Guys! Do NOT ruin for him the experience and spoil! 👏and we definitely need more than 1 episodes or it will take years 😂 Torchwood too.
Don't forget the Sarah Jane Adventures.
No spoiling is not possible for fans. That was clearly obvious for Emme Reacts. Everyone was commenting spoilers on The impossible planet.
@@Jimmy_Jones yeah at a certain point it becomes better to just not read comments at all. who fans have zero idea how to keep their mouths shut.
Go back and watch some classic Doctor Who from 1963 on you will love it
@@Jimmy_Jonesif you think that's bad, on her reaction to (I believe) "The Idiot's Lantern", there were a few comments talking about Susan Twist, Ruby and stuff going on in Series 14. Why do that? That Series has nothing to do with the episode being reacted to...
EVERYONE, PLEASE
Avoid *spoilers* for this man. We all know how important that word is to us, and eventually he will too. Try and answer questions he might have to the best of your ability WITHOUT spoiling things.
Hear, hear!
I would take it so far to say don't even foreshadow, hint, dance around the topic, etc....
I love Jim the Fish
@@grump9001
Edit: didn’t realize you were referring to the name.
Doctor Who fans? Not spoil for the reactor?
C’mon at least try something plausible. 😂😂😂
'She walked so Ruby could run'... Nah this is Doctor who, everyone runs here! 😅
🤣🤣🤣
Lots and lots of running. Love the running.
"Zoe, Jamie . . . RUN!!!"
awful lot of running... tooo dooo
She ran so Ruby could tiptoe behind. 😅
The most important lesson you can learn from Dr. Who is never spend Christmas in London.
So true
Sucks to me. I freaking live here.
😂
Man said "Mannequins... I'm out..." and I knew this was going to be fun. Pure evil delight grin on my face.
So glad to see more people getting into Dr Who and watching this show for the first time.
Fun (?) fact. The Kennedy Assassination is sort of an Easter Egg. The first episode of Doctor Who in 1963 was delayed to announce his death.
No it wasn't. Kennedy was killed on Friday 22nd. Doctor Who was scheduled to start at 17:15 on the 23rd. It _did_ actually start about a minute or two late, but that was nothing to do with JFK.
@@weescotspaulit was repeated the following week though because they feared people missed it due to the bombshell which had just dropped with Kennedy's assassination, which
was rare in 1963.
@@andrewsmart4491 Yes, this is true.
The assassination did cause a drop in potential viewing figures, so they repeated it the following week before the next episode.
The actual broadcast was not delayed due to JFK, though. It went ahead, more or less,, at the expected time.
@@weescotspaulit was still aired but almost no one watched it because everyone was watching the news 😂
@@MrMetallix I know that it aired with low viewership. My point still stands that it was *not delayed* to announce Kennedy's death or for any other reason connected to JFK, as the OP claims. The episode aired pretty much when it was supposed to. The only affect from the assassination was low viewing figures, that's it.
The shooting and the announcement of death had both happened the previous day and, naturally, people were more interested in watching continued news coverage than a new sci-fi show.
“A new Whovian has entered the chat” 😂 I’m so ready
As I've seen mentioned before, Christopher Eccleston is a wonderful post-war Doctor. He's capable of portraying such incredible sadness that I've only really come to appreciate on rewatches. Also Rose is a fan favorite for a very good reason. To so many people, she represented the viewer and was someone we could all relate to. A shop girl, a high-school drop out, belonging to a single-parent family. She was great companion.
Eccleston was perfect for the revival series imo, the perfect balance between silliness and seriousness that fans of the original series can appreciate, while also setting the tone of the show for newcomers. His run has bad episodes, sure, but it has some brilliant ones (episodes 6 and 8 come to mind), and his acting is always on point no matter what.
"If the mannequins move.... " cackling
just realizing-"his one constant companion, death"? that line has a different ring after gatwa's first season.
Russel T Davies said he had that idea about Sutekh since he first watched _Pyramids of Mars,_ but they didn't have the budget to do the story he wanted previously. So it might well have been a deliberate tease before he realised that.
2005 didn't have the budgets and tech?! We could only dream of this back in the 80s,70s,60s!
I'm always amused when new fans complain about the "terrible" special effects of the 2005 series.
For those of us who grew up on the 1963-89 series, the NuWho effects WERE the GOOD effects.
The person who controlled the BBC back when Who was originally cancelled hated the show, and when it came back even he admitted it was good now, in part because it looked so much better. They did a good job back then though because they really didn't have much budget, and towards the end hardly any faith from the higher-ups.
I still think it looks pretty good.
Fun Fact: The department store Rose worked at that got blown up is the same building used in The Church on Ruby Road where the goblins made the snowman head almost fall on Ruby and her friends and then the woman with the stroller doing Christmas shopping.
im sure someone else might have mentioned it but i was too lazy to read the comments.
really happy to see you exploring the 2005 era. really excited to see your journey though my favorite TV series. the joy and excitement you seem to feel brings me much joy to witness. enjoy!!
I thought the same thing. I kept looking for others to say it but couldn't see anything.
Can we let the guy get through Rose and the good stuff before he has to wade through the crap..
I think might be because there are only so many tall cardiff buildings that can pass for London 😅
YESSSSS THE BEGINNING!! Sorta. Classic who is a different beast, for a different adventure. Welcome to the beginning of the show most of us know and love! It's a genuine treasure of a series. Good luck!!
Knowing that Sutekh was the God of Death, hearing from Clive "he has one constant companion... Death" is so cool. You might also notice that some of this Doctor's TARDIS console was in the memory TARDIS.
Are you sure that it is a connection to Sutehk?
@@francisgilbert6982 Probably wasn't at the time, but RTD did write both episodes so it could be where the idea for Sutekh's presence came from? Either way it's cool in hindsight.
@@francisgilbert6982 In highsight it possibly is. RTD said that he had the idea for this Sutekh storyline while he was writing S01, but he felt like the budget wasn't big enough to do the story justice so he parked it. (edit: I'm not saying that it was a connection to Sutekh just that Sutekh was in RTD's mind when he was writing this)
@@francisgilbert6982 It may be totally unintentional, but it's certainly a neat connection to make.
RTD wrote in the Sutekh clinging on the tardis since pyramids of mars, because when he was a fan watching the episode in 1975 he had a theory that Sutekh just clung onto the tardis. So he thought about it for almost 50 years but wrote it in now
It's always exciting to see someone meet The Doctor for the first time! And Rose is a fantastic companion. I'm glad to get to take this journey with you -- you're gonna' love it!
"Hey, I know that actor" & ""Hey, I've seen him/her/them somewhere" is a very recurring frase from reactors and I'm here for it (also for the amazing stories in Doctor Who ofcourse)
Like Sutekh, the Autons (living plastic mannequins) are a returning classic villain from the 1970s.
You know what i just realised its a good job the autons stuck to maniquinnes probably spelt that wrong imagine if they used lego
Most people don't do this with classic who, but when you go into it I do recommend watching it in order, most people pick and choose stories, but me and my partner sat down and watched it all in order and especially the first 2 doctors have a lot of growth over time that you don't really appreciate if you're coming in and out all over the place and its just a really fun comfortable experience seeing these characters grow and change over time
ideally id agree, but it's a lot to ask of someone even when they don't have to sit down & edit after every episode, lol. itd be cool if he managed to, but yeah.
That is not the best advice, telling people to commit to watching every single episode, even the bad episodes. I suggest it would be better to watch the top 5 rated episodes of each doctor, even if it includes expanded media for higher quality, instead of watching every single episode just for the sake of it, just because they exist.
@@chriszone50 except every episode has its fans, you do it this way you might miss out on what would be your favourite, and fan opinion is hardly reliable given how many rate talons 10/10, the only story I couldn't finish
Rose is the 1st companion for the second run of Doctor Who. His granddaughter Susan and her teachers , Ian and Barbara were the first companions in 1963
They weren't companions they were kidnapping victims 😂
@@stephjovi ROFL - which isn't as unusual as you might think.... The doctor was pretty bad about dematerializing without checking to make sure no one had walked into the TARDIS. XD
@@eshbena oh he knew they're there he told them he can't let them go. Altough he was so bad in flying the Tardis he has no idea when he's ever be back
Rose Tyler and Jackie Tyler are national treasures
"And he has one constant companion. Death"
Well! Knowing what we know about Sutekh, that surprisingly accurate!
YIkes!
ONE OF US, ONE OF US
You don't know how hyped I am for this! I hope you keep making theory and speculation videos for your reactions on this. 🤭
The pacing and comedy in this episode made for a terrific introduction
Oh yes! I am glad that we're starting in 2005!
I was a fan of the original series from the late ‘70s onwards, up to its cancellation in’89. I still think of ‘Rose’ as ‘new’….. hard to believe it was transmitted almost 20 years ago now! Oh Lordy, I guess I got old!!
When you think about it, nearly as much time has passed now between the original series cancellation and this episode, as has passed between this episode and now
Welcome, “NuWho-vian!” SO excited to be a vicarious Companion on your journey. *Fantastic* reaction, can’t wait for the next one - just liked, subscribed, and turned on notifications 🤗 Edit: Spelling/format
His one constant companion "sutekth" 16:10
Oh heck! I actually forgot -- now I'll see him everywhere. Or look for hints of him. Which, even though they didn't actually put them there will now start to appear. It's all a bit timey-wimey!
And so it begins. Can’t wait to take this journey with you!
Love that I’ve found someone else who’s right at the start of their NuWho journey and that I get to follow along with each new video. Also love that you seem to have watched the newest season and then decided to go back to 2005 and watch it, and that makes me thrilled because there are so many iconic moments that I’m looking forward to you witnessing for the first time. Might have to go back and watch your reactions to Ncuti’s season, just based off what you’ve said here. I love that you’re loving it already, Rose is my favorite Companion, and I hope you continue to love this run.
THAT'S MY DOCTORRRR. Aw, I hope you love it all! I adore this season.
Ur in for an amazing ride, so many iconic doctors and moments, it’s less of a Disney feel it’s more serious but also funny too, also I feel like the reactions of people are more realistic, like rose reacting to the doctor and the tardis
This makes me so happy, I can’t wait to relive this series through your eyes 💗
I'm smiling so much seeing this.😊
Also, when the Doctor deactivates the arm in the apartment, I believe he's making a joke when he says "There you go. See? 'armless."
Using that way of saying "Harmless".
I'm glad you are enjoying it so far, as this series has a place in my heart(this was my first Doctor 😊).
The only information I will tell you is that Rose's mum is called Jackie, and that her boyfriend is called Mickey.
For me personally, Eccleston and tennant perfectly played each version of their character.
Eccleston is fresh out of the timewar full of wrath and fury, but not lacking in compassion and care for the people around him, a balance Eccleston was keen to bring to the character and he nailed it in my opinion.
Tennant was more calm, rose helped him to bring out the compassion, empathy and drive to keep on going, so tennants character is much warmer and less intense.
Really excited for you to start this amazing series, will subscribe for more and i hope the series continues
Excited that you have started from here. It’s going to be interesting watching you react as you have already watched Ncuti’s Doctor. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
The intro of this video was really cool, loved that compilation leading you to this point :D
Yay so excited you are starting on this series you are in for a ride!
Yes!!!! I've been waiting all day!! So excited for this journey, you're gonna love it!
u have a POV nobody else here in the chat has or will have, your first impressions of DW are brand new and u get to explore the stuff we love with new eyes and also eyes nobody else has access to. if you then begin following classic Who I will be very very very impressed, you are a new type of fan.
And I subscribed cos I am so damn intrigued, if you go through my subscribtions you'll see I almost almost NEVER follow reactionists.
The Nestene consciousness controlling mannequins (Autons) is a call back to the first adventure of the third Doctor (Jon Pertwee) in the classic Doctor Who series. That episode "Spearhead from Space" broadcast in 1970 introduced the third Doctor and was the first colour episode.
A great dip in to classic would be the very very first episode An Unearthly Child part 1. Its 25 minutes and is still extremely compelling. I dont really recommend the other parts in that particular serial tbh, but part 1 is the perfect pilot. Plus it has the real Susan in it which may be interesting as a Ncuti era introduced fan!
Chameleon circuit that's broken/frozen on the Public Police call box, the perception filter is so everyone ignores it, mostly. :)
I am so excited to go on this ride with you! I've seen Doctor Who so many times but it's always refreshing to watch it through someone else's eyes.
Geronimo! Welcome to the fam!
Fun fact: Rose's workplace, the building that blows up at 8:00, is the same building that had the giant snowman that fell on the 15th Doctor in The Church on Ruby Road!!
Gotta love watching the show in the past and remembering the future season for comparison, very in keeping with this show. So excited to see you go on this journey! Btw you nailed pronouncing Christopher Eccleston's name 😌
It's so fun to watch someone watch one of my favourite shows from the start (NuWho, I haven't seen the classics) for the first time
AAAAY LETS GOOOOOO
Lots of planets have a North is apt as Chris is from the North, Born in Salford, Lancashire, England.
Wikipedia:
Christopher Eccleston was in Our Friends in the North a British television drama serial produced by the BBC. It was originally broadcast in nine episodes on BBC2 in early 1996. It tells the story of four friends from Newcastle upon Tyne in the NE of England over a period of 31 years, from 1964 to 1995.
Yesss you are in for a treat. A wild, crazy, tonal whiplash, at times frustrating and yet overall, FANTASTIC treat!
Clive’s line - “He has one constant companion: death” - takes on a WHOLE different meaning after the whole Sutekh reveal
Watching series 1 with Chris Eccleston and Billie Piper for the first time? Lucky man. You're in for a treat.
Excited to see your journey! Super enjoyed your reactions to S14 and I can’t wait to see what you think of all the previous Doctors!
You want to talk about beans on toast. OK, here's how Brits view them…
Ah, behold the humble tin of baked beans, a veritable Pandora’s box of comfort and nostalgia! With trembling hands, you seize this metallic chalice, knowing full well the delight it holds within its confines. As you peel back the lid, a heady aroma wafts forth, like memories of childhood picnics and rainy day lunches encapsulated in tomatoey splendor.
The saucepan stands ready, a knight awaiting its noble charge. Into this vessel, you pour the beans, a river of amber and ruby flowing forth, promising warmth and sustenance. The hob flickers to life, a dragon breathing its gentle fire, coaxing the beans into a simmering dance. Ah, the sizzle and pop, a symphony of sustenance, each bubble a note in the melody of anticipation.
Now, to the bread, that canvas of golden potential! Each slice, a blank page upon which a culinary masterpiece shall be writ. Into the toaster they go, descending into the fiery abyss to emerge reborn, transformed into golden slabs of perfection. Watch closely, for the line between toast and char is as fine as a spider’s silk, shimmering and delicate.
The bread springs forth, victorious and golden, the very sun captured in culinary form. With a flourish, you spread a whisper of butter, its creamy luxury melting into the toast’s warm embrace like a lover’s tender kiss.
And now, the moment of union, the crescendo of this gastronomic symphony! The beans, now bubbling with fervor, are ladled generously onto the toast, each spoonful an offering to the gods of comfort food. The toast, sturdy and humble, bears its burden with grace, soaking in the savory goodness.
A pinch of salt, a dash of pepper, and lo, the transformation is complete! But wait, there is more to this tale. Should you desire, a handful of grated cheese may be strewn atop, a snowy mantle that melts and mingles, adding richness to this already decadent feast.
Ah, but the journey does not end here. For those who seek adventure, a splash of Worcestershire sauce or a hint of chilli powder may be added to the beans, infusing them with an exotic flair, a touch of the unknown.
Thus, you stand back and admire your creation, this simple yet profound dish. Beans on toast, a testament to the beauty of simplicity, a dish that speaks of home and hearth, of love and care.
And as you take that first bite, you are transported, lifted upon the wings of flavour to a place where comfort and contentment reign supreme.
Bon appétit, dear friend, bon appétit.
That, dear friend, is a literary masterpiece... bravo!👏
I do have one question for you though... who takes beans to a picnic 😳🤔
It *has* to be tinned beans from the UK because the U.S. version doesn’t taste the same! (Too sweet)
@@TheCagedCorvid I had a friend who took a can of beans on a hike. A picnic honestly doesn't seem too different in contrast.
@@TheCagedCorvid That's very kind of you to say, but I really can't take credit. Full disclosure - that was ChatGPT doing something it's actually quite good at. (Apart from the picnic - that was a bit off-pitch. I noticed it too, but what the hey.) I'll try posting a link below, but yT tends to decline URLS, so just in case, here were the prompts.
1. A straightforward recipe for beans on toast, please, with UK measurements and terminology.
2. Now take that recipe, including the tips, and rewrite it as a dramatic monologue, with plenty of purple prose and imaginative similes and metaphors.

Heres a list of Classic Stories that you need to watch if you want to explore more of this show, with no spoilers:
An Unearthly Child (This is a 4 part story, and the very episode of Doctor Who ever... it's also not legally available anywhere, even in the UK for very unfortunate reasons involving the son of the writer of the first episode, but if you can find a way to watch it, you really should)

The Tenth Planet
The Invasion
Spearhead from Space
Genesis of the Daleks
Pyramids of Mars

My first Doctor was the 4th, Tom Baker in 1974. I love Doctor Who and I am soooo down for watching this!
watching a story per doctor for the classic series is a good way to get a taste of all of them. though for the first doctor, id recommend doing the first two stories, as they were about equally instrumental in establishing the show.
You never forget your first Doctor!
