing.
The ending of Yakuza 6 absolutely broke me into tears.
I have to agree, if you follow all the Yakuza games from 0 to Infinite Wealth then you are in for an absolutely amazing and surprisingly coherent, rollercoaster of emotions, storyline, with so many details carrying over from game to game just by looking at how the maps change. It is remarkable how RGG does it, but taking Yakuza across several places in the world is such a logical next step and they seem to be pulling it off so well.
I'm very excited how long they can carry a torch burning so bright, if not brighter and brighter for each game. I want nothing else but for Yakuza to continue become a greater reaching franchise, the longer it goes, and so far they are wide in that success.
Yeah this is a very rare series where these games can have seriously good drama that moves me to tears, while also being so stupid as hell in the best way, and hilarious af. They actually pull off going back and forth between hilarious and serious/hard hitting. So far this game ranks right up there with 7 and 0 for me personally.
I’ve literally never played a Yakuza game in my life but this review was so amazing, I’m going to buy this game.
You’ll never be the same bro lol and you’ll have a SHITLOAD of total games to back and play and get into including the Judgement/Lost Judgement games also!!
I'm thinking of doing the same when I see this on discount. Never played the series before but this review really intrigues me.
@@jordand8371 if you’re waiting for a discount, play 7 instead because you can probably get it real cheap.
Do yourself a favor and go play Yakuza: Like A Dragon before this one. Great start to the series if you don't want to actually start from the beginning (which, you should)
you gotta play "Like a Dragon" (aka Yakuza 7) first, this is a direct sequel to it
I played Persona 5 Royale (TWICE) followed by Yakuza: Like a Dragon just a few months ago, so getting this was a no-brainer, but I super appreciate you making the comparison to Persona 5. After having almost zero RPG experience beyond some of the Mario ones, these games quickly became some of my favorites of all-time (I played DQ11 right afterwards and loved it, too.)
Final fantasy series time for you bro
It is really annoying that NG+ is locked behind a more expensive version of the game. It is a downright scummy business decision and it needs to be called out. This is not something I want to see in future games. If this doesn't die here it's just gonna get worse
Agree 💯. You already pay $70 for a game and having to pay more to have it be replayable is just excessively greedy.
I’m guessing it’s because they assume most people are gonna buy Atleast the deluxe edition anyway. If we took NG+ out of the master vacation pack would it still be worth the extra $15 tho?
New game plus isn’t even worth playing these days
Gonna get worse definitely... I'm not sure even community backlash is enough this time around. I'm definitely gonna wait for sales, until the expensive version is available for lower than the base version. However long the wait be.
Why do give a fuck about playing a 100+ hour rpg multiple times? What is wrong with you people? Get a job man
Just finished Yakuza: Like a Dragon last night and I gotta say, one of the most fun games I've probably ever played, sure it's not perfect in every aspect, but the story sure is crazy.
Can't wait to continue my journey with Kasuga, what a great main character he is!
Which games perfect that game is a masterpiece for me
I owe it to gameranx for introducing me to this series about 3 years ago? They had Yakuza 0 on one of their lists and it looked interesting so i decided to try it out, i have now played every yakuza game since and judgment games and cant wait for this game. Thank you gameranx
Yep that's what happens...you play 0 then marathon all the games like a maniac. 5 was so long that I regretted pushing through the series with no breaks though
@ghintz2156 Yeah I adore the series but serious burnout can happen if you play all the games back to back because they are similar in alot of ways in terms of gameplay, mechanics, structure, but each game is unique and amazing in their own ways.
@@ghintz2156exactly what happened with me. I played 0-6 all in a row in July 2021. No breaks, day after day for the entire month was just YAKUZA. And I don't regret anything haha. I got soo fucking hooked, still am.
It is such a credit to a series to be so many sequels in and still keep things fresh and enjoyable. This series reallly flourishes in being able to change things up. Great video Falcon and team, as always.
Thanks for bringing new videos everyday . without Falcon and gameranx CZcams would be a boring place
I was a big fan of Yakuza 7, and am definitely going to buy this game... in a few months when it inevitably goes 50% off. Like most Sega games do. Too many games are coming out this year, and spending 70 dollars on all of them is bad money management.
Also the New Game+ being stuck behind a pay wall is a terrible precedent to let slide with the mentality of " yU nOt gunnA RE-PlaY GamE Cuz it 2 LooooNg" is brain dead stupid. This sets a terrible precedent that other game studios could absolutely adopt. Letting game companies get away with this kind of shit is obviously a problem no matter if you individually plan to use new game+ or not. The apologists in so may comment sections is concerning as well.
exactly. it's literally locking a staple game mechanic to the RPG genre behind a bs paywall.
games are always taking 1 step forward 2 steps back.
100% Agree with everything you said.
Also note, that it has a day-1 DLC for a large "bonus" dungeon among other things. Day 1 DLC is a scourge and should just stop being a thing. If the content is ready day 1, it should be included in the game, not sold as an addon.
Another reason to wait for price drop. If enough people do EXACTLY that, it should send some signals.
someone watches asmongold videos 😂
This game is phenomenal, I just can't stop playing. It's got every game in it too, Pokemon, Animal crossing, there's probably a 2D Mario game and FPS later down the line. It takes a little bit to take off with its slow early story, but I got hooked once they gave me a swegway.
I laughed pretty hard when you described the side content. I've never played any of these games, but this one looks so insane. I have to experience it lol

I'm definitely picking this up day one with deluxe edition, I don't know how they set the price but in my currency LAD7 and LADIW base games both share the same price tag, plus deluxe edition of LADIW only costs me an extra equivalent of 3 US dollars, according to steamdb my currency ranks the 2nd cheapest out of all currencies that steam uses to sell this game

It is hard to explain a Yakuza game to someone who never played one. You did an amazing job. The game series always have a hard time balancing story content with actual gameplay. But since i don´t have a solution to this problem it is best just to soak the story content in and wait patiently for being able to play the game again.Heck in the end, it is mostly the stories why i return to this franchise.

No way they'll revert that decision now that the purchases are finalized. Best-case scenario, the DLC bundle goes on sale for a much lower price within the next year or so -- still very scummy, but it's the only real way to avoid having to issue refunds.

Awesome! I can’t wait til my copy finally arrives!
Hello, Falcon!!
Hey
I love Yakuza series, but I hate the monetization for this one. This is a full price AAA game at 70$ and while I still not agree with that price I can accept it, but now, pay-walling a basic feature like new game+ is beyond greedy, is plain evil.
Yes, not everyone likes playing multiple times the same game after finishing the story, specially JRPGs since they are not usually very replayable since they are usually grindy and linear, but the are still people that like to do that, specially when the games are really really good like Yakuza, and this also a basic feature when you are trying to complete all achievements/trophies, and making that more difficult or time consuming is such bs.
Hit the nail on the head there.
From some comments I've received, it's not a money issue since games can be costly and something like this having so much content is worthy of the 70 dollar price tag BUT, I don't agree in trying to rip players off by removing a feature that's been in previous titles with no price tag.
There's no defending this kind of practice cause if they can get away with it they will do that for every single game along with the rest of the industry if we normalize that kind of business practice.
Amazing video gameranx before you buy of like a dragon infinity wealth, fantastic job. I love these games.

I’ve spent over a 100 hours in every single Yakuza game. Even Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza 3. Then there’s also the two Judgement games and Fist of The Northstar. So my anticipation for this is through the roof.
Not many people put more than 30 hours into Y3. Respect. It's one of my favs in the series.
Having to pay an Additional $25/£15 for the deluxe Edinburgh just to unlock NG+ means I will not be buying the game at all.

I really loved Yakuza 7 Like a Dragon! As a Persona fan, I found that game was like a Persona game, with adult characters and adult issues. Those ridiculous ex attacks are really creative I can’t help but laugh..Also Eric Tomizawa was played by Satoru Iguchi from King Gnu. Their music was awesome.. it’s a shame that he won’t get a karaoke song. Go listen to Sakayume, Hakujitsu, SpecialZ, and Hikoutei. His voice is divine.
big fan of the Persona games (i mean dojima is my pfp so). whats always been interesting to me is the shared DNA of the series as both are pretty heavily inspired by the Shenmue series. where Yakuza/Like A Dragon very much served as Shenmue after Shenmue "died", Persona obviously did some of its own things and went more for the characters over the action, but they all still to me feel very connected as games.
Having this and Tekken 8 coming simultaneously is just amazing.

Can’t believe so many people are still so turned off by turn based combat. I’m playing this as soon as it releases.
i can easily believe it, what? i mean this is a 2 decade old series that used real-time brawling as its mainstay gameplay mechanic. ofc some people are going to be pissed that the series where they used to just beat the tar out of any thug and actual tiger standing in their way turned into a turn-based Dragon Quest style RPG. thats not to say its bad at all, but it should be easy to see that when a series makes a change like this, its gonna ruffle some feathers.

I love this franchise so much. I am SO damn hyped for this game, especially with Kiryu becoming a party member. Only way I could be more hyped is if Majima was also joining Kasuga's party.
Maybe next game
@@doginhat13 Hopefully. Hell, I can even easily imagine Majima jumping into the Dragon Quest fandom head first should Ichiban ever introduce him to the franchise, giving him reason tongo all in with the turn based combat just like Ichiban does. Plus, Majima is getting older, and IMO we see some pretty strong evidence of that during the end of Gaiden when both him and Saijima struggle to hold off one guy despite double teaming him. Yeah, it was the final boss of the game, but the fact that this blatantly shows that both Majima and Saijima aren't on the same level that Kiryu was at that point means that they're starting to decline to being closer to where Kasuga and his party are. The next game honestly might even have both as party members.
I will always have mad respect for for the director of this game and Yakuza 7 due to the reason he decided to go turn based. He was sick of seeing turn based game turn into action games, so he turned an action game into a turn based one. What a legend.
Also, I've always wanted an RPG that uses a job system featuring real world jobs, and i'm shocked that this franchise was the first to do so. There's still so much potential with the idea though and I hope someone else takes a crack at it someday.
I was wondering if we’d get one of these before launch!
tbh the trailers really kept making distance myself from this game, but this before you buy really helped. Excellent review
Pissed that sega is locking new game plus behind a paywall though
YOU CAN'T DO NEW GAME PLUS it's ONLY AVAILABLE FOR THE 80$ ver.
technically its 70 dollars for the `base game` and then an extra 15 bucks or 85 dollars. not counting the `ultimate edition costs` on top of that and likely whatever extra clogs they slip in that just screams, wait till other games are done and then pick it up on a month of game drought or when it goes on sale next black friday or the year after that for 50% or even 80% off.
Thats how i got Like a Dragon Standard edition for 18 bucks. could of got the ultimate one for 30ish or so, but just didnt feel the desire to at the time.
Nobody gives a shit about new game plus in a hundred hour rpg. You shouldn't care. That says more about your lonely existence than anything else
@@thequinlanshow3326you saying that says a lot about you being a pos person then anything else.
Its not simply the matter of New game plus, its the matter of, let me repeat it, more and more systems getting `removed` and charged as additional costs, then simply leaving them alone.
Since as repeated: The bloody game already costs an extra 10 bucks because of the PS5 horse in the room.
Throw in the fact that people normally play video games to get the fk away from reality to just have fun, like people do the same for paying for `services`, `consuming debilitating materials to put oneself in a state of stupor and more`, its really not too different in that part.
Ultimately, many people can always go to different pastures while they wait for this one to go down in price with discounts and for any `fake lightning & fake grass` to get peeled up before it reveals additional costs or bad systems in place.
Cause anyone remember how Capcom shoved DRM in alot of its older games? Makes one realize alot of game companies if they want can pull that crap `if they wanted to`.
In the end this is just me giving my fingers some exercise while venting some frustration from multiple annoyances that happened this week and is more healthy to me then blindly beliving its totally a good idea to spend effectively over 100 dollars for a smidge of `additions` that were originally by default a part of the game in general, instead of being what is essentially 5 dollars to pay for a particular game mode and 10 dollars for a supposed `non-descript` additional post game that may or may not be that very lengthie at all and might mostly just consist of Repeat boss fights that just have thar stats inflated like your standard Story based lazy rpg that just reuses all the previous boss fights with no real context because they are too lazy to write a story more consistent then Final Fantasy 1 to justify fighting a bunch of bosses more then one time again.

I’ve never played a Yakuza game but I am highly interested in trying out this game. I heard that it would be a good idea to try Yakuza 0 first. Good advice would be welcome for a newcomer like me. Thanks in advance
Starting from 0 then playing 1,2,3, etc in order is considered best from an overall yakuza story perspective. If you want to play this game asap then start with yakuza like a dragon, then head straight into this game. That being said all games provide enough backstory to be played standlone.
Love all the yakuza games soo im looking forward for this one.
Like A Dragon had so many parts to it that it really shouldn’t have worked as a whole but am so impressed how it came together to make something so unique and enjoyable.
Never played one before that but this was such a positive experience that I’m more excited about infinite wealth then almost anything else.
I tend to watch these BYB videos after I've already bought the game and am just waiting for it to finish downloading and installing.
This channel could be about socks and I’ll still never miss a vid
Something ironic with the newer Like A Dragon games is that while being turn based games they are incredibly popular. I remember lots of people saying that turn based games were a thing of the past and games like this one, Persona or Baldur's Gate proved them wrong
for me it's boring. 😢
It's incredible how fast they churn these out and that they apparently remain good.
Within a year they released three games
One is Ishin Kiwami, which is an upated port meant to be accessible for as much platforms as possible
LAD Gaiden, which was originally just a small section in 8 but split off to become its own thing.
And now we got 8
2012-2015 fans would have never imagined something like this.
They are very efficient with assets and often reuse them, and are honestly spot on with it. Ive never seen assets reused better.
@@zaydabdulkadirIt's a good thing because they can still push out quality games with deep storylines whilst keeping the gameplay fresh with all the new minigames.
Only someone used to slop would suggest the continuously recycled assets from this franchise produce something "good".
There was no "before" for me on this one, bought in full as soon as it was listed, no regrets. 60hrs in on Chapter 11 of 14 with still tons to do. Nothing feels like a slog and if anything did it's easy to switch what you're doing on the fly. 7/LAD walked so 8/IW could run in comparison and 7/LAD is still worth playing in advance in its own right. Story never slept and I'm loving the "double dragons" take on Kiryu passing the mantle over to Ichiban. Really hard to find something else purely awesome in as many degrees as this recently.
They improved everything in this game, which is surprising cause they didn't leave a lot of room for improvement in the last game. I kinda miss playing in Japan though. I would have liked a new location in Japan instead . Also very sad that Eri and Ichiban Holdings is gone 😔
I pray ichiban gets the full love that kiryu got we need 7 more games of him and his story
