So much to learn from this one. We think warm underwear must be bulky, but pretty, thin camisoles keep heat next to the body and still feel so feminine. One of my favorite tips is to make sure our top coat is purchased in a large enough size to accommodate layers underneath. No, it doesn't make us larger, quite the opposite! There isn't enough writing space to say everything I love about this. Even though this video is 3 or 4 years old, the final fashionable look is timeles . Brilliant!

Suddenly, it takes an extra half hour to layer up and get out the door in S/W Ontario. There’s our 30 minutes of exercise and extra weight-bearing exercise per day😂 Bending over to put our boots on adds flexibility and raises the heart rate. All in jest. Have a good laugh. I’m going out to buy the new Armour Under thermal foundation wear today

I walk miles and miles every day and live in the UK so I spend at least five months of each year being cold! I find it is worth spending money on really good quality thermal underwear. There are so many nice styles now and the fabric is so thin that you can wear them under any style of clothing. I will admit I choose practicality over style when it comes to coats and buy them from hiking shops! You live in such a pretty area BTW.

I live in the southeast US where we get only a little cold weather. So it’s not practical for me to have “winter pants.” So I just add thin thermals to my tropical weight pants ... works great and very budget friendly!

@@epualc I honestly don't have a favourite brand. I always just look around at the end of the winter when it is all heavily discounted. The more expensive brands are generally better. However, I have got some amazing thermal leggings that I wear under my work trousers and they cost me ÂŁ3 from Primark.

It was 9* F this morning in Michigan. Winter has come early and cold. When I layer, I make sure I can easily peel layers off when I go into a store or restaurant, so I probably wouldn’t do a pull over sweater. I always bring a big cashmere scarf . Sometimes when I am inside and have the coat off, I need a little bit more warmth. Friday I am standing out in the cold bell ringing for the Salvation Army ( charity) and I will be layering big time. Thanks for the tips.

My fav is a spring look, a pair of stone coloured jeans from a good store but not bothered to wear before as straight leg, paired with 2 layered white t-shirt (one longer) my unworn navy semi-fitted Next blazer, cuffs turned back to reveal pale blue, a pair of new white leather trainers with discreet gold edging around sole, my fav blue/white slightly sparkle long fringed butterfly design scarf and some light discreet heart shaped earrings and a gold Pisces necklace. Puma sunglasses (a gift) on top of head and my copy Pierre Cardin navy tote bag. Can't believe it's me when I look in the mirror!! Looks chic and stylish and not overdone, and I'm wearing the clothes, not them wearing me!! All thanks to you, Marie-Anne, so Merci Merci!! đŸ€—đŸ˜đŸ˜Ž xx

I’m looking forward to reaching a stable weight and size so I can invest in some good wool knitwear. So far I just have two that I found in charity shops, one in navy that I wear often and one in purple that is less useful. I’m finding my style journal helpful, interesting and fun; I enjoy writing in it and give outfits points out of ten for style and comfort. I’m now looking forward to getting dressed in the morning. I have a meeting tomorrow and have tried out an outfit this evening to wear for it and I can’t wait to put it on. ❀

I love layering. I also hate perspiration stains at the armholes. There are several options, but I found some instructions on the Net and sewed up three pairs that I pin into the seams of the garment. All it takes is fabric and a needle and thread or sewing machine.. I layered flannel between two layers of muslin; for heavier perspiration, use two or three layers of flannel for extra absorbency. It took maybe an hour to make all six. Hand wash, air dry, and voilĂ !

I adore layering clothes but here in Costa Rica the weather doesn’t get as cold as I would love. The coldest months are December to February and the temperature goes down to sometimes 15-13 celsius but not less than that.
Anyways that’s my only chance to wear the clothes I like (light coats, scarves, turtleneck, etc).
Cardigans are my thing to go when going informal and blazers of course with my scarf.đŸ˜ș
Mixing gray, cream or white sweaters or shirts with a black coat is one of my favorite combinations!
Now I’m getting ready because the weather is beginning to change.
If you are too cold in my beloved France you and yours are always welcome in my country so you can escape from extreme đŸ„¶.
    Coco is adorable!
    Have a wonderful evening Marie-Anne.

Thank goodness for silk knit base layers -- underwear! Bottoms come in full length and Capri; tops in every sleeve length, turtle, crew, and scoop neck. Beautiful colors, lace trim. I wear the long pants under jeans in the winter. I wear them under long skirts with knee boots. They're not too warm when you are indoors. Also some very thin, lightweight down filled vests and shirt/jackets out there. Warm, no thicker than a light sweater or cardie -- not Michelin man at all! Some are very English country style.
I learned to layer for warmth while still being business appropriate on my first post-college job. Had to wait for my bus change in downtown Milwaukee -- dark, COLD, wind off Lake Michigan. And women did NOT wear pants to the office at that time. I was layered and bundled but stylish as possible!

Also, I always keep my overcoats a size larger to accommodate layering. 😉 I have always dressed in layers exactly as you have shown here in your video and I had to smile to myself as before I got to the end of your video where you say "always dress for the weather where you live" as I was already going to say that, too, because where I was born and have always lived it is the way we locals are known to dress because of the micro-climates that differ vastly from neighbhourhood to neighbourhood throughout my city. Even last Thursday I dressed in five layers when I was going to the farmer's market, and may need to do the same again tomorrow as Thursday for me is always farmer's market day. Autumn and Winter are my favorite seasons and I love layering sweaters over dresses, adding scarves and hats and cute gloves. As an hourglass body type I have to be careful about adding too much bulk to my bust and hip areas, so I strive to create a longer leaner silhouette. I need a new winter coat (my daughter took my beloved trench coat to university with her!) and I think I may look for one like your black coat. Merçi for the great video!

I love layering, especially adding a nice printed wool scarf..I wear them indoors as well as a kind of sweater layer. My one necessary coat for very cold climate is a fitted long parka. They’re tailored now, and much less bulky, and being long they protect legs from snow and gusty wind...I just wish they’d come in better colors than black or army green. Loved seeing the doggies out for a walk btw!💗💐

For where I live (Canada) the way you dressed for the outdoors would be more conducive for a cold fall or spring day. But here the deep winter temperatures are frigid with icy arctic winds-and the snow can pile very high all around us. Most of us wear down filled parkas with attached furry hoods. I always look for the slimmest (but well insulated) parka and always with a belt to preserve my feminine form.

Would you please advise how a woman of the age 50+, blond with grey eyes has to make up her eyes to look stylish and elegant, especially if she tries to use a minimum of mascara or none at all? Thank you.

Very useful video. My sister has always laughed at me for wearing camisoles but I love them! I usually wear them with a blouse or fine jumper followed by a cardigan or jacket and then my coat, scarf, gloves and hat. But I think you've beat me in the number of layers you put on in your video! I definitely have to try that extra top under my blouse.
Your dogs are really cute. You must introduce them to us in another video. Thank you for the great advice!

I don't do much layering even though I live in a cold climate in Canada. On a daily basis, we are often running from the car to a store and don't spend much time outside. If I run into a mall, say,
I would overheat with all those layers! Still, I think it's a great idea and will incorporate layering for dog walks, doing errands on foot, etc. Great video! Cute puppies. Beautiful surroundings in your little town!

Watching this video in Florida and getting a little overheated as you add more layers! Good tips for colder climates. Re style journal: Last year, I put together several outfits with detailed descriptions but I'm having trouble locating the pieces now based on my notes! This year, I put all the outfit pieces including accessories and shoes on a big ottoman and take photos. I make sure that labels are visible. So much better. When it's time to go out, I scroll through the photos to see what grabs my attention. I like to see the different color palettes. Sometimes a long forgotten item will stand out. Of course, I always try the outfits on first and include casual and dressy options. Your tips have been very helpful.

I have made that mistake too. I now always look at the size of the armhole and the area around the armpit in particular. If that area hasn't got much room you won't get a jumper under there without it being really uncomfortable.

I forgot to mention also that our legs need to keep warm too. I got tired of my thighs feeling cold while the rest of me was warm. Adding pantyhose or thin tights under trousers or even jeans makes a huge difference for me.
