Trains at Malvern - Metro Trains Melbourne

- In this video we visit Malvern, a station on the Cranbourne, Frankston, and Pakenham lines in Melbourne's south east. Here we see all four types of Metro trains in the fleet; on the Frankston Line we see a good variety of different Comeng, Siemens, and X'trapolis trains. On the Cranbourne and Pakenham lines we mostly see the new High Capacity Metro Trains (HCMT's), but we also see the odd Siemens train too.
Malvern is one of the four 'MATH' stations; being Malvern, Armadale, Toorak, and Hawksburn. All four of these stations opened on the same day, being the 7th May 1879 when the line from South Yarra to Oakleigh was built. All four stations were rebuilt to their current configurations in 1914 when the line between South Yarra and Caulfield was regraded and quadruplicated. As a result all four of these stations share the same design.
Malvern differs from the other three MATH stations slightly as it's served by some services on the Cranbourne and Pakenham lines, mainly during the weekday off-peak and on weekends during the day. All the other stations are served exclusively by the Frankston Line, while the Cranbourne & Pakenham lines run express through those stations. It wasn't always this way as between 2014 and 2022 most, if not all, Cranbourne and Pakenham line services ran express through Malvern. However as part of the recent February 2022 timetable change Cranbourne and Pakenham line services were altered to stop at Malvern during certain times of the day.
This is also my first video to be filmed with my brand new camcorder; a Panasonic HC-VXF1, which will replace my older Panasonic HC-V785 which I had been using since 2017. This new camera will enable me to continue providing good content for you all, and will enable me to film and upload in 4K in the future should I decide to do so.

Malvern looks nice
It is quite a nice station with lovely Edwardian architecture; like many train stations around Melbourne constructed around this period.
@@ThebusofdoomFSXyeah. I agree with you buddy. Hope the pigeons are behaving themselves.
Do you think you’ll record some trains in the Bellarine railway in Geelong?
