THANK YOU!!! I thought cut and come again was a super tedious process where you just picked the outer leaves ONE BY ONE! Now I see I was all wrong! My lettuce always goes to seed because I don’t want to be bothered and there’s a thin line between harvesting a full head and it bolting. You have changed my lettuce game Luke! And thanks to you, I’m STILL harvesting peas thanks to your video on high intensity pea spacing. I can’t believe it’s still thriving after two separate heat waves and STILL flowering and producing! Praise God for you and your family putting in the work to share and empower those of us that want to grow big 😊

Luke this is perfect timing for me. I have heard of the method, just didn’t know exactly what it meant. I just ordered some seeds from you yesterday, all leafy greens. So when the weather cools off a little I’ll be ready. I planted a leaf lettuce last year and it came up all over the place in my beds. Most of it is currently bolting but I have a few little groups coming up in some containers that are shaded, thus a little cooler. Thanks again and God bless you and your family.

My mom keeps the crowns and some of the leaves around it from store bought lettuce to start new lettuce. She put slices a thin piece from the bottom and sits each one straight up in a shallow dish with a little water. After just a few days it starts to grow. She mainly does this with romaine and iceberg since they are easy to purchase by the heads. I hope that helps someone else get started.

Hi Luke! A bit off topic but I think of this every time! How do you handle thinning the lettuce after planting when it starts growing, since the seeds are so tiny and difficult to sow thinly? Same with carrots and any other tiny seeds. I've seen your videos of planting where you are shaking seeds out of the envelope. As a long time gardener it's the most tedious of tasks! My aunt used to sow how she wanted the plants to be spaced apart, so she wasn't thinning a whole row and saved seeds that way. Thank you!

Don't stick with only a farmer's market, talk it up with friends at work or maybe neighbors who also garden, and discuss a farmer's cooperative.
Instead of selling, you can trade your lettuce for something that someone else is growing that you're not. Agree ahead of time on what 'fair-trade' amounts will be so there shouldn't be any surprises when the time comes. There might be a special consideration for those with extra green thumbs (or the opposite with black thumbs who want to learn)

Everything trashed last week due to bolting and bitterness.
