The Manker MK35 One of the Best Long Range Tactical Flashlights Reviewed

- If you need a well built LED flashlight for long range spotting, the Manker MK35 is one of the best on the market. This review shows its long range capabilities are matched by few lights. It uses a Cree XHP 35 HI dedomed emitter, and it's constructed out of aircraft grade aluminum. In this review I show it's capabilites at night, test it's runtimes, measure it's output on all modes, and compare it to other flashlights. You'll see the Nitecore TM16GT, the Acebeam K70, the Noctigon Meteor, the Convoy L6. and the Adventure Sport Flashlight 5000 lumen Maglite.
Buy it at Going Gear.com and use the coupon code "AKB" for a discount.

The way you present flashlights with floody vs spot throws (candela/lumens ratio low->high) is invaluable!
Keep your reviews just like they are. They have technical data and the dry humor is great!
Thanks Mhanlen ! I really liked the new close up shots of the light .
+George Kokologiannis decided to use the macro lens for some good close ups... glad you noticed it! Thanks!
Awesome light!! Love the comparison shot between the throwers at the end! Always great job!
+Old Ben it helps show how ansi ratings like I lost are a little overblown if the 70,000 candela has a hard time with 800 ft.
Thanks for the info. I always appreciate you sharing your knowledge. Keep up the great work, brother.
+Dewey Fisher no problem, thanks for checking it out!
Great review. I now own a MK 35. And I love it!
Thanks for the in-depth review Knife Bro!
+lowwkey91 no probz dude! Thanks for commenting on my videos- like every time! I notice it!
i just got this One for my Birthday i love it , it is very good just love every things the you said it is right . thank you.
+John B. Adams great to hear man!
Great video for someone one new to this . Thank you
Watch some of my lumens and candela explanations video. It also helps.

Thank you for showing the MK 34. I have one in neutral white and it is tops for easy carry and beam inside 50 yards.
I was going to add it in the general beam section but I forgot at the time... so I added this for those people who already owned it. I know it's a popular light.
great review! THANK YOU!
I literally did watch this when I was high last night, but it got too technical for me so I just went outside and played with my Acebeam K60. I still enjoy your videos when I'm sober, though!
+K-dog701 ha! Sometimes I feel they're not technical enough. Maybe I should make them shorter!
It has not been that long ago since I got my l6 convoy which I am happy with but, I do like the shorter physical dimensions of this light with all these great features like insanely low moonlight mode. I think that the led under the mode switch would annoy me too , they need to update it already with the option to disable it.
Once more tank you again for the great video, so keep doing what you're doing bro.
+wayne murphy yeah it's a tad more compact length wise... but heavier and thicker. Plus the moon light is more usable. But if your mostly walking around in areas like the size of my backyard... then the L6 has a much nicer beam for that. While this light is awesome... extreme throwers beams are a little harder on the eyes at close ranges. That adventure sport Maglite is probably my favorite big lumen beam pattern for enclose areas
How do you feel about cool white vs. neutral white for high candela lights such as this?
+stereotonic the cool tint on this is not overly blue. I don't mind actually... it seems way less offensive than an EDC light where it's more dispersed. At close ranges a high candela light can almost be too dense for tint pickiness... and at farther ranges we'll it's far away. This is a cool white light, but it's only slightly cooler than daylight...
Thanks for vid.... I'm hooked
First video I watch that you make its good can you make 1 on the manker u21?
More EDC flashlights like this please. Why there is no belt clip once again?
+Marcin Ornowski ha! It had a holster... and this dawned on me- I didn't do that shot where I show the stuff included or dimensions. I let everyone down!
_"Unless you're a weirdo like me.."_ Love the candour! Deserving of a sub and thumbs up!
nice review always.
+Petcharat Petsiri thank you!
Thanks a lot for the review sir. 👍🌞🌝
No problem!
How's the Step down/ Run time on Turbo'(s) for the Mk 35 VS. the K70? Considering which one I should purchase.
MK35 holds brightness just a tad longer on high before stepping down a bit... it's got more weight to it, so that helps disperse heat... plus the Manker runs a bit longer. I feel like build quality is just a bit better on the Manker too. As long as you like the UI on the Manker, maybe go with it? The overall throw and brightness difference is negligible.
Advanced Knife Bro That Definitely leaned me toward the Manker. Was just Hesitant about Turbo Runtime/ before step down. Can the Turbo timer reset when turned off(Like say, the MK34) & loop back to the pre step down lumen output?
It doesn't step down hard for 15 minutes... so I'll have to get back to you on that.
Well you sold me! Just purchased one and it’s killing me waiting on it!
+SmallBlock351Cleveland hope you like it!
I never got putting a little spaceman icon on the button with Manker lights.
+JHO it is a little weird huh? At least it's different. I kind of like it.
It's their logo. Like Ferrari and prancing horse.
Which is made the best??
I think it's funny that the illuminated switch is brighter than the moonlight modes.
+Nathan Schmoekel I thought it was a weird choice myself. Maybe they should just disable it on moonlight ?
Nice rewiev as usual........tell me, what versatile flashligt( a lot of lumens, compact, thrower) is better? Is it the Noctigon Meteor?
Compact thrower? The Meteor is a floody $130 light. The Manker U21 or cheaper clone, Utorch UT02 $55, are pretty good. Low price and 1000 meter throw. The Convoy C8 with a Fet driver is really small and can get 1400 lumens with xpl hi.
+Gadjimurad Suleymanov yeah check out what he said. The meteor is about the best lumens per value in a light... but some lights throw better.
Advanced Knife Bro Speaking of lumens per dollar, the Thorfire S70-s that just came out is about 3800 actual lumens (in cool white) and has been selling for $37. That's very good value for your money. Plus it's a high quality light. I have a Convoy L6 with a smooth reflector and a FET driver pulling 12 amps for a bit over 6,000 lumen. This gives me long distance (probably 1000 meters or more) as well as a bigger hotspot than these xhp35 lights.
Gadjimurad Suleymanov
Out of all the ones he showed in this episode, I'll say the Convoy L6 is the most balanced. It has brightness, it has throw, it has very versatile mode distribution. All it lacks is moonlight.
where do you aquire those evve 18650s at?
+bluelude2001 I got them at mtn electronics.
So what is the best thrower do you think.?
Should I get the nitecore TM16GT? Or what would you recommend?
The thrower is the Thrunite TM42. The Best thrower in this video is the Acebeam K70... with the MK35 just a touch behind. The TM16Gt is a nice much brighter light, but the beam doesn't throw as far- if that's the most important thing to you.,
Advanced Knife Bro, thanks bro. By the way have a look at the Imalent flashlights. You will love them ;). Suss out the 16,000 lumen monster ;).
Enough to send you with a hole in your pants ;)
STUPID Throw Bro!
Yet another great flashlight review. Your up close photo game, has stepped up! Those down by the road shots, really worked out well too, with this thrower. Very nice!
I bought mine from goinggear.com. Marshall and his gang do a fantastic job over there. Shipping was extremely fast, with a great price, and the packaging was perfect.
I spit out a little bit of my beer, when you punched out that, 'ish', after saying the Convoy L6 had 70,000 candela . . . ish! : - ) That was funny!
I really do love the UI. It is probably the first muli-mode flashlight I've bought, where it felt completly natural, and I didn't think I should keep a cheat with me. When first heading out with the new flashlight. The 15 minute step-down time is very generous, and the flashlight stays at a reasonable temperature. I set my Moonlight mode at 10 clicks up. Which is half way to 'high' moonlight. (Which could bring up the term 'firefly mode', but we'll talk about another day:)
I won't ask about the LVP . . . . . . ; - )
I really like this heavier flashlight too, knowing it does indeed have more mass, to help with the heat. As compared to a battery carriage type flashlight. I held back from buying the K70, and not for any reasons most would think of. You see, I have really been falling hard for Acebeam's flashlights recently. So much so, that I saw myself becoming a "FanBoy" of sorts. Which I always try to keep from happening. So I bit my lip (often) and just said no to the K70. No matter how much it hurt!
I told myself to find another brand, that would fill this spot, and be able to keep my collection varied. giving another brand a chance to impress me, in this big thrower category. This took some time. I almost pulled the trigger on a few different lights, during this time (months), but once I found out, and saw this MK35 was about to hit the market. I said this one is it! I have not been disappointed, one tiny bit. It is gorgeous as well. (I think this is my 4th Manker flashlight)
The lanyard/tripod mount hole is 8 mm/5/16" deep. Too shallow for most, if not all standard Short 1/4" Mini D-Ring Hinged Screws (which average 10 mm long). I bought this one here this time > bit.ly/2qmaIWj (another view) > bit.ly/2qmc9Em
which I really like, but I had to grind 2 mm off of the threaded portion, to use in this flashlight, as a second anchoring point , with an over-the-shoulder sling. Manker should really drill this hole 3 mm deeper, if possible. I see in your video here, at the 05:13 mark. That your tripod anchor is pushed out some. Likely happening when tightening your tripod bolt in too far when mounting.
It was good to see that Adventure Sport Flashlight 5000 lumen Maglite in the beam shot section again. Wow! That thing really is serious.
+Steve Kluver yeah I like that Maglite.. Matt said I could keep one of the two... and since I had no other big lumen lights that floody, it needed a place in the collection. The light just scatters.
The added weight of the Manker helps with the heat and thermal properties. Thick battery tubes and the weight of the head help. If the acebeam x45 was as thick as this light I think it could run a bit longer at some of the higher levels.
Yeah I screwed the tripod bolt back in... I have no idea why I'd need to ever mount it on a tripod, but at least there's the option.
I also don't mind the UI... if you could disable the button it'd really help people appreciate those moonlight modes.
Yeah Marshall is a good dude- runs a great business too.
I'll bet that crenellated bezel makes a cool pattern when you press it into a pbj sammich. TEST IT!!!
+marshalllaw123 i need to do some PBJ combat again... you're right!
marshalllaw123 and you can't toast it at the same time!! Lol
how is this light compared to the TN42?? is it worth the extra $50?
@@apocalypticredix8538 it throws less far with a superior user interface to the thrunite as it have programming options.
Bro, I'll probably never buy one of these but I still enjoyed the review. Your neighbors must freak out when they see high powered light beams coming from your backyard.
+Jose Osornio I’m sure they do! Surprised I haven’t seen the cops yet!
Cool bezel on that light. Good video. I see your daughter is accompanying you in more and more videos. A question unrelated to this video...where do you store the flashlights that you don't use on A day to day basis. I just counted mine and I realized how much money I have spent (Alot!!) I think I need to buy a special case for the ones that aren't being used on a daily basis. They all get used but on a rotation or as needed basis. I collect sport watches (Suunto) and they make watch cases. Other than a shelf, what do you recommend or what do you use? What do others use? I have not seen any videos on flashlight cases.
+D. Knibb honestly I have no good storage method. There's a website called MCM electronics that sells fake pelican cases... sometimes they have good sales- check out their website.
Thanks.
How do you sharpen this one ?
Grinder.
Nerde satiliyo bu ürün fiyat nedir
What the he'll em I doing, just kidding great video bro, and 2800 lumens is amazingly well driven xhp35. Appreciate your work very much !
+NI2 TEST yeah it is! Thanks man
how dose it compare to a car headlights on the road?
+maram Ovidiu much brighter. Look at my Nitecore TM16GT review I show a picture in there.
Hey knife bro, I'm new to the flashlight game. I'm looking to spend 60-80 bucks on a rechargeable light. What would you recommend? Thanks for all the great videos!
Zebralight SC600W Mk III HI 18650 XHP35
+Justin Roy that's a good one ^^^ the Olight S2R if you want something with integrated charging.
Advanced Knife Bro let me gives you guys a better idea of my use for the light. I have about 4 acres in my backyard, the back two acres are fenced and house a few goats and chickens. I was looking for a light that would be able to shine that distance, given any disturbances in the middle of the night. I would prefer something with integrated 120 volt charging, and would be willing to spend up to $120ish on the light. Any suggestions? Thanks for your time!
maybe the Manker U21 or Utorch UT02. They are well under that price and are compact throwers with built in recharging. Like mini MK35's.
Also the Nitecore MH20GT... That has some throw to it, and should light up an acre or two, plus it has built in Micro USB charging
Got my Convoy and haven't looked back! No one is just gonna hand me a 400 dollar light, nor can I see that kind of price tag fitting into my budget anytime soon!! LOL
HELL I could that kind of flashlight I would be a skinny minute away from my ever elusive HD Breakout!
+Bud Brangard a $400 light? I think my most expensive light is $280... whose light channel are you looking at??? This one is $155. The convoy is a great choice- so nothing wrong with that.
What about the Astrolux MF02?
Are you asking me my opinion, or trying to figure out why I didn’t mention it in this video? One has an easy answer.
Spanker rhymes with Manker.
Great vid, as usual.
+Jarhead Greasemonkey that works! I was thinking wanker, so it was close!
Advanced Knife Bro you could charge your Manker with your Anker...
Jarhead Greasemonkey
Also clanker. Which makes sense for us gear heads.
Is the candela of the niwalker over rated?
I have no idea. Never tested one, or been offered one to review.
DomWil_ no the niwalker is a beast
I just noticed you're using f.95. What lens is it?
+Durin VI how did you know? Probably my instagram. It's a micro 4/3 mount 10.5mm voigtlander. It's great... I can shoot in natural light.
You put the settings in the beam shot comparison :p But yea, that's a very sweet lens.
+Durin VI oops! I forgot I put that on there. That's an easy way to know.
can i use sanyo 18650ga ?
Yes... button top though.
pretty sure I saw a Sasquatch in your woods while you were flashing the light around lol
I love how you call the "tacticool" reviewers the "hair gels." LOL
I think adding hair gel just might take this channel to the next level.
Advanced Knife Bro
Please don't. Silky unbound hair is vital for my enjoyment of these videos.
The Thrunite TN42 has a throwing distance of 1,550 meters, or, 5,085 feet 3.622 inches
+Otis Cobblepot yeah it's the big one!
Advanced Knife Bro My wife finally let me get the TN42 last month, she said that's enough flashlights and batteries for awhile, I agreed, happy wife, happy life
Otis Cobblepot next month u will buy more..hahahaha.. and she said "enough flashlight or i will sell them all for couple of bucks!!" 😂
audy surya Highly doubtful, I take care of my things, my wife is very respectful of my possessions as I am of hers
+Otis Cobblepot yeah that's the best thrower you can get unless you go the modded route... which will set you back more money!
Manker is really pumping out the lights lately. That face they use for their logo on the switch though, is a little weird.
+Paul George yeah it's like a transformer
if I didn't have a K70 then I'd buy this. if it had better performance then I would which is why I still want a TN42.
+Keen Beams yeah... no need if you have the k70. I've always wanted to try the tn42... but in all honesty... I don't have the sort of range around me where I could appreciate the additional performance.
Manker rhymes with kanker. . . . . awesome video. I'm looking for a good thrower. For night hunting coyotes your. in your opinion sir what's the best throwy light for the money?
+Orrin Moose how far are you needing to see? Under 300 feet the convoy l6 or convoy c8 HI are good choices... over that the Manker is a good light. The C8 isn't bright... but it's super budget friendly... the l6 is about $60... a little less candela but brighter overall... long range the Manker is the best at $155... not sure the price on the Niwalker though.
I would like to see a little over 300 feet I watched the convoy l6 video I like that light. Maybe mostly for the price, I might put some knife buying on hold and save up for a light though. Thank you for your input and videos.
Advanced Knife Bro which is better and which one would you prefer? thrunite tn42, acebeam k70 or manker mk35? thanks a lot!
+Ivan Cliff Abcede if you want max throw go for the Thrunite. The Acebeam and Manker are close to the same on paper... if go with what UI you seem to like more. The acebeam has an easy UI, but the Manker also has those low moonlights. Build quality on the Manker is slightly better than the Acebeam.
Advanced Knife Bro thank you so much AKB you are the best!
Moar cussing plz. Great vid. Been waiting for this one. Also, danker rhymes with Manker.
+Stacy Keen the Manker is danker. It'll come back!
I don't like the battery indicator light either. I think I'd put some electrical tape over the button.
I soooo want one but I barely use my Olight SR52UT. This Manker needs a shoulder strap🇺🇸👍🧀🔦
It sure ain't light is it?
Where's the Thrunite TN42?
+Otis Cobblepot I asked and they said No.
Advanced Knife Bro WHAAAAAT? Those bastages, fargin ice holes, as Maronie would say from the movie Johnny Dangerously
Just buy one already or pick up one off the forums, or ask a vendor that doesn't suck if you could borrow one for review. I'm interested in seeing how the TN42 stacks up and not many people have all 3 or 4 of the top throwers.
no... actually there defiantly was a Casper at the 11 min 30 second mark... wth was that!
My breath- it was cold!
***** nope... I'm going with a Casper!
You get just as drunk as me every night don't you? This flashlight is good for spotting raccoons at night. Enjoyed the vid as always my friend.
+liljack8421 thanks! I Usually enjoy 2 beers a few night a week. Haven't been super drunk in a while though.
Not a throw light overall but I won't be buying a Manker light after my mk34 stopped working with less than an hour of use, shipped it back to China and it got lost so I never got any refund. I did get a 30% reimbursement by the PO company. Irrelevant rant over 😂
That would piss me off to. I've sent a bum light back to china before, and lost $50 because it got lost. There a lot of US sellers though, so if you don't like ordering from there you can circumvent the whole thing. Now as far as the Manker being DOA... fair enough!
i want to blind a duck that has caused havoc in my neighborhood. would this light be appropriate?
That duck sounds like a jerk... is it in the night or day? Are you sure it's not a goose. This light works well on ducks but not gooses.
A very expensive way to blind the duck. Get a laser pointer and set it on fire 😂.
I agree a laser would teach the sorry bastard a better lesson.
You need to make friends with a guy that owns a farm. Then you'll have a serious perspective on how incredibly useful throwers and superthrowers are... (just not as serious as the tacticoolness of the Shadowhawk X800, because nothing in the cosmos is as seriously tacticool as that.) Very little beats seeing a pencil beam comb over a field of crops, it's so cathartic.
Yeah I know. I'd like to find some land that I could use this on.. I mean the parks are nearby, but I don't have a lot of spare time to travel an hour or two after dark.
The shadow hawk X800 is a scam. It’s a 800 lumen, $11 Amazon light repackaged and repainted.
You may not want to let your baby see that high intense light when she is so little...
Manker must have used pure math for most of its output since your measurement is all over the place.
Second!!!!! almost got first. Someday I will win.
+jtech011ify some day! The creepy smile face one!
+jtech011ify ... won
One day, you will have a durability test. One day.
+James Min I do durability tests occasionally... I actually drop the lights a bit during just normal use. If you saw my last review on my X45 my daughter is banging around my X7 and meteor quite a bit. I generally don't slam around and throw the larger lights though. You'll notice in the shot one of my batteries has a different wrapper- that's because it was dropped. The wrappers on lithium ion batteries are usually thin... and if the wrong part of the wrapper breaks, it'll create a short inside the tube.
Thanks AK Bro, I appreciate the response. Please give my regards to your daughter for conducting the durability tests on your behalf. Oh, and don't stop pumping out these awesome video reviews..
Thanks dude!
Man, one day you're going to replace that porch lightbulb so when you fumble around with that grill for the 1000th time you can use both hands. That is the day the reviews stop, so don't do that.
I know right??? Fun fact... half of my basement lighting doesn't work, so I actually have to use lights in that section all the time. I stopped trying to explain in the videos why my light didn't work. Hopefully the suspension of disbelief isn't too great for most people.
COME ON MAN REPLACE THE DAMN PORCH LIGHT (picard.jpg)
I brought one of these and it is somewhat not very impressive? I put the batteries in correctly, pressed the button to turn it on AND IT DID NOT EVEN LIGHT UP - really STRANGE ! 😨😰😰
+BubS7*7*7 T. Sounds broken. Contact where you bought it from. Also make sure your batteries are in right..
Advanced Knife Bro Yes, the batteries are inserted correctly sir ! I just got it brand new from an eBay seller - Anyways 😨😰

There is no "normal aluminium"!!!
I really don't get it why people ALWAYS state oh this is Aircraft marketing BS?
I know Aircraft Alu since 25 years in consumer products, like bikes: 6061 hard and relatively light. 7071 can be taperted even thinner and therefore lighter.
EVERY, REALLY EVERY product from aluminium is a mix of materials, like al mag e. g. in plates you find in construction stuff. but magnesium is hard and makes aluminium less flexible, it just depends.
You can guess ALL consumer products made of alu are aircraft stuff.
I'm high as fuck so I enjoyed this quite a bit 👍🏻
+Levon that's what I'm talking about!
Levon
Bro's reviews are enjoyable no matter your current or future state of bakedness. But I like them best when I'm sober.
