    WOW. You just opened up an entirely new world to me. I've done some lost wax in the past and knew I could cast wax into a mold made on my 3d printer but I didn't know there was a "wax like" resin I could use to skip that huge step. This will bring me to an entirely new branch in my business. Thank you!

    Hey! There is an easier way to attach the spruce to the model and its way more precise too! I suggest purchasing a electric wax spatula heater with a pen. They can be pricy but if you mainly need it to stick spruces to the wax then their is a decent one on amazon for like 50 bucks.

    Hi @GomeowCreations. Awesome content. Have learned a lot.
    After watching this video I've finally had my first successful print with this resin.
    I used the same print settings you did in this video but the print came out a lot less detailed than when I used the Standard Elegoo Photopolymer resin.
    Any tips on how I could achieve the same level of fine detail with BlueCast x 10 + sharpenizer as when I use the standard resin and default Elegoo Mars 2 pro settings?
    Much appreciated and keep producing great content 👍

    Why do you pry off the stubs from the support beams and fill the holes with wax and a hot knife? Wouldn't it be easier to remove the stubs with a hot knife in the first place? Or would that not work for any reasons?

  • @stephaniesummers7452
    @stephaniesummers7452 Před 3 lety +2

    Thanks for taking some of the mystery out of this type of casting. Question, you mentioned below about multiple copies of one design, and maybe having a mold made and using the wax injection system. So that injector makes sure that the wax is complete inside the mold? then what? the next step to cast the wax design. Just trying to wrap my head around this

    • @GomeowCreations
      @GomeowCreations  Před 3 lety

      Yes so if you make a master mold you can inject hot wax into it and it will make a perfect copy in minutes. Once you have these wax parts you can clean them up if needed and then attach to the sprue tree like I did with the printed parts. After that you can basically do everything I did in the video and cast them. 😁

    I noticed in your previous video with the mandalorian ring you left the flask in the vacuum chamber for 2 hours? Where is this video I think you said you left it in for a minute and took it out and let it dry outside the vacuum. Did you find this worked better? Also why was the previous ring black and these were more silver? Any ideas on how to not leave any soot marks?

    • @GomeowCreations
      @GomeowCreations  Před 3 lety +2

      I think you misunderstood or I misspoke in that older video. I didn't leave it in the vacuum for 2hours I left it on that vacuum table for 2 hours to cure and set up. I only had them in the vacuum chamber for 1min each.
      As for the burn out I used different temps and times so that is what it came out so much better.

    • @miavaughn2393
      @miavaughn2393 Před 3 lety +1

      No, farmcraft101 (another 3d print/caster/metalworker ytuber) doesn't, you just end up with potential bubbles on the piece and possible cracking of the mold, but there are ways besides a vacuum chamber to mitigate this like pouring the mold from up high (reduces bubbles). He doesn't even use resin, he just uses normal fdm printer. Depends on what you're doing this for. If your goal is to make super perfect jewelry, being super anal over every detail, that might not be acceptable, but if you just want to make cool things, or parts for contraptions/gadgets/general diying then it really shouldn't matter. And really most imperfections in the actual casted piece can be filed down/polished anyway. Depends on how much you care. If you wanted to get into this, I would get everything BUT the vacuum chamber and see how it does for your personal taste, then upgrade to the vacuum chamber if you're dissatisfied. That's with a lot of this maker/diyer stuff, most people can't afford all this crap at once, you've gotta piecemeal it. You can even make your own furnace for the metal as a diy project (probably potentially even way larger) just with less granular control. Many possibilities.

    i am sorry but all this casting stuff printing lark carry on its twice the work just make the ring draw it on a piece of paper its worked for centuries, a load of very expensive gear instead of a two pence piece of paper stupid.

    • @GomeowCreations
      @GomeowCreations  Před 3 lety +1

      But then how do you than take that drawing on paper and turn it into a piece of metal jewelry? What you're comparing aren't the same at all.
      If you would have compared it to wax carving that has been used for centuries, than you would have a much better point.
      Wax caving is still used today by a lot of people and takes a lot of time to learn and master. 3D design is very similar and takes a lot of time to master. Both can make awesome castings but 3D print allows you to make the same thing over an over in small batches. You can also scale your work in seconds or have files made for you anywhere in the world and send to you to make real.
      Both 3D prints and wax carvings can be made into molds so if you need the same thing over and over you can make them in bulk.
      Please if you disagree let me know. 😁👍

      @@GomeowCreations i do strongly disagree, if you are making an exclusive piece of jewellery for a client and make a mould of it or do it in three d that means anyone in the world can get your pattern, on paper tear the pattern up that s one exclusive piece of jewellery one happy client

    • @GomeowCreations
      @GomeowCreations  Před 3 lety +2

      I think you are still miss understanding how this all works. I can make a 3D file and it will only be on my computer. No one will have access to it just like if it was a drawing.
      Also I'm still wanting to know how a drawing could be made into metal? Do you mean you design it on paper and then what, transfer it into flat metals fabricate it and solder it together? Yeah this can be done and still is done.
      Let's go with your one off thing for a client, this can be done in 3D, wax or fabrication work. Yes you can draw it out and show the client and see what they think of it. You can also show them the wax model and make changes as needed or you can make a 3D model show it on a pc and print it out for them to hold and see if they like it.
      Just because something is new doesn't me the old thing is better and not all new ways are better. This is about options. I'm happy that there are more than one way to make things.

      @@GomeowCreations ok you make a wax model client comes along huh dont like that you make another one this could go on for weeks or until you shoot the client, same with the three d model and from what you have told that stuff aint cheap and it takes quite a while for it to cure, ok modern tech all well and good costs a fortune for the programs if you want the top drawer ones my be even a new computer to handle all the modern tech piece of paper 2 pence, if you enjoy making jewellery either for a client or for your self in the end it dont matter a fig how you do it, i like hands on sawing cutting soldering al that really enjoy it and if you enjoy sitting at a computer pushing buttons fair enough to each there own, you my friend take care keep well keep safe.
